When I first started going to Czech Republic I had tried to learn some Czech from a BBC course. My spoken Czech was not much good. What I did do was keep a notepad and a pen. Often I knew the relevant phrase to write and this often helped when the person I was trying to speak to could not understand me. The girls were usualy quite happy to write down the price.

Just remember that hodina is an hour and "pul hodina" is half an hour. Bez means without so "oral bez ***" will usualy mean oral without a condom.

Get a Czech phrase book and casette/CD and learn the normal greetings, please, thankyou ect. The phrase books and courses usualy insist that you use "jak se mate" to ask how someone is and only use "jak se mas" when you know the person. I have found that "jak se mas" goes down better with the Czechs I have met.

Also beware there are many Slovaks living in Prague. I've met a few Slovak girls and they are realy nice but you speak/text them in Czech and you get Slovak back which is quite different to Czech, and makes understanding them even more difficult.
