It is more worrying to have tangas on beaches where children are present - Magistrate Mizzi

VALLETTA, Malta (di-ve news) -- February 13, 2007 -- 1900CET -- All 35 foreign lap dancers who on the night between November 17 and 18 were arrested by the police for performing erotic dancing and committing immoral acts in various nightclubs in Bugibba and Paceville, were on Tuesday cleared of the charges brought against them by the prosecution who argued that their acts were immoral.

Presiding Magistrate Antonio Mizzi first heard how on that night, several police officers were instructed to carry out searches in various clubs across Malta to investigate whether there was any form of prostitution or other immoral acts going on inside these establishments.

That night, 35 foreign lap dancers -- 20 Russians, seven Ukrainians, four Czechs, two Slovenians, one Estonian and a Polish - were all arrested by the police after they were found dancing at the clubs which were all shut down.

Magistrate Mizzi then argued that while the purpose for which the police searches were carried out was worthy, on the other hand, it was not at all admirable that some of these women were not even allowed to change to their normal clothes when they were being escorted by the police. The prosecution said that this was done in order to photograph the dancers so that they can later present the evidence in court, which argument was totally discredited as a "ridiculous excuse" by Magistrate Mizzi who emphasised that every person had a right to dignity and called for an apology and to make sure that this will not repeat itself in the future.

Magistrate Mizzi also added that since the prosecution itself admitted that during the searches there were no signs of prostitution, there was no point in charging these women with running the establishment for prostitution purposes, saying that it was deplorable how the police charged them all to let the court decide.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi said that this had been a fishing expedition on the part of the police and while evidence showed that some of the women were doing nothing illegal and had nothing to do with the running of the establishments, they were still arrested and arraigned. He also said that given that it was the police superiors who had ordered the searches, then it should have been them to appear in court to prosecute.

Coming to the question of whether lap dancing constituted an immoral act, the presiding Magistrate said that all 35 were all EU nationals who came to Malta out of free will to work and had regular contracts, most as self-employed paid by the establishment.

He then remarked that to him, it was more worrying that there are tangas worn on the beaches where children were present than having tangas worn in establishments which apply 21 door policy guaranteeing that minors are not allowed in.

And before acquitting all 35, Magistrate Mizzi concluded that the morality standards of our society have evolved and we are free to buy or otherwise according to our moral standards.

Those all those who were 'worried' about my posting on our mostly desireable guests, rest assured that it was pure sarcasm;-)

Just saw a new girl, early twenties, slightly down from the blue sky furniture showroom in Marsa (on the way to the Power station from the upper side), however, she was picked up immediately. Hoovered around for a bit more(nothing in particular to report in that area) and again missed her for a few seconds. I went on a tour last Friday at about 1. 00am. The Marsa area was deserted, accept for one or two trans. Not my type. At msida, nothing much, the usual door waiting girls. However I did visit a near by guest house. It houses 4 woman, two new whilst the other two have been here for a bout two months. Nothing to comment about, as Julia, the one I had a full job from was cute, but not that I dreamnt about her at night. Looks 6, body 5 sevice 8. I have visted Josette the one near BK in PV. I must say that she has a very nice character and really is not like most of the others in a hurry and yes as mentioned before she suggests the CIM. So I would highly recommend her though she was a bit nervous when I told her I got her number from a friend on the net so I would not recommend mentioning this neither:)

They will be quoting in Euros, come next January, and there certainly will be a strong element of rounding up in our hobby. The current street worker charge of Lm5 should be approx Euro 11.5, no doubt this will end up Euro 15 and I don't think we will be able to complain to the authorities. Nor will we find anyone to sympathise with us for the sudden increase in the cost of living / (fucking)!

It is indeed with concern that I read your concerns about inflation in the black economy... Perhaps it is about time that us punters ask for a fiscal receipt for the amounts paid - who knows maybe the "lucky" girl might bring luck and enable us reclaim the cost by winning the VAT Fiscal Receipt Lottery.
