Even if one gets a negative test report today, due to the incubation period of various germs, it doesn't mean one is completely clear. So, there is always this risk vs reward only you can decide. For the most part, avoiding DFK and uncovered oral can prevent transmission of most STIs and from my understanding uncovered oral or DFK are not major factors although there have been a number of exceptions.
