Dude you are an hour away from Puerto Plata and Sousa, and like 5 hours away from Boca Chica. Do you speak spanish? If not than your best bet is to hook up with a local Dominicano to introduce you to semi-pros, pros, non-pors in Cabrera or near by town Rio San Juan or Nagua depending where your guide is from. Since you are going to be in these small towns dont pay a chica no more than 1000RD for her time, and the guide just buy him meals and drinks and you should be good in that aspect. I had a similar experience, but I was able to submit a written statement to the rental company. My credit card covered my damage and I submitted the claim to them for reimbursement. Everything went fine.
One reason I always use a national-level US rental car company, never a local or small-time company.

No hotels were available. Chica is my regular. We decided to go to her place at the far West end of town, then at least 2 city blocks downhill , on a skinny lane. Hello forum members. I am planning a last minute trip to DR since my return trip to Quito has been put on hold. POP (BB's) and/or Sosua were of interest. Does anyone have any recent info or comments about Hotel Voramar? It looks very chica friendly based on the web site and I did see it mentioned here in the Sosua section but it doesn't have the following as say. BB in POP. Should I take that as a sign that it isn't good. LOL. Thanks in advance. By the way, I hope to visit the end of this month into the first week of May. I will keep checking the forum for any of you other members that will be there and maybe we can get together for a drink and compare notes.

Voramar is very chica friendly, but doesn't officially invite the P4P ladies to hang our there. This is not like BB with fixed prices etc. Just very very chica friendly. Officially, all of the women are supposed to have their cedulas, but this policy is not enforced. The hotel voramar also offers appartments, which are behind the 2 main buildings and they are nice and quiet and the music from the bar does not disturb you at all, and also the cleaners show up later like at 1:30 pm.

Thankyou guys for your quick response, opinions and advice. I was looking at doing a few days at BBs and a few days in Sosua at hotel V. Unfortunately I will be alone on this venture and being still a rookie I think I will be more comfortable "fishing in a barrel" for this first trip. I will definately make it a point to go to the city for a few hours during the day and follow some of the posts here for places to check out while in Sosua. At BB's I will probably just relax on the beach. As always, I will continue to read the forum and hopefully post something of interest when I take my trip.
