He apparently misunderstood something and was trying to "protect" the girl who was riding along with me. Safety aside, Uber still has several advantages over taxis - 1. Uber drivers always has a GPS enabled phone that can look up the address you're going to. Taxi drivers sometimes are on dumb-phones. 2. Uber's fare is charged to your CC, just way more convenient than paying cash. When you only have 50 mil bills, they often can't give you change. 3. Bogota taxi fares are difficult to read without an app, which can potentially lead to cheating. Overcharging has happened once with me thus far but I knew the appropriate fare at that time.

The Chinese company DiDi also operates in CO, but I've never tried them outside of China. Looks like I might have to next time.

Whenever a new technology or option comes out, people feel they just have to use it. We're talking about getting from point A to be, it's not that complicated. Forget Uber, put away your phone, and hail down a cab. Tell him the address you're going to, or write it down if it makes you feel better. Get in the cab and go. And, if you can't speak basic Spanish, wait until you learn at least that much before coming to Colombia. As a side note, not to get on anyone's case, but if a person walks around Colombia with only 50 mil banknotes, they're a fool. When you go to the casa de cambio, always get a mix of bills. This is basic traveling.

The problem of only 50 k bills is easily solved. Go to the ATM and withdrawal cash. Walk into Carulla and buy a bottle of water. Walk into a restaurant and buy lunch. Each time pay with 50 k notes. Whenever you buy anything, use a 50 k note. After 2 days you'll have enough small bills to last for a week.

Had a blast as expected.

Photopregagos: had three ladies, and all were solid quality GFE. Prices varied from 120 - 200 k, including upsells. The best way to improve your odds is to search for candid reviews on foroprepagoscolombia using listed phone number. I found the forum to be very helpful.

Tantras (Ajales) massage: went there three times. Selection was subpar all times, but on two occasions I got very good BBBJs. This place is recommended for that quick relief on the cheap with guaranteed BBBJ.

Mezzanine: My biggest surprise of the trip. Went three times, always a few hotties in lineup. The best experience by a big margin was here, with a young lady called Alicia. I like their rooms which are cleaner, with full size beds, not those stretchers you find elsewhere. So much more comfy than the other joints. Had good sessions with 2 spinners, a Carolina was good enough to repeat.

Street action: The selection on Calle 67 between Cr 20 and 22 was surprisingly robust on the early evening I walked by the place. There was one hottie I would have snapped if I didn't know better. Never had a satisfactory session with a street walker, ever.

Monserrate: Went on a clear, warm Sunday, but so did everybody else. The crowd was extreme, both for the rides and walking to the top. The walk to the top is refreshing, but don't do it on a Sunday.

Kib123, helpful report thanks. I've always found a good spinner at Mezzannie despite the cramped rooms so I'll checkout Princesitas. Too bad to hear that ZonaRosa places were subpar, any in particular? Last year I hit Colorin a few times and was quite happy with the spinners there.

Around Bogota you can visit "el dorado lake" it is a small lake that according to the legend it was used by cacique (tribe leader) for a ceremonial ritual in which he would dip all covered in gold. Is about an hour north and there is a nice hike with a guide available in english. In the south there is a nice water fall call "el salto del tequendama" just a nice view.

I was pointing out the ridiculousness of having to use a phone AND a credit card just to pay for a simple ride. The more a person uses technology as a crutch, the more common sense they lose. Keep it straightforward. I don't even bring a phone when I travel. I like to explore on my own, and talk to the locals for info, rather than following a digital map and looking things up. It's amazing how you can build a street network that way. I've done it in many countries. But, I suppose that's the difference between a traveler and a tourist.
