Hotels in Wanchai
I just checked hotel prices, and they're sky-high during the Feb. 10-13 Chinese New Year period, so you probably need to have a reservation already unless you want to spend at least $250 a night.
Speaking of hotels, I'm like some suggestions of where to stay. I usually stay at the Metropark, which is right in the center of the action. I stayed at the Burlington once-it's kind of a strange serviced apartment. I'm looking for something a little more upscale (and with more international TV channels) but not too expensive? How is the Empire?
Metro Park is far better than Empire, in my opinion. You are right, it is right at ground zero for the action.
I booked my room 2 weeks ago through Agoda and got a good deal at the Regal I-Club nearby on Johnston Road. I am staying for 14 nights so it averaged out very reasonably. The prices for the 10-13 period are very expensive now. My rate has increased somewhat since I booked it.
Good luck.

One Eyed Man.
Doubt that you can beat the Metropark for value.
You could try the Novatel which is around 400 metres from Wanchai in Lockhart road. But requires key card access access. And is probably double the price.
You could try the Ramada which is in Sheung Wan. 10 min by taxi to Wanchai. Room rates are very affordable.
Think the Empire has recently been renovated. I think the Metropark is better.
Good luck.
And the employer may have a nannycam and you will show up in photos on Facebook asking as to your identity.
And some nanny cams are online realtime, so you could be the next streaming live porn show. Apart from that if the employer has an online nanny cam you could find the police or building security at the door.
I know some HK parents who have children living and studying overseas and online cams monitor what and when the kids are doing.
And some nanny cams are online realtime
Been available for around a decade so for some, they were already caught on tape.
You could try the Novatel .,., I think the Metropark is better.
The former is very pricey for non airline staff and one could get better value at other establishments. Historically, the Metropark group has been at the epicenter of last two pandemic outbreaks in HK. I personally would not tempt fate.

One of my business associates (a big wig at AIG) knew who the guy was and confirmed the truth of the story.

Remember at the time that different items made their way into the hotel.

Care packages and supplies (including personal hygiene) were allowed in. WL was denied request to move to her own room (to set up special services for a captive clientele? Talk about cornering the market and having a captive clientele! LOL) Wonder if you know the WL. Was also surprised it was only one guy in a compromising position as it appears the lads from South America (patients zero) were also punting. Glad it was not I, though was in a couple close calls on issues that would have made it to the local and international papers.

How is the Empire?
I have stayed at the Empire several times and it's generally clean and nice. They have renovated some rooms. The last few times they have put me in large corner rooms which is great. They are almost double the size of standard rooms. The bathrooms have tub / shower combo and also a separate standup shower. For comparison, the standard rooms are still about the size of the average room at the Metropark that I've stayed in. Bathroom in the standard room is basic with sink, toilet, tub / shower. I've also seen one of the standard room setups with a glass wall in the shower overlooking the room. Key card is needed for the elevator. I didn't watch much TV, but if I remember the English channels are pretty much limited to a few basics (CNN, HBO, etc.)

Definitely some issues with some regular Escape W / L's.
Something to do with taking guys out.
Some are going to Amazonia / Joe Bananas and even to Forest.
Think the ladies will be happy when HK Cafe opens.
One day I will drop in after 1am. And see if they let me in.
-
Wan Chai. Has it closed?
No reports on the forum since Chantik on February 5 and the last factual report was by One Eyed Mn on February 2!!
What is happening?
Are all the punters away?
Have the bars all closed?
Have all the WG's gone home?
Tell them not to worry - I arrive on March 13.

Think Wanchai is as busy as it will get.
Has been fairly busy for the last 2 weeks, though the ladies are moving from bar to bar.
Makati. Good, solid crowds.
Amazonia. Bit busier than normal. Definitely more ladies.
Escape. Steady to good. Restrictions on ladies are hurting.
Neptune 3. Fairly steady by their standards.
Forest. Gets busy on the weekenda.
Joe Bananas. Getting a few ladies. Often Thai.
My observation is that there are more Filipina's in Hk. Not to previous levels.
Seems to be less South Americans and Vietnamese.
Unless my eyes are wrong. Seem to be a some Mainland Chinese ladies in the bars.
But of course this information means little because Jack has a way with ladies.

Thanks for the update, I am thinking of dropping into town tomorrow for a day or two. Nice to know there are options. BTW Happy New Year!
