Refugee, I deliberately chose the Karama Hotel because of Ratskys. I've been to DXB many times and have scoped SeaView, Regal, York, Imperial, Rattler, in its time Cyclone and even The Garage among others. It wasn't a problem, it was an observation about Ratskys. The only problem was my choice of girl that night, who turned out to be a starfish. C'est la vie.
I will go back, just to satisfy a Fili itch. Other venues for other types, if I want PRC, then probably Seaview, African probably York, CIS or Stans and I'll go to the Rattler. Each to their own. As my report noted, the following night I was at the Crowne Plaza Festival City with a very tasty Fili courtesy of Wicked Roger. A change is as good as a rest. . .

I stayed at the Ramada a few times last year (around June/July). It is a nice hotel. I liked the rooms. Definitely Green back then.

When I checked in they offered a "free pass" into Rumours, but I recall I asked for it on one occasion.

Rumours is small, and back then a rather good Phili band. All the usual suspects hanging out. There is an entrance to the club from the 1st floor (I think). So you maybe do not need that free pass., but on the way out they ask you to go via the main entrance, and back through the hotel lobby. But no problems.

Note that other clubs (York etc) are very close by.

Outside near the parking area and bus stop, there is some street trade, late-ish. I was surprised this being the ME. Maybe gone now. Not my thing anyhow.

I know what you mean. I have a regular that I see when I'm in town (when I find quality I like, I stick with it. In Dubai on the last part of a 2-week vacation that took me to western Africa (A whole other story) Any way, I hook up with an old friend from my Sierra Leone days and headed over to his hotel for dinner. He was at the Phoenicia Hotel (I would give the hotel and facilities about 2-star. Had never been to that part of town before. A lot of African merchants who are looking for goods to sell back home hang around this area since there are other similar hotels and tons of traders in the area.

Moving on to the point of this post. After dinner we went bar hopping in the area and found out that the Phoenicia and other hotels in the area had their own little nightclubs, A few were African, some were Bengali and others were were a mix of of pretty much everything. The staff of these bars as well as a lot of the female clientele were pretty doable and very approachable. I didn't partake that night because I had already arranged for Chinese Takeout but I did collect a few phone numbers for the next trip. My buddy snagged the phone number of the very hot Ethiopian manager (8.5/10) at the first club we hit at the Phoenicia. Could very well be a vein of talent yet to be explored.

just returned from a 8 day stay at 4 points bank st. (great allround hotel)

day 1
