Same here. There are parts of Tel Aviv that I never saw before I started hitting some of these apartments in the last few years.
I was actually a little shocked when I realized how many places like Ben Yehuda 38 or some of the places along the route walking from the Central Bus Station to Allenby there were before I started to be interested in these places in 2002. It changed my entire perspective on Tel Aviv. Sort of like waking up and finding out that your grandmother acted in porn films in her 20's or something.
While I agree that things aren't quite what they were prior to 2005, they are still better than what you can find in many places in the US or parts of Europe, either for cost or opportunity. The scene here is a little like Budapest, though it is harder in Budapest unless you know Hungarian. Prices are similar and I've had more GFE type experiences there than here.

Thanks Moshe, that's also my (recent) experience. I was in Tel Aviv last week after almost 10 years away from "Eretz Israel", and the degradation of the scene is truly depressing. Back then the providers around the Old Bus Station were rarely older than 28 yo - and if they were then they'd provide all kinds of little "extras" for almost no surcharge to stay in business. These days... that part of the scene is basically a festering garbage collection, full of druggies and BBWs past 50.
I also went to some of the places that have been recommended on this site (thanks guys!) close to the southern third of Ben Yehuda - BY38, Pinsker 42 and Bograshov 12. Yeah, Didi, that's what I feared. She gave me a relatively bad service compared with many other countries I've traveled to, but it is clear to me that Tel Aviv is now "sellers market".
