Spasso is closed
Take a look at the map and tell me if you think the Athenee is a better choice than the JW. In my last post I mentioned I will be staying at the Intercontinental for 4 nights solely to take advantage of its proximate location to Patpong and of course because Spasso is right across the street and Mixx is in the same building.
Spasso is now closed but Mixx is still open. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency two months ago. Nice, uncrowded pool, fantastic location. The walk from the hotel entrance to the Nana BTS is 2 minutes and completely under a roof. On a rainy afternoons I could go to Siam Paragon or Emsphere without a need for an umbrella. There is a nice club upstairs but I didn't see any girls there despite a friend telling me some FLs hang out there.

I used to occasionally enjoy that different type of girl that hung out there; older, better educated, and horny! Mixx always had a more international crowd and I will definitely be checking it out when I am at the Intercontinental, but my main reason for staying a few nights in this neck of the woods is to hit Patpong (Kings Castle 1 + Pink Panther?) again. I sure hope it does not disappoint, but if it does there is always Nana and Mixx. That works too.

First time in BK
So I'm in the Philippines at the moment, which I'm a big fan of and have visited many times, but booked my first trip to Bangkok for next week. I'm pissed I didn't check this forum first. I just looked for a hotel between Nana and Soi Cowboy that looked kind of nice and booked it. The Galleria 10 Hotel. It looks good in the pics and reviews but I'm worried it was a little too cheap. I like a slightly more upscale place. Anyway, anyone been there and have an opinion? Thanks.
-
Nothing wrong with Galleria10; large rooms, friendly and efficient staff, good rooftop pool, just a stonethrow from Sukhumvit but completely away from the noise. Even a " nice" bar next to it.

Or the Samala, a bit further down Soi 15. Very nice and brand new hotel, but I've only stayed there once because it had too much road noise.

It's not upscale like the places that have been discussed here lately though. It needs a bit of refreshment here and there but nothing dramatic (the carpet at the hotel lobby, some wall paper in the room, stuff like that). The bed was comfy, good bed sheets, clean room. The location is good though you still need to walk 2 or 3 minutes after entering the soi. I took a girl from Nana back to that place and she was willing to go there by walk. Upon entering the soi she was already complaining she didn't thought it's that far, "when the fuck are we going to arrive? My only complain that I remember of was the place gets very hot quickly, so I had to let the AC running all day and night.

If money is not a problem, then everything is better in Noght hotel (location, room), except maybe if you bring a girl back from Nana, the walk is going to be a bit longer.

Thanks for the good info. It does sound like Night would be more style but I'm already booked. Should have checked here first. Either way it sounds like Galleria is acceptable so I'll give it a shot and if I need to bail I will.

Night or Galleria10
I stayed in bith several times, and there is not much difference; I like them both, maybe breakfast at Night hotel is better, but on the other hand pool at Galleria is nicer.

Gal 10 vs Night
Well I've been here at Galleria 10 for 4 days. At 40 USD a night I guess that's probably about the right price. It's fake nice. The carpet is a bit dirty, the wallpaper is scuffed, and behind the tv is so dusty I may be secretly getting lung mold. That being said I don't hate it for the price.
I walked over to Night today at lunch. It's definitely a level above. I didn't check out a room but I walked around a bit. I booked there for next week. About 70 usd but my impression is that it's worth it comparatively. I assume it's girl friendly? Galleria 10 definitely is. They asked for her ID when she arrived and no issues.
Side note: this city crazy.

The problems with Night are a limited gym and not enough shade at the pool.

Service hotels
I was thinking back to my first trip and talk about a hotel on the north side of Suk called maybe something white. The hotel is the only I know of in BKK that was a "full service" hotel and also a "full service" hotel. They would have wet T-shirt contests and such, I didn't stay there because I had gobs of hilton points at the time but I recall reports of guys banging anything from the checkin girls, bar girls and even the maids.
First does anyone remember the name of the place and second, is there anything like that in BKK? I know "the penthouse" used to be that way in Pattaya before covid. Been thinking a lot about my time in Thailand and want to go back.

Night
Thanks to those who recommended. It's exactly what I was looking for. Yes more expensive than Galleria 10 but the quality upgrade is more than worth it. Breakfast way better too. I'll be here until I leave, although not sure when that will be.
Next stop will be Pattaya. I've read through a bunch of pages on that hotel forum but having a hard time. I would like something similar. Around 70-80 usd a night, within a 15 minute walk to the fun places. Might be a tough ask here but I thought I'd give it a shot. Siam Design Hotel was one I thought might fit the bill but I'm not sure.
