Now this "culture" has been going on for many years, and many girls feed stories back to their village about how their boyfriend is richer than the other girls, how he sends 100, 000 baht to her every two weeks. And then another girl comes and wants to outdo this girl, so she tells everyone her boyfriend sends 120, 000 baht and so on.

The end result is that lots of Thai people think all farangs are earning millions of baht every month and so they think a few baht here or there is no problem for such super rich people.

Now, we are quite off topic when it comes to Bangkok reports, but suffice to say that scamming is not always as it seems, sometimes and indeed quite often they do actually think you are uber rich and 50 baht here or there matters not, you will not miss it the same as if you drop 20 satang on the floor.

But as I said, do not lose your temper, keep on smiling even when having the disagreement.

I always do my best to educate Thai's differently. I always tell them I am very poor, a real cheap charlie and earn nothing. They laugh, but also they never expect any extra tips.

Sadly a number of loud mouthed arrogant dumb ass tourists do come to Thailand and shout out about how rich they are trying to show off. This kind of behaviour sets the seen for people charging foreigners more. Cause they are all rich, so they think.[/QUOTE]

See this is a very good report, and I understand every word because I have been there and seen it happen right in front of my eyes!

See, as you noted your report really belongs in the Living in Thailand or Opinions which are both located in the Far off horizon called the Expat Forum! but it would be right of me to come out and say it since as you can see for yourself no one can stay on track... and we can't always practice what we preach so no more talk about starting new thread O.K.

OTH, had his own opinions which he experience and might have been a unhappy Farang but there were happy Farangs that insisted that OTH must have the same view and got him booted off this site.

It hard practice what we preach! Not a personal attack but sometimes we sound more alike than we would like to admit!

It's my first post after reading through the threads for a good few months. So please don't flame me if I posted this in the wrong place.

I am spending 1 month in Thailand (all December). Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai or Koh Samui. I am Canadian Asian and trying to get as much sun as possible!

I prefer picking a girl and keeping her for about a week. If she's very good then I keep her longer, but that has rarely happened. I like seriously hot girls (tall, skinny, big breasts and caucasian features) who offer the full GFE experience. Things have been a bit hit and miss with my selections.

I would really appreciate any recommendations. I promise to reciprocate with some reviews and pics.

My experience during a short stay in Bangkok last week:

Stayed at a 4 star hotel at soi 19 for a day later shifted to a 700 bhat hotel at soi 8.

Visited Tulip, Mango and Akane Fashion

Tulip: Excellent standard of service but below average girls didn't find anything to my liking so left early.

Mango: Good service way better quality girls than Tulip

Akane Fashion: Not my cup of tea as no FS is provided.

Went to Nana entertainment went up the escalator and got into the first bar on the left and to my surprise found some nice lookin girls there!

Freelancers: Beer garden is a lucrative hunting ground. Rule of thumb do not handout your mobile number as Thai chicks tend to be really clingy!

I have already posted in the proper section my report about my (disappointing) visit to Pattaya. And now I write in brief my experience in Bkk. In short it is too big for mongering IMHO. I mean that I do not like the idea of choosing a hotel just near the mongering area. Because then I waste too much time to go and see the town or enjoy other past times. So I got a room near Grand Palais and it was nice for my tourist goals. But terribly far and uncomfortable for the honey. So I just focused on tourism which, for the first time in Bkk, is not that bad. I went to Patpong once and saw something nice. But, once again, the ST was a must. Since I was at at least 40 minutes by taxi from my room it was impossible and, as I already said, I do not like to use bar rooms. And I went to Tulip once as well. My goodness: just three not young, not pretty not hot ladies. So I left the place and the idea on having some honey in this first time in Bkk of mine.

I would really be cautious to keep one for one week and eventually extend
try one for one day, eventually extend for +1 or +2 days, THEN decide whether venture for a week or more.
After one or two days you might already get good or bad vibes.
If you book her for a week since day #1 and get soon the bad vibes what are you going to do?
O am not saying you cannot bump into a great experience, but usually any nice fish after a day or two starts to stink....

Chiang Mai and Sun in December? Ok since you are from Canada maybe it will be warm but for me it is terribly cold. Girls are more round (to me) and more white skinned. They do have some HOT looking girls from Chiang Mai but you'll find them working in soapies in BKK :) Seems like you'd like chiang Mai girls.

Phuket... is OK but you can find other places around Phuket for better beaches especially if you have your own girl already.

BKK everyone should stop there, the airport is near there :)

Koh Samuai... touristy... just touristy... Do not like that side of the water either. Find better beaches over north and south of Phuket.

I really would caution getting a girl for an extended stay... Take a few girls over a few days... and besides how much you pay a girl, do you really think you'll walk in and take a top looking girl out for a few weeks and she will give you top GFE and just pick up and leave with you all over Thai? You think all Top Hot Looking girls will just be glad to give up their lives for a couple of weeks and magically give you GFE that simple huh?

Maybe that is why you are hit and miss...

nothing to do with delusion...after the first few visits they knew exactly where i stood...they weren't going to be getting rich, they enjoyed the fact that we could have intelligent conversations regardless of nationality, class, income or anything else...and it helped that their daughter seemed happy and they weren't greedy..they all had jobs, nobody was lazy , nobody needed a handout.

I would agree...it all depends what circles you run around in...yes, if you spend a lot of time in the bar scene, damn straight that there are huge numbers of ladies that can and will take you to the cleaners and whose families see farangs for one thing only...and there are also other segments of Thai society where that is the farthest thing from the truth..just like anywhere in the world, this country is full of diverse realities, and while the stereotypes are useful, they are often overused and certainly not applicable in every situation..as long as you are having fun, dont worry about what people are saying, gossip is just a form of entertainment.

If we talk about bar girls: Many of them are so close to poverty - the main drive / motivation for them is to make enough money to take care of their family, parents, kids. Some, but only very few of them are so successful that they lose it ... but most of them are not. Most of the girls would appreciate any boyfriend, all money they can make ... if they can fulfill their commitments towards their families. They don't care about the "better" effect at all.

Seems to me that ANY girl making 2500BHT in 1 day (which pretty much any half descent girl can make), working only 20 days per month will make 50,000BHT/month. Very good money by Thai standards. They all live with roommates, eat cheap street food and drink free. So, why are they just above the poverty line?

None of the girls have customers every day.

Some of the girls have customers MANY days - and they make a lot of money. They most likely change, but they have so much more money than the others that they immediately leave the "team" . Of course the other girls are jealous, too - because they are not that successful.

Those girls - on the other hand - do not necessarily live with room mates ... many of them have a sponsor in the background, and a condo somewhere.

We were talking about "Thai structures" here. Another "structure", a real one, not "The Pro Nonsense" is, that if a group of Thai people goes out for dinner / disco that the one who is considered to be the richest pays. Now - a successful girl pays ... for all friends ... many times ... guess, what she learns after a while.

I don't want to generalize anything - but some of those reports written before and giving the impression that they contain knowledge about Thai "structures" are simply - nonsense!
