Try finding the "English Corner" for each city you intend to visit. I'm sure you will find somebody there that will be happy to show you around for free.

In Shenzhen it is located at Lichee Park, in the center of town next to Shennan Lu. Look for a small concrete pavillion on the lake. Always busy on sundays.

Or, try the bars and coffeeshop in front of the Starbucks at Jusco. Subway station Science Museum. Don't be shy, just say hello to any attractive gals you see.

Good advice from a hardcore monger. Think young girls who know or want to improve their English and where these types of girls might be found....i.e. Book Store in the English language section, Starbucks, RBT, etc.

-CPE[/QUOTE]An easy method to hookup is to go to a Starbuck with a couple of like minded friends and just start chatting in english and when the gals turn to look, just flash a nice smile or 'wink'. Setting up the bait and gradually reel them in. Late last year I did that with a friend and meet a few, but too bad that my sichuan freebies knew I was in town and sms me that she was coming over later that day.

I got a cheap ticket to go to China in July, but I am not sure whether I should buy it or turn it down, can someone tell me, how much does it cost to get out of China to let us say Thailand or some other friendly destination? I would arrive in China in July the 35rd and have to leave China by the end of July. Many thanks.

looking through your previous post i really do not understand why you can not do the research and just read and research what past forum has said. why do you need to fly out of beijing or shanghai to a less costlier location. there are many places outside the major cities that does charge must less than the metro area.

almost everyone of your post is asking for a handout. i will not berate you and use the 'rtff' that most member would have told you. i really do not see any trip reports in your thirty post. what i am going to say is that what you are seeking is written in both of these location throughly. you do not need to fly out to a different less populated location. read and you will find.

two things that i want to add, there is no '35rd' day in july. the second thing is that on your initial post you indicate that you were 'blind'. just wondering.

use your braille machine and read the post and you will find. in china, please watch out for the fast moving traffic, it can be 'deadly' . if you are jaywalking, the bus and cab driver will speed up and smile as they approach you. just a word of wisdom for you.

According to kayak.com, you can reach a destination such as BKK almost as cheaply from the US as from Beijing or Shanghai. Run the comparisons and draw your own conclusions!

I suggest not coming then as visas are very difficult to get now and they will be clamping down on foreigners and those areas we frequent in this hobby.

Airplane tickets and hotels will double and triple in price during July all the way through the Olympics.

Why not Thailand, just avoid the protesters or PI but watch out for typhoons.

China clampdown on expatriate registration requirements

Expatriate China Staff PSB Registrations To Be Enforced From 1st July
The Chinese Public Security Bureau issued new guidelines today to hotels and apartment management companies concerning the registration of foreigners in China, set to take effect July 1.

The PSB, a part of China’s domestic police force charged with policing public security and immigration residence registration and immigration affairs for foreigners, has insisted that the existing regulations for the registration of foreigners in China must be strictly adhered. Violators and those who fail to report, be they individuals or building management, will be subject to fines the bureau has said.

Guests staying in Hotels and Serviced Apartments

Guests must be registered upon arrival with the PSB by the hotel and if separate, serviced apartment management company. Usually this procedure is automatic with input from the hotel being directly fed into the local PSB computer at the check-in procedure, with no additional action being required from the guest. However, daily checks are now in operation with the PSB physically visiting hotels to request copies of the hotels in-house guest list to make sure they match the PSB’s own records. If they do not, the hotel / serviced apartment will be fined RMB5,000 per missing entry. Hotel guests under these circumstances would not be fined. However it does mean that foreigners wishing to stay at an hotel in China must provide full passport and visa credentials in order to check in.

Expatriate Employees Living In Private Apartments

The apartment management company should be contacting foreign tenants /residents and requiring them to register with the local PSB. If this is not done, both the management company and the foreigner can be fined RMB5,000. It is important to note that this rule applies to any foreign person living in any apartment or private dwelling - even if it is for just for one night. If staying overnight or visiting friends in China, registration must be carried out upon arrival with the local PSB office responsible for the area within 24 hours of arrival.

In Beijing they regularly go through our apartment complex door-to-door asking to see registration papers. This began about 6 months ago. A few friends have also been stopped in the street. I photocopied my passport, visa and registration onto one sheet and keep it on me. Don't forget to re-register each time you leave the country and come back.
