Similar to what I posted about a week prior. In that case, Rani, asked me for S200 and was pretty adamant about it (despite my chuckle). She also mentioned her rented room cost S50 per day. So if we assume she works OT every day of the week, and also manages to snag 2 customers per night, that's still under S5000 not counting food/phone/ or even the $12 glass of juice in the bar.
Unless the girl is stunning, I can't see a steady hit rate of 2 per night, but I could be wrong. From observation, there are just too many girls and not enough guys in OT.

I actually spent parts of two afternoons recently wandering around the side alleys between Kartika/Berlian and Stadium.

The first afternoon it was around 5 p.m., however I had just finished a nice session with Ina at Berlian, so I wasn't interested in another session, just doing some research. Most of the MPs on these side streets are not worth the time to walk there, as the girls are often over 35, fat and ugly. Many of them have a front room where the girls' photos are displayed on a desk, but in each of those cases only around 10 girls are on duty, even though there might be photos of 40 - 50 girls on the desk. Most times, the girls were lounging on sofas in the same room, so there wasn't much point in looking at the photos, since the girls don't look much like their photo anyway.

I did walk into the Maharadjah and found an attractive early-20s girl there, so I asked her for her name (Ria) and filed it away in my brain for future use. But there wasn't much else worth looking at.

But the girl had this scared look on her face, certainly didn't seem excited about the prospect of being with me, so I said "No thanks, that's ok" and started walking out the door. The Chinese guy got angry and started yelling at me, then he came from behind the desk and started walking after me, looking as if he might hit me. Needless to say, I walked quickly out the door, and won't be back.

In retrospect, he probably wasn't going to hit me, but he sure looked pissed, and you never know what might happen. And this was a "first" for me at a Jakarta MP; up until then I had never been hassled if I had decided to walk out of an MP without picking a girl.

In summary, IMHO there isn't much available in the MPs in the other alleys near Kartika/Berlian, although a hidden gem can always be discovered. But I feel that one would be better off to go to Kartika, or else some of the PanJay MPs (Sari Ayu, MTR) or Hotel Travel, etc. And I still think that Maribaya Spa (Hotel Melawai 6th floor) in Blok M has the highest percentage of decent-looking girls of any MP in Jakarta.

Read with a wry sense of amusement on the issues of Singapore this week. Have been running into the CJ's crowd in Singapore recently and they shack up 4 to a room keep the costs as low as possible fly in on Tiger Airways or other budget airlines and try and score 200 SGD per night. Sometimes in OT they are luckier and hit the jackpot and then again not but overall the numbers mentioned are on the high side as we forget the amount of shopping they like to do !

There is a clique led by Jenny - Monica and Arin who now have given up the pretence of day jobs in Jakarta and head off regularly to Singapore to ply their trade. One argument is that if they are continuously seen in CJ's then they see that their market value diminishes - a smart answer that one !

As for the anonymous ladies am in total agreement - there are often a lot of posts here whereby some writers seem to openly scorn the ones who provide them with entertainment. The economics you have hit on the head and also the dynamics - why go out with someone from the "hood" who will simply bang you for free or at least much cheaper than the nice bule will pay - then brag to all his mates and leave you high and dry once the deed is done. They are looking for escapism as much as we are in the opposite direction.

Those who have recognised this and there are many who write along those lines are having a much better time than those who believe that paying low is their prerogative as the Indonesians are a lesser life form.

Having said that please continue to do so because this means that those who do invest a little time and effort are the recipients as mentioned of their ability to do all and sundry in the short or long time that they are disappearing beneath the sheets in your hotel room !

I know this has been touched upon previously, yes I did do a search. I really screwed up big time, and cashed in a bunch of miles and have my Cathay Pacific tickets in hand. As an afterthought, I thought I´d check when Ramadan falls this year. It starts the day I leave Peru and ends a few days after I leave Jakarta. So there is no way I can be in Jakarta without Ramadan even changing around my itinerary and stops in other countries. Should I pay the penalties hope that I can still find seats and change my ticket, (although since I have to be in Calif. the weekend of Oct. 12 on my way back to Lima this possibility would necesitate a major trip re-working), or with the help of forum members and JAD can I still really enjoy myself during my 10 days in Jakarta during the month of fasting?

You can still have fun during Ramadan, but not as much. During Ramadan, the girls are desperate for money so home delivery is easier to find. That being said, I now try to make it a practice to be out of Indonesia the entire month of Ramadan. The negatives outweigh the positives in my opinion.

That´s the feeling I got when reading the other posts regarding this situation. But is it worth the hassle of canceling the trip? I only need one girl a day since I´m not a stud like Menteng or the Mighty Spearsman. I also prefer action in my hotel to going to discos, etc., although it would be nice to see some night time action.

No problem getting one girl a day or even two or three even during Ramadan. The only days that can get problematic are the Idul Fitri (end of Ramadan) because of the traffic jams, the city comes to a standstill. There are more girls in shopping malls during Ramadan than during the rest of the year because some of the pros fall back on the shopping malls, their MPs being closed. I now avoid Ramadan but my second JKT trip was during Ramadan. I had no problem finding girls, what pissed me off was that Stadium disco (with its Xstasy) were not available. You will, of course, miss the night spots apart from Bats and CJ's, as well as the brothels where you have as much girls at your disposal than a Sultan ever had, but, as you say, who needs that?

hi everyone. quick, first time, 4-day trip and here is my report.

thailand is seeing less and less of me these days. started out in bangkok and had to make a connection in singapore. air asia and then jet star from sin. downside of this method, you are not able to use the xfer desk at sin. you must clear immigration and customs and go through landside check in. give your self a 3-hour layover to do all of this… upside, $300 roundtrip tickets all in, bought online about 3 weeks before travel.

arrival

i kind of felt the same way as in the past on arrival in the dominican republic and in the philippines. it was “uh-oh, oh-no” all the way from the gate at the airport and thru the taxi ride into the city. not an open arms feeling like either of bkks airports. you must buy a visa on arrival for those that have that option. you will see this booth about halfway from gate to immigration. i saw it on the right hand side of the long walkway from the gates to immigration. $10 for 7 days and $25 i believe for 30 days. headed straight for kaha and then the blue bird counter after customs. i have learned in the past, “you have to go with a name you can quickly trust”. there will be other counters but deal with these guys on your first trip. get a hotel in the $400,000 range and above if you can afford it. even if it stretches you, get that range of hotel. hotel comfort is important to me and while my hotel was good, my thank you letter would read like this… oasis amir, “i had a great stay at your hotel and you made my trip great in every way… except for the roaches…”. a little fumigation would turn that into a really good hotel. $340,000 with breakfast at the oasis amir from kaha. i skipped breakfast… however cannot really complain, well ok, just a little. centrally located for…… mall hunting!

atrium mall

ok, here is my take on atrium mall. there are not that many on the game at atrium to begin with, but enough… 1-5pm is definitely prime time. you can get lucky after that time but less likely before. i find girls will sometimes hang over the railing by the circle over the amusement rides but i did not find many doing that. security will definitely post up over by that circle so i started to avoid that circle. maybe that is why the girls seemed to be less over there. they will also be anywhere along the railing throughout the mall. security was on to my shenanigans pretty quickly but left me alone. a hot spot is the little “bridge” that has seating for various coffee shops on different levels in the mall. it is right in the middle of the mall on every floor except the main floor of course. the girls/women sitting there are a 75% probability on the game. you can pull shop attendants and the department store cuties in atrium but i always feel funny about talking to chix at their jobs. shop girls are more time necessary than i had to spare but worthwhile if you are there for 1 week or more, go for it.

today country is located in lokasari mall. just get a taxi to lokasari and go towards the pinkish (?) colored hotel. you make a left then a right or something like that after the main gate then the hotel opens up at you. this is a strip type of mall like winding strip malls in the usa so think in those terms and directions will be clearer. lokasari is not a 5-story mall or anything like that. once you are at the pink looking hotel’s entrance, right by the side is the entrance to today country (all of this is still outside without entering any structure as of yet). go up the stairs either outside using the wood stairs or use the inside stairs (2 options) and alight at the 3rd or 4th floor, it will be kind of obvious.

i believe you can take the busway and then a short walk over. rooms are just ok but like i said i don’t think you can beat this place for the pleathora of cuties you will find within for the price. (i have yet to try mtr or hotel travel)

kartika, berlian etc.

took a walk down these lanes and peeked in several of these establishments but i was somewhat appalled at some of the ladies. i mean, who is taking these ladies? there were a few fresh cuties in a few of the establishments but i was hard pressed to make a decision in any of these places. i wanted to try hotel travel and mtr but never found these places because of nightfall. i mean you can probably have a good time here but i did not see the value over tc. maybe i will try them next time out. these establishments are right off of the busway line so you can get the busway almost right there. i think someone mentioned sawah besar as the busway stop. i just look-see’d all of them but some of the girls did not seem real enthused about their jobs or my presence especially in the smaller places. i think i was at the places off of hyam wuruk. i took mangga besar over (i walked believe it or not from mangga dua mall) to hyam wuruk. i think some guys tried to call me into the lane with the other houses while on mangga besar but i kept going for some reason. you will see a bakery maybe “holland” i don’t remember it saying swiss. it is a tall towering bakery with a sign on it from “some country in europe” on the corner or near the corner of mangga besar and hyam wuruk, or was it mangga dua? you know you are in the region when you see that bakery, then start peeking in alleys…

jl industri 9-11

followed the directions to this place. you can get there with the busway, three stops i believe to the north of the central/senen stop where atrium mall is located. it is definitely right behind the sheraton media that i understand is a great hotel and is in a great location for mongering. behind this hotel is jl industri 9-11. the touts were yelling to me before i fully arrived at the entrance to the carpark. that was funny. i did the rounds and because i had a session before checking this place out i was not interested in sessioning. this place had some nice girls for the prices. i only got a quote from the popular one, which has a pretty nice and somewhat trendy interior (for the venue), of $180,000. i assume the rest will be in the same range. there was this one chubby girl there, titties spilling out of her outfit. i mean cute enough to have it be ok to be a bit chubby, that means pretty cute. however she had a bit of an attitude so i passed. i tried to warm her up with some convo while i sat on the comfy couches with her and sipped a bintang. i would have and could have taken her but i have no time for attitudes. the security guard will still pop up and try to show you around even if you take the stairs to the immediate left of the carpark when you walk in. he was annoying but kept his distance. there are about 7 apartments of this type i assume normally with 3-10 chix. they were a bit drained of talent when i got there. i went at about 8 pm and i felt very safe. i would use this as a 1pm to 8 pm option. definitely an option i will partake next trip with batteries recharged!

blok m

the expat hangouts… you have d’s place (which i hear is going to close soon), top gun and my bar. all are good for their respective plusses. pool table and bands in top gun, dance contest and oldies in d’s and straight wall-to-wall people and dancing with full mirror in my bar. all of this livens up around 10 – 11pm if memory serves correctly and thu, fri and sat are the really active nights. i did not get the mo right away. the girls were a bit more standoffish as apposed to being all over you. do not let that throw you off, you should make your move on whatever you are fancying. of course girls who approach you are more likely to really be into you. the downside is the somewhat western attitude of the girls and the fucking rip off cab drivers outside. has the mafia squeezed blue bird out of that venue or something? i started not to like those guys after awhile…

i stopped off at maribaya spa on the 6th floor of the melawai hotel. it was ok there but i got there really late right before closing one night and there was only one passable cutie there. should be much better in the day but never went back.

well jakarta does not top bangkok if you will compare the two, as a vacation venue. what it does have are some totally awesome cuties who surprisingly enough will fuck your brains out. i found a couple of real troopers and no one experience was “bad”. looks wise i think they are really cute! i think girl for girl they may have the thais though the stunningly beautiful edge would go to thailand. but how accessible are those stunners in thailand? point to ponder… so i might tool around thailand for a bit but i will definitely be getting jakarta in. i might even try bali now that i have been to jakarta.

food, extras etc.

ate at established places only and the food was really good! if you stick to the eateries in the mall that have chains in various places then you can’t really go wrong. if its trendy looking and clean with several chain locations, go for it! i ate at a trendy place with a nice pineapple shake along with some spicy fried rice and some gyoza in atrium on i think the 3rd floor. right by the escalator going down from the grocery store side of atrium. food of very good quality and really cute tout in front of the restaurant. i ate at these places and at popeye’s in mangga dua. quality same or better than your average popeye’s in the states. asian rain i swear we are related somehow!

mangga dua mall does by the way have dvds of excellent quality for 6,000 rupiah. and there is another shop like that in another mall i came across when walking from mangga dua mall. they gave one free for every 10 and they were 5000 rp each! it is a somewhat well known mall i believe on mangga dua but near hyam wuruk, i forget the name.

take the busway whenever possible. beats the taxi and traffic game, which can be two separate games. the busway runs til 10pm. get a map and study it, after your first ride it is cake.

optimal day

wake up hopefully by 12p, shower shave etc. on to atrium for lunch and possible pick up at the mall or onto kota for some tc, tender (loving) care at today country. out of kota by dusk and back to atrium mall for more food and a possible pick up in mall or out on lane. depending on how that goes, maybe a swing by jl industri for shits and giggles, then back to hotel and then on to blok m for evening takeout. oasis amir being centrally located was perfect for that type of itinerary. however will be investigating the oasis amir apartments or atrium hotel next.

busway busway busway! the only cab you will ever really need following this mo (if you are willing to walk a block or two from time to time) is on the way back from blok m.

practicalities

very third world (imho). i almost left after the first day because of this. it was actually because i overslept that i stayed. from that point on i really decided the trip was definitely getting better with every day and every new venture of mine. you have to tolerate several things from the language barrier to not being able to comfortably “sport” your cutie around. it is not thailand that is for sure. but that is good in a roundabout sort of way! not heavily touristed and you do have many options most which i have not explored. there is still more stuff for me to locate out there. just don’t go looking for any sort of vacation like thailand.

That's very true. If I were going somewhere for a 1 or 2 week vacation, I'd take Thailand over Indonesia every time. Indonesia is good for us guys who live here, but it's not anywhere near as convenient for tourists as Thailand. There's actually quite little to do in the day. It used to be that Indonesia was cheap, but not anymore. The prices of everything have gone way up in Indonesia the last 5 years. Especially taxis! You mention to take the busway all the time, but that only takes you so far. For example, you can't take the busway to a place like Kelapa Gading, and to take a taxi there will cost you the equivalent of about 200 baht one way. Thailand is more expensive than it used to be due to the baht being so strong right now. But transportation is still dirt cheap and more convenient in Thailand.

It used to be that you could take a girl home all night in Jakarta for 200,000. That was the going rate and the girls were quite happy with that. Now it's more like 500,000. In that same time frame, the price in Thailand in thai baht really hasn't gone up much. For the guys looking for really cheap action, Angeles City is the way to go these days. It's about 1/2 the price of Jakarta now.

As far as TC, I hate that place but many do like it. I personally find it impossible to enjoy myself in that environment. Sure there are girls there, but there are girls in many other places where it's not pitch black and loud as all heck. Your comment that you have to bring a pen flashlight is spot on. As mentioned, the place is pitch black. I went there once with my brother and he was making out with this chick the mama san brought to him. I yelled in his ear (I had to yell since it's deafening loud in there as well) "don't make out with her yet, you dont even know what she looks like", to which he replied "she feels good! how bad can she be?". I then went out to the mall, bought a pen flashlight and came back in. I shined it in her face and she was about the ugliest mutt either of us had ever seen. My brother all of a sudden felt ill and wanted to leave. LOL!

As far as those Price is Right t shirts, they are selling those all over town in the cheap clothing shops. They have other similar slogans as well from old game shows and tv shows from the usa. I was in the elevator in my apartment complex a while ago and one of the maids was wearing a jilbab (the muslim head wear) and a shirt that said "i'm here about the blow job". She couldn't speak a word of english. I doubt she even knew what it meant. I'm guessing her bule boss gave it to her as a joke. But that shirt wasn't purchased in Indonesia!

Thailand is great but a bit over touristed. Along with Pattaya, which for its upsides has many downsides also. I liked Jakarta I just think you need to get out and about to fully appreciate it and not scare yourself away like I almost did. Bali can possibly be similar to Pattaya I assume and hopefully many of the downsides of Pattaya are eliminated or reduced there.

The girls are great. They are great actresses also as someone pointed out previously. I liked them and when they are comfortable with you it can mean a really good time. Like I said I had some memorable hook ups there and the whole vibe, once I got used to it, was really good.

The Oasis Amir. I have to give them a fairer shake. I needed a sanctuary and Oasis Amir was that, it is just that there were a few roaches. It is not infested but watching a few crawl out when you are with a really fine girl kind of dampens the mood (I like to play-date). Maybe I got stuck with a bad room. It was a really good hotel otherwise, Blue Bird on standby, all your favorite things close by. So I don't mean to dump on the Oasis.

Today Country is ok, I am very used to loud music and am a maybe slightly younger than the average monger in there. Though being close to a loudspeaker at Top Gun almost deafened me. As a tourist the loud music kind of goes with the territory in strange environments, as an expat I can see how it can get annoying. Maybe I was there on a good day, there were so many ladies and I had a good time there. I thought they were exceptionally cute though not very sophisticated. I also liked watching the band and the cuties doing the dancing shows...

I think MTR and Hotel Travel may have some potential from what I hear. Kartika was ok but I was just not into the layout or most of the ladies. There were some gems in some of the shops on that lane but I just was not into their setups.

You can buy Viagra Cialis and other stuff from the little cart vendors you will find outside of Lokasari. Exit Lokasari, make a left and you will see the carts after about a half a block, over by the street. They offered me stuff but I would show them my pack of Kamagra bought out in Thailand and we would have a laugh. Don't know how well this stuff works but in a pinch you can try these carts out.

The Price is Right... Just one of those surreal moments in Asia, in a place like that, with the wait staff dressed as pizza parlor cowboys, two girls in western hats dancing a jig (one really cute too) and some female sitting across from you with a Price is Right shirt on...
