Election time, new government?
I will post this here as this is the only really active thread on Bangladesh, and everyone should see it.
The government is likely to change in a few weeks. The likely replacement party is the BNP, which has a sizeable very conservative segment. I expect there to be mild "crack down" on prostitution until the new party can get their new bribery system in place.
This will not affect "foreigners" themselves, but may affect a few of the more visible places of entertainment, if only temporarily.
What will be affected is personal contacts and independent suppliers that are not on the bribery list. They will be made examples of how the new government is cleaning things up. Now is the time to protect your personal contacts by disclosing them only to persons you have had previous contact with via pm. If someone new wants you to share via pm, a personal interview first is the safest. Personally, that is the way I ALWAYS do it.
We mongers are not the only people that read this board.
All should be back to normal within a couple of months after the elections.

What's up with the photo gallery?
Am I the only monger in Dhaka with a camera phone?
Most girls love to get their picture taken fully clothed, especially when the request is preceded with a compliment about how beautiful they are.
Most girls will also allow nude or semi-nude pics if their face is obscured or not in the pic. Again, if preceded by a comment about how absolutely beautiful their body is.
I sometimes like to see what I am missing here in Dhaka. It inspires me to new heights of desire, in a manner of speaking.
Come on. Let's get those pictures posted!

Purbani owned by the Govmt?
Last week I was in Dhaka and stayed at Purbani Hotel. I was surprised to know that they don't allow guest after 5 pm although they claim their hotel as 4 star. I tipped one the hotel staff and he informs me that they could not manage girls in the hotel. So I passed the night only with a beer can. Shame. So fellow mongers, if want hotel based mongering then beware of Purbani.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard that the BD government bought, or took control in some fashion when the former owners of the hotel moved out. They wanted the building refurbished and run as a BD owned / operated 4/5 star hotel. If that is true, then it would be a good reason for the "No Guests" policy. In a political climate like exists here in BD, the opposition party would be all over any hint of impropriety.
Thanks for the clarification
Thanks Kid.
I never was too clear on that Sheraton to BD transfer. Just knew it happened. Also, I didn't know that Purbani was government owned.
So, we have two hotels with government involvement that are not girl friendly, and at least two that are, Pan Pacific Sonargon and Westin. You have to be very careful and proper in the Westin, but I have never had a problem. And as we all know, Sonargon has a well developed and friendly system of openly helping you get a girl to your room. Two very different policies in the same Muslim country.
So, maybe if the government owns all or a share of the hotel, then it is not girl friendly. I can understand that in this political climate in a Muslim dominated country. I have no idea, but, let me guess, now, that Pan Pacific Sonargon and Westin have no government ownership, and that is what allows them to be girl friendly, each in their own way.
This is just speculation on my part, but the clues are adding up.
Interesting discussion, and at least partly on topic, as mongers need to know which hotels are friendly, and which aren't.

Going home for the holidays
Leaving Dhaka for the month of December. I will be back the first of the new year. Won't be checking the board much when I am gone, so,"Happy Holidays" to all.
