The taxi fare calculator link when you do a yahoo search said the start tariff is 14 rmb, and then 3 rmb per km. But I think it is slightly higher, more like 3.7 rmb per km, and it may cost more after midnight (4.7 rmb per km). I saw those rates posted at the airport.
I know the feeling of being a newbie. You may want to use the search function if you have the name of a place in mind. And limit to more recent posts. Things change fast, places and girls come and go, so posts from more than a couple of years back may be outdated and not useful.

If you catch at cab at your hotel, that type of cab ride will be 30-50 RMB. The only time I have gotten ripped off by cabbies is getting a cab. At the Pudong station for the MagLev. There they have cabbies that are there to rip off the non-Chinese customer and you get the $200-$500 RMB price for something that should be $30-$50 since they expect you are new in country and if you new any better you would be taking the subway that is right across the street from the MagLev station.

I did it.
I checked places like: Lotus Sauna. Dong Jing Wan 968 - Jingyue Sauna Club. Han Sha Health. Dragonfly - Cypress Hotel Club and also if there is a good spa at Ritz-Carlton Pudong.
But I had no luck.
I visited a place 2 years ago. A big place with swimming pool, sauna, relax place with TV and drinks, and after that some girls came and we choose one to massage and BJ after massage. Was a great place. This is what I want! But don't know the name since I went with a former customer!

2. A couple of years ago a friend took me to an area in Puxi that was a high end area that had tall buildings, expensive stores.
And there was also a covered maze of restaurants and shops across the street.
Anybody have an idea what district that might have been?

The venues and marketing may change, but the supply and demand remain the same. When I was back in Shanghai six months ago, it was no trouble at all. One gal was simply hanging out by the elevator and propositioned me. It is a five star hotel so even my own jaded self was a little surprised. But she was hot and it saved me the trouble of hunting.

I haven't been back to the Middle Kingdom since 2008 and making a quick 3 day biz trip for trade show with business associates. Staying at InterContinental Pudong and did a search (yes I RTTF). The most recent posts date 2013 and all point to Merrylin across the street. No time to visit Puxi area.
Appreciate if the resident seniors can provide some guidance to any places nearby.

Although I have not been in a long time, I have still heard good things. They usually have a security guy at the door. If you walk toward him with a purpose, he will lead you down stairs. Last time I was there, there was a girl in a dress in the front area. She was very hot.
There is also an he MP near the hotel as well. Congen on the top floor if you want a veggie massage as well. And an element fresh 2 blocks away.
As far as the restaurants street, you are referring to Laowai Jie (foreigner street). It is across from HOng Qiao pearl city and is a cab ride from the hotels mentioned.
The german restaurant is ok, but the Italian at the end is excellent.
Lao wai Jie also has a bridge to cross the street to the HIlton HongQiao. Hong song SPA is that way near but I have not been there.

The high-end area you are asking about is probably xintianti. Close to downtown.

Compared with the area you will be now, Pudong is a "dry" place. Beside the Hongqiao area there is the Minghui District, and this is at the moment the most open area in Shanghai, many sauna clubs, massage parlors and so on. So you moved near the "monger paradise"!
