On the corner of Jordan Road and Woosung St. (The actual address is G / F. 37AA1, Jordan Road, but it's on Woosung).

Nancy, the pharmacist, is very helpful and knowledgable.

Either ask her for specific meds, antibs etc for what purpose and she'll know where you're going.

I don't think buying such medications is actually 'under the counter' in HK either.

Has any one else had this problem? Twice recently I gave the waitress a large bill and she returned with change for $100. The first time was in Insiders. I clearly held up the $1,000 bill to show her and asked if she could break it. When she came back she did not look me in the eye. I felt something was wrong. I went to the manager, and he even let me see the video, but it is too poor quality to see anything. He followed up in the following days saying that there had been no excess in the till at the end of the night. Of course if she pocketed it there wouldn't be.

The second time was a week later at Denzone in Alley Alley. I gave the waitress a $500, again holding up first for her to see. When she offered no change I asked about it. She swore that it was only a $100, and invited me to look in the till, which had no $500.

In both cases I had only one large bill in my pocket. In both, I held up the bill for her to see first. But if they deny it, they say it is too loud and they never heard what I said, what can you do?

I have never had this problem before. Unless senility is sinking in. And wonder if this is a recent scam. I mean twice in a few weeks?

If an honest mistake, they will close the register and do a cash count with the manager right then. If a slight of hand, you will probably never find the bill even if you strip search the receiver of the large bill.

There had been a couple sting operations in town but it will never stop it; the temptation is too great. Always get small bills. Buy a stick of gum with your 1G at a store that will accept large bills like a 7-11. All hotels will break large bills for you. Alternatively, settle the drink with the cashier directly and not through other staff; even though there is no guarantee either.

If you like to flash large bills, just put it down to the cost of looking loaded.

Funny thing is that I have yet to get a bill larger than US$20 at an US ATM. Even in Indo, they are IDR50, 000 to IDR100, 000. However HK and China readily spits out HK / RMB1, 000 bills.

If not, you can get what you need or an UK equivalent by just asking each pharmacy you come across when walking from Central to Causeway Bay. It is not illegal to ask. You can pick up a syringe too.

Also, there is no excuse if you caught something... Doh!

Apparently tonight around midnight Makati was full. People had to wait in line for entry. Or could it be a case of Makati strictly following the licensing authorities number of patrons allowed in the venue.

In fact, one of my early experiences in Neptune 2 was when I gave the waitress $1,000, thinking it was $100. She brought the correct change and, when I was surprised, said "you must be new in HK, be careful". Since then I have tried to be careful, but really waitresses have been honest. Even the [few] times I had a too many, I have never seen one deliberately steal. Til now.

Anyway, more by way of warning. I am quite certain I am right; I gave them the big bills. And most likely the individual waitress, both Filipinas, pocketed it. It would never make it to the till. So be alert. Bring plenty of $100s into the bars.
