Champagne Pops may not be great champagne, but it is an actual Champagne from a notable French house - Pommery. Until a few years ago Pommery was owned by LVMH - along with Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot. They are in Rheims just up the road from Taittinger.

Pops were very big in European nightclubs a while back. At $10 per bottle retail, they cost as much per ml as Veuve Clicquot and Taittinger. But since I'm not up to finishing a full-sized bottle by myself after my date has half a glass, it's a good alternative.

Apologies for the little lecture, but my inflated sense of self-importance was at risk.

My sincere apology. Goes to show how little I know. Did not hear of these. When in Europe I did not frequent any of the Clubs so I missed it. I have had champagne from Pommery and it is very good. When I open a bottle of Champagne I tell someone uninformed (like a hot asian lady) that it will last about four hours so we have to drink it all. The lady usually has 1 1/2 - 2 glasses over that time frame and we include fruits (strawberries), chocolates (Godiva) and in one instance, oysters.

On Letterman last night, Martha Stewart prepared raw oysters as the suggested choice for Valentine's Day. Expounded on the approdisiac quality of them. Said she prefers them with only some fresh lemon. For those in Davao City there is an Oyster Shop / Restaurant on Rizal Street. It is on the opposite side of the street from Habana Compound where Chico's & Claude's are located. They were nice enough to open all the oysters for me and pack them in ice. It made a great Champagne Brunch.

The "cadavers" refuse to just leave me alone. This morning I awake to a few texts on my CP, which is normal. Not normal is one from an int'l code I have only recently come to recognize. The oyster house to which DS refers is called Talaba Joe's and it's right where he said it is, on Rizal St. across the street and slightly up the road (toward 183) from Habana Compound. Do not let the slightly seedy exterior fools you. The place has good oysters and I think (though I have never bought them) mussels as well.The problem of course with oysters here is that once they're opened, you need to eat them very quickly and keep them very cold on ice before you eat them because they really spoil quickly as I have found out to my stomach discomfort once.

Oysters and Champagne; a typical French late night treat, and one that's almost guaranteed to result in some excellent sex. I miss Paris for sure.

We all make mistakes regardless of age and experiecne.

When we meet up we can swap stories on how 'stupid' we have been with our ladies and what we should not have done but did and now regret etc. I have expericend the same here in UAE and I cannot regret it as at the time I did it for the right reasons even if now with hindsight they look completely out of character and dumb. This flu sucks. Now, Sunday morning I feel better. Very very bad news via text message during the night. My son has been hospitalized. I will call shortly to determine the exact situation. I spoke to his mother twice by phone yesterday and he was home taking meicine and she was concerned as he was vomiting.

If the situation is severe I will cancel my next ten days and take a flight Monday or Tuesday of this week. Hate to travel myself when not 100% but sitting here doing nothing is worse than useless.

I keep one bag always packed as I travel frequently for business. Going business class I will definitely get a last minute flight.
