Imperial Mae Ping & Chiang Mai 20 hour visit
Was in BKK for a working visit and we spent one night in CHIANG Mai. We were housed at the Imperial Mae Ping and it was a really old old hotel and the put me with tiny twin beds and no internet connection. For one night, and after playing in BKK I didn't care much.
Went out to Old Chiangmai Cultural Center for dinner and it's a sit on the floor type dinner with a show put on the stage by more of hill tribe type cultural show. The food was OK and the show was OK. There was a second show after dinner but we ran off to the bazzar instead. That night we went behind the Imperial Mae Ping where there was a street of bars with touts out and there really wasn't much action going on but there was a thai kick boxing ring and limited fights going on, not really hard core but something to watch. As we didn't find much we walked back to the hotel and on the road to the hotel we were approached by ladies asking if we wanted company. They were nothing special so we went a little further to some shacks across the street.
There were two entrances and we asked the one on the left if we could get a beer and she said sorry, only women, so we went to the right and had a few beers and ended up picking up some girls from this little shack and taking them back to the room. Cheap, nothing special, and nothing I want to report about as it was basically service yourself which I happily did.
The next day we went to Baan-Tawai Handicraft Cluster which was excellent. Got to see the housing units making a lot of the crafts and picked up some excellent large crafts that we had to ship home. I would go back and spend more time at Baan-Tawai if I could. For lunch we went to La Gritta Italian Restaurant at the Amari Rincome Hotel and it was an excellent meal and would highly recommend folks to go there for meals if they are in Chiang Mai. After that, we flew back to BKK. Less then 20 hours in chiang mai.
