I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm looking at it from a different prospective.
I disagree, most mongers I know do their best and learn the language and do well with regular girls. It could be a cultural thing. Tourists from US rarely knows how to speak more than English. Europeans often speak a minimum of three languages and for them it's more easy to learn new languages.
I think you're right about this, which might explain why our experiences are so different.
If somebody spends like 2 weeks-3 months in Brazil it would be very strange if they don't try learn some of the language. Also many mongers who speak no Portuguese at all do their best to flirt with local girls. The simple reason is that they enjoy flirting with pretty women. Is it a comedy to speak with pretty women? Not in my world.
Flirting how, LOL? By smiling, waving your hands or making a joke via GT? Even though I can speak enough Porto to haggle at the market or ask for directions, flirting with girls is a completely different animal. Flirting requires a sufficient command of the language, and sustained ability to make her laugh in her own language. All due respect, it's more than doing one's best.
And then you mention 2 weeks-3 months. Not many Americans have that much go-time. And those who do might also be interested in other places. Brazil, as much as I love it, is not the only country I travel to, so how many languages do you suggest I learn, LOL?
The mongers who doesn't have the ability to make conversations with women, no matter the nationality of the women, lack social skills. My guess is that those guys are a minority.
I don't know. I love talking to people when travel (and not just women). But simple conversations require a much lower set of skills than flirting, IMHO.
You wrote "I never met any black GDPs providers in Salvador during my two visits." That's really strange. It's like going to a gogo-bar in Bangkok and not seeing any Thai girls.
I couldn't agree more -- it IS strange. Granted, I haven't been to many putarias in Salvador during my 2 visits, but I never saw a black chick. I remember whites, remember dark morenas, I remember an incredibly exotic girl in one massage place whose race I wouldn't even be able to pin down, but again, no blacks. And yes, I thought it was strange considering that I did see black WGs in BKK on more than one occasion LOL.

Xpartan, I think most normal men (except incels) knows how to flirt with women. Brazil is the number one flirting country. All guys, no matter the age, flirts. Sometimes it's only a psiuuu or a "gostosa" but at least they do flirt. You can start out with a psiuuu and then say something in English. If she doesn't understand English you can repeat the phrase with a louder voice (that's how many US tourist do). Good luck.
No, not using Google Translate. That's really awkward watching guys trying to flirt with women using GT. They loose the eyecontact, body language and clearly shows they are not capable of such a simple task as learning some phrases in another language. I know you love having long discussions but it's a shame to clutter the Salvador thread.
Dude giving you a shout-out for that specific Porta dos fundos link. The garotas and I were laughing our asses off. The facial expression on the wife is priceless. The receptionist at the clinica turned volume up full blast.
Can't tell you how many hysterical laughing emojis the garotas sent me for sharing the link.
Kkk hahaha lots of garotas comments doggy style, she would do this team or that one. Leche baths on weekends.
Fun channel indeed.
