Dollar. Rupiah exchange
Rates in Maribaya have gone up to IDR 600, 000 per girl per hour. At first glance this is outrageous and for locals this may indeed be the case.
What can be taken into account for foreigners, however, is the exchange rate. In June the rate was near 12, 500 per Euro. In December the IDR had slumped to nearly 17, 000 per Euro, which hugely softens the blow. IDR 500, 000 at 12, 500 works out at EUR 40; IDR 600, 000 at 17, 000 works out at approx. EUR 35. For a guy from Europe not much pain. Don't know how it works out in the case of the USD.
Regards,
Ko
If you go back about 4 pages, I posted on exchange rates:The rapid depreciation in the Indonesian rupiah (relative, for example, to the US dollar) is a real factor (positive) for tourists to keep in mind.
" First, for the record, I agree that 800k IDR is too much to pay, based on the existing market. Second, again for the record, what you pay or tip is none of my business, and what I pay or tip is none of your business.
Having said all that, the 800k IDR that the girls may be looking to get is about US$65 currently, but was US$88 and change in December 2011. A more realistic 'ask' of 500k IDR is worth about US$41 today, as opposed to US$55 two years ago. *snip* The hundred dollar bill brings about 1. 2 million at the money exchange, not 880k as in the recent past."
I also added some blather about Jakarta vs Bangkok. For my money Maribaya is like Tulip in Bangkok. Good value for the money for a PSE! Best for 2014, TTG

Hello all,
I will be going to Jakarta on 22nd and will be back on 27th Jan. I heard that there is a massive flood going on overthere. I seek your opinion whether or not should I cancel my trip. The trip has been planned for quite sometime but I do not want to be stuck in the flood.
I will be based in either All Season Gajah Mada, Mercure Harmoni or Mercure Kota. Haven't decide but I guess these hotels are close proximity to classics and travel. Does the flood affects the area?
I have RTFF and understood the going rate was 310k for ST. Does this rate still prevail? I wonder if I can get an all-nighter from these places? If so, what would be the rate that I should pay (800k?). I don't want to spoil the market.
As for the club scene, I also understood that Jalan Falatehan is quite far from my base and it is not recommended during this rainy and floody season. Please advise if otherwise. I don't mind at all to take a taxi for 30-40 mins ride. If not, I will venture out to Millie's. I don't think I have the guts to venture into Stadium after reading all the reports.
Promise will write a detailed report once the trip is completed.
Thanks

Hi,
You will be fine int hose areas. Although the trip from the airport will take longer because the bottom toll road out of the airport is closed. Forcing traffic into 2 not 4 lanes.
Kota fine at present, no problem where you are staying.
ST 400-500k, LT 800-1000k depends on your bargaining and balls. You won't get a girl from classic or travel, most likely to stay overnight. For that you will need FL's from the hotel bars, or BlokM, or try your hand in Nth Jakarta with locals bars (but more language problems and a bit more of a FL mongering challenge).
The rate in Classic is 330k from memory for 1hr. But be sure you choose the 2nd floor, as the basement (bunker) and 5th floor are higher prices, but better girls. 2nd floor is an Indo meat market designed for high turnover locals fucking cheaply, whereas the others floors are a bit more classy (hehehe classy yeh right I hear you say).
Yes Falatehan is BlokM, it is far, but don't worry about flooding, from where you stay it is one straight road almost, which is flood free this year. Just depending on the time of day could take an hour or more.
Milles good, Stadium also good. Just the problem with both of them is that the music, the venue is designed for the drug user. If your not ON, their both pretty average places IMHO and hard to have a good time in. But always good to have a look. If your don't partake in that scene, then I recommend stadium for the experience. Go 3rd floor, sit back and have a beer and watch the gogo dancers. Very safe. If you goto 4th floor. Thats the disco where the drug taking and dance music is played. Definitely worth spending 30mins there, just to experience it. The music system and light show really are very very good. But go after 1am for it to be busy. BUT unless your a pussy, I highly recommend going there to experience it, I have never felt unsafe and have been there in all states of intoxication. Just be smart.
Just remember BlokM, Stadium, Classsic are 3 very different types of venues. BlokM is lower level FL's (most mothers, but good fun and sexually experienced) with lots of expats. All having a good time. Classic is a local house full of Indo men with hokers who are young and usually starfish. Stadium / Milles are trance type nightlcubs, full of drugs and girls either wanting you to buy them drugs or hookers.
If you like Fl's and don't mind spending high drink prices, the hotel bar scene is ok. BATS, CJ's, Tiga Pulu etc.
Let us know if you want info on a specific scene. Advise your age, tastes etc then we can narrow it better.

Thanks
It's difficult to tell you to cancel or not, as the situation changes daily. While some parts of Jakarta are under massive amounts of water, such as Kelapa Gading and Pluit, other parts of Jakarta are in pretty good shape. A couple of the Transjakarta bus lines, including Line #3, are closed, but other lines, including the important north-south Line #1 are still open (although there are some delays).
Assuming it's too late to cancel, I think you'll be ok when you get here. The girls have not left town, in fact you might find more choices as many people won't bother to venture out.
I look forward to reading your trip report!

The floods, while bad in some locations mostly residential areas on the peripheries, are by no means as bad they were in previous years when you could take a boat trip down Jalan Thamrin in the city centre. However as Mighty Spearsman says the situation could change from day to day but even in the worst of flooding in the past I found I was merely inconvenienced at worst for maybe a day or two. Anyone staying in a decent hotel (which are filling up with people whose homes have been effected so you might want to get booking) will suffer no great hardships.
If anything at the moment traffic is flowing even better than usual as people stay at home, motorcyclists don't venture out and the trucks are held up at factories and ports. This certainly reduces the number of punters about but as the girls tend to live in low-income housing in the less developed parts of town many of them are also inundated and unable to get out (but think of how desperate for cash they're going to be to fix everything when they are back in business. What? I'm not heartless, I'm an economist by training and that's how I see the world).
If you're already booked I certainly wouldn't let a few inches of excess rainwater put me off.

Hello Jakarta veterans,
May I ask if any of you has a Jakarta travel guide for newbies like me?
I'm planning 10 days in BKK in May. It'll be first sex trip, other than Amsterdam (I'm W. European).
I know that Indonesia and The Phillippines are better suited for experienced mongers so I opted for Thailand.

I just came back from Stadium. I had a very good "sleep" there. Before I looked Block M, bur there was it very quiet. I stay Mercure Kota until 25. January. Yes we have rain in the night but no big problem.

Sounds interesting with the different levels, can one take a dancer or a FL from the disco to the ST room floor for a quickie, or is this exclusive for the girls on that floor?
Hello Jakarta veterans,

The best bet for any newbie (especially someone who's only going to be here for a few days) is to contact Jakarta After Dark.
The easiest way is to go to the Classified section and go directly to the last page, where you'll find one of his ads.
If you want further assurance, there are several posts here on ISG by other mongers who have used JAD's services and are satisfied customers.
I look forward to reading your trip reports!
We got to coordinate our travel so that next visit, the three of us finally get together. ;)
I agree!
I fondly recall having lunch back in 2005 with JAD, Bulai69, Menteng, KL Guy and some other esteemed Senior Members at a cafe at Sarinah Plaza. JAD had brought two young lovelies, one of whom was enjoyed by Menteng, as shown in the photo below (taken by Menteng). It's too bad that you can't see her pretty face, although you can certainly see her shapely, larger-then-average (by Indonesian standards) breasts.
I later ran into this young lady a couple of times in 2006, not sure what she's doing know.

MD II
I used him on my first trip. He is great! Don't get down here enough to see him again, but great guy and money well spent.
I'm here now and will use the knowledge I got from him to have a great time! Happy to meet up with other punters this weekend.
