This is where I don't quite agree.
I am moving more and more towards getting new girls, but I don't see any reason to blow them off, if they are still brilliant. The top 5 to 10% are worth hanging on to. What makes a new girl better? The continual urge to find a better girl will start being unsuccessful more often than not.
I know there is male instinct to impregnate everything that moves but I think I got past that somewhat.
In what way are we in disagreement? In my previous post I wrote: "For sex partners I like variety. A few f*cks with one girl and I'm ready to move on to then next. If she was very good, after a break it's nice to hook up again, but after awhile I tend to get bored with the same girl."
You like to find new girls. I like variety. I think we are saying the same thing. You like to hang on to the best ones. After a break, I like to return to the very good ones. Sounds about the same to me.
I think you do make two very good points I did not touch on in my post. The first is the frustration that follows continually trying to find a better girl. That is a dangerous trap to fall into. I'm no longer trying to find a better girl. A few years after my divorce I learned that as I moved from my ex to the first girl friend, to the second girlfriend, etc. I was just trading one set of good and bad qualities for a different set of good and bad qualities, and I was never satisfied, Then I had an epiphany. I realized the problem was me. I simply was not happy in a long term relationship. Next I discovered I really enjoyed my own company: the freedom to do more or less as I pleased, not feeling burdened by the demands of a relationship. This freedom did mean I had to continually look for women to temporarily satisfy my sexual needs, but I discovered this was easier (and cheaper) as an unencumbered single man.
As I age I am starting to notice a change in me. Now that I'm in my 60's sex is like a long drink of cool, crisp water when I'm thirsty rather than a desperate gasp for air when I'm out of breath, which is the second point I really liked in your post. As we grow older and our testosterone levels diminish and we are less driven by our biological imperative to procreate.
Syzygies, as always, I enjoy your posts.
