Rio de Janeiro Reports

Popped into 65 tonight after a week or so away. Price has gone up. Used to be R$385 for the hour, now it's R$400. Receptionist says the price goes up every Dezembro. Now look R$15 increase isn't so bad in a land of 10-12% inflation over the past year. But it's an optic thing. I used to be able to get out of 65 for R$395 after a water or two and an hour session. Tonight it was R$413.

On the other hand, they did have a few more doable girls tonight. Definitely a predeliction for bigger-bunda / bigger-body chicks, but there were some tall, fit, thicker girls who I could have done business with.

I just finish listening to a interview were this guy that do podcasts was interviewing a guy name Jack Rover that wrote a book called Getting the best bang for your buck the traveling John book or something like that it is about the difference of being a trick and being a John. More bad news, sportsfans! The reports of L'Uomo's price raise are true. Your intrepid man on the street Cartman headed over there tonight to get the skinny:

- 90R entrada (reduced 50% to 45R if you session)

- 310 all-in room / girl cost for 40 mins.

- 440 all-in room / girl cost for 60 mins.

What makes this all worse is that the talent is basically the same as it has been the past 6+ months. Not L'Uomo.

What's even worse is that when I asked the receptionist why they raised prices, her answers included: "The girls were leaving for other casas." Seriously? Let them leave, you need the turn-over!

Her other answers were:

2) We're now the same price as Solarium. Centaurus is more expensive.

When I pointed out that T65 has raised prices by R15 to R400 all-in for the hour, she said "Well, that's Centro. This is Zona Sul."

Talking to the girls didn't yield much hope, either. One said she thought she was making slightly more under the new prices. I asked about supply / demand, and she just didn't get it. I suppose you could try to argue that as summer here approaches, there are more customers and thus the quantity demanded even at higher prices is increasing. But that's a stretch. There's no shortage of casas or girls. My econ is a bit rusty but clearly there should be less quantity demanded at a higher price assuming normal elasticity (or something like that. Perhaps Chrisdrug can help me out).

You know, I could fucking handle it if the talent was up to par for that kind of price. But I literally had another R90 shower tonight and left, after waiting for 90 mins to see who turned up, without doing anyone. Because honestly the chicks were common and not worth it. Completing my price survey, hit Monte Carlo tonight.

From what I recall.

Entrada: R$80.

40 mins all-in price: R$260 (R$180 girl and R$80 room)

60 mins all-in price: R$370 (R$270 girl and R$100 room)

But MC is running various weekly flyers (sign up on their website) like those below where you can use your entrada for consumption in the bar, or where entrada is free. They also have a loyalty program wwhere if you register, every time you spend more than R500 your entrada is free. So often I get out for R$370 (1 hour) plus drinks (usually R$5 water).

So still a reasonable price if you ask me, in the context of Zona Sul and even T65.

By the way, it was LOADED with guys tonight. As we head for the holidays, all the Brazilians are riding high on their 13th salaries (mandated by law, employees receive an "extra" month of salary in December paid in 2 parcels. Half at end of November, and half on Dec 20th). Saw some drama as one drunk-ass brazilian dude started bitching about having to wait in the 4th floor hallway while his girl went to change. I was going to Rio 3-4 times a year back in the 70's. 80's 90's I was a fat kid in a candy store LOL than in the early 2000-2001, 2002, etc. I slowed down some and was going 1-2 times a year later on around 2004-7, I slowed down and went once a year and than I started going to other places like Costa Rica, Thailand, DR, Panama, Germany etc. Because I have got so burned out from Rio going to Rio, I started back going in 2008 etc. I took a break a few years because I was like you seeing the same girls inside of Club Help, Mia P. The Termas etc. The prices started going up and up and up. I knew I needed a break.

I am now looking forward going back to Rio early next year and now I have made lots of friends on Facebook and I have girls line up to see. Rio can be a tricky place if you hang around any one place for to long you can get Jaded from seeing the same old faces. OK, maybe I am the last defender of L'uomo. But I like this place. Yes, on my (really all-too-infrequent) visits to Rio I like to hit the casas and the downtown termas. Even VM, on occasion, but more for laughs. But when Sunday rolls around the list of options becomes VERY limited. Then L'uomo is about the only choice for me.

Raising the prices for the session is not even the dumbest thing they do. Raising the prices for the drinks is much worse for their bottom line. Because now most guys just do not want to stay the whole evening and party and drink with the girls. So then the terma becomes just like a casa, where you inspect the lineup, make your choice, session, and leave. The girls get bored, because there are very few men, if any, in the boite at any time. And nobody wants to pay for their drinks. And off course they all just want to sit around, which makes it much less attractive for men to visit this place. Which in turn leads to lower consumption, which the management notices, which they make up for (or try to!) by raising the prices. Death spiral! I never went to biz-school, but I know stupid when I see it.

After reading the previous paragraph you may wonder why I am still at L'uomo fan. Maybe it's all those great memories from days past. Maybe it's the girls speaking a decent English and allowing me to have a good chat and laugh with them, maybe I don't really care that much about money, and maybe because the options really are very limited on Sundays.
