Hmmmmmm
I would like for more of the members who have been to Phuket in the past 6 months to verify if the recent statement about the cost of pussy is true. I have never been to Phuket, but was planning a trip this summer. But I am going for both types of diving, scuba during the day and muff at night.
From all I have read, Phuket is the place to go since the Sunami. Prices are supposed to be cheap and hospitality good. But again I have not been there. I have dove the Philippines for the past 6 years, diving is good and pussy is cheap.
Trust me DanTheMan I am not saying your wrong I am just doing my homework before I spend $2,000.00 on a trip there, when I would be better off just stopping in the Phils again.

Thats fine, no skin off my nose:) My place was relativley cheap (Burasari) - $100/ night australian $$. Was in a good spot. Phuket for eatign is good and cheap, hospitality is always good. Tours though are expensive and so are the women. Peronally I like Pattaya, its more laid back and less crowded. Patong was as crowded as crowded could get!!!
One pet hate about Phuket is all the Europeans. Now I know there is good and bad in everyone, but if some of those arrogant pricks spoke to me the same way as they spoke and treated the local Thais, they wouldn't be standing up straight for too long. Rude arrogant fuckers!

DanTheMan
Really, thank you. As I said I am just looking for other opinions, and observations. I do appreciate your feed back.
Hehehehe and I thought us Americans were supposed to be rude ones, wow.
But again your staying at places way to expensive than I would ever thing about, I am talking about staying at the Expat or others off Bangla Road, they are about $20.00 to $30.00 USD per night. Damn I won't pay $100.00 here in the USA.
I am a diver, scuba during the day and muff at night, so I am always looking for the best bang for my buck. Thanks again for your report DanTheMan.

Europeans!

Lion Killer,
If you are staying on patong Beach--expect to pay alot more for everything. There is nothing cheap at Phuket, transportation , decent hotels and gals much more than almost everywhere else in LOS (except for some areas of BKK)
The gals expect more and generally get more money as people going to Phuket have more to spend. I find that vacationers going here are more easy to part with there money and not willing to negotiate and haggle ,partly because they are not here for too long so dont want the hassle and just want to enjoy the moment--thus pushing up the prices for the rest of us.

Thanks for the reply. I have done my homework on hotels and as I said I can get an average hotel around Bangla Rd (not into high end hotels) for about $20.00 to $30.00 US dollars a night and over night guests are free of charge.
The cost of diving is average, as I have contacted several dive operators, its about $20.00 to $30.00 per dive, cheaper than Cozumel.
So that just leaves cost of pussy. I am very good at haggle and negotiations. Its half the fun of the hunt. Thanks for the info Phantom. Any one else is welcome to comment. Thants what this board is all about. Thanks guys.

DAn...
According to www.xe.com/ucc you paid 100.00 AUD Australia Dollars = 2,871.93 THB Thailand Baht a night and you call that relatively cheap.
In Thailand, relatively cheap is my Si Sket hangout, at B120 a night, stocked with B200 hookers and B20 pad si yu and B12 half liter Pepsis around the corner.
That's relatively cheap, because around the corner it gets real cheap at B100 for the room and B150 for the hookers. You'd have to walk a little further for your Pepsi tho.
My former fav hotel in Pattaya was cheap: B300 for an aircon room, great big bed, very clean. Too bad that the reception b*tch annoyed me so much that I won't be back. Now, I've moved base to a relatively cheap fan room with ice box and tv for B250.
Now back to Phuket. Once you take the time to find a good spot to stay for say B300-500, your pussy gets cheaper too. You'll see.
When will you start noticing that you pay too much and that it is your fault and nobody else's. Don't start blaming package tourists. They don't spend your money, you do.
Reliable sources tell me that Patong has gone way up in price after the Tsunami. But that Phuket Town is still the same. I always stay in Phuket town when I'm on the island so I don't have to deal with the Patong bullshit.
I just drive trough it on my B120 a day Honda and shake my head at them fools.
One of them would be you.
Dan,

British
Dan is correct. ALL Europeans ARE rude arrogant fuckers. Especially the fucking British.
Well I gotta admit, I agree with you about the British, especially the younger guys when they drink too much. But no way can you tar all Europeans with the same brush. Personally I find most Spanish people very friendly and quite humble and also the Irish.
For me the most arrogant are Americans, and rude is the French.
What do the rest of you think?

Yes, I was there after the Tsunami and correct as prices are way up, guess they are trying to make up for lost income. But I suspect prices here were always high even before the big wave hit.
Only wish I had the time to get to know Phuket town better, I was only there for several hours, maybe next time round I will find all the cheaper places there (with maybe some help from all you helpful bros of course).

Good Reports
Its good to see we have some action on costs now in Phuket. It does the board good for all your reports. Since I have asked my questions I have gotten very good results and am now planning to visit Phuket this summer.
As I said before I am a veteran of the Philippines and want to scuba/muff dive Phuket for a change in pace. Thanks for all the info guys. Keep it coming.

The JOhn Becker Report
FREELER SAID: When will you start noticing that you pay too much and that it is your fault and nobody else's. Don't start blaming package tourists. They don't spend your money, you do.
No no no....... I'm not blaming package tourists for the price of pussy in Phuket. I chose to pay $100 AUD a nite because that i smy decision. try finding a room in Melbourne for $100 AUD a night and you will struggle. In my eyes I like a bit of luxury on my holidays. I work hard all fucking year putting up with idiots, cretins, and the bottom wrung of society, and thus I like to treat myself for 4 weeks out of the year in my time......thats me. Like you said, I made that decision and I did. I have no problem with that. If I wanted mega cheap I'd have mega cheap. My point is that asking 4000 baht for LT or 3000 for ST is insane!!! I siad no to a heap of shelias whilst over there, and yes to others that I should've said no. But then again thats my second head doing the thinking for me, not the main one.
Now to the topic of rudness, the worst are (in no particular order), the whinging british, the french, germans and the russians. Obviously the russians travelling here have money, unlike the vast majority of their countrymen, so they figure they can treat everyone with disdain. Like I said earlier, there is good and bad in everyone. These are just the people I SAW! I know no-one from this board would be that rude, as we are all perfect gentleman :-)
Everyones welcome to their 2 bobs worth in this forum. This is just mine. Agree or disagree with me....fine, because in my eyes it opens up healthy discussion.

Freeler, you the man!
Looking back, when I visited Thailand on holiday, I paid a lot more, partly due to my ignorance and partly due to the fact that after 20+ hours on the plane (USA-BKK) I was hot to trot and didn't negotiate as much.
Now that I live here, paying less is like a game for me. I figure anyone can throw money around, so I take a different path, the discounted one.
Now when some babe quote me B1,500 ST, I nod serioulsy and point to a Japanese guy and say "OK Darling, see that man? He is a rich guy, he will give you fifteen hunred, sure!"
Now that I could care less (so many fish in the sea) they seem to read me and back off quoting silly prices. Sure, Im not going to get the go-go bar superstar for B500, but they are stuck in themselves anyway and I've found that the less popular babes deliver better service. After all, I'm not going to marry them, so I don't feel compelled to have a stunner.
I've had a few friends visit and even when I point out the bargains, they still overpay. I just think that it is the difference between living here (or knowing the scene very well) and visiting.
I'm not saying my way is the only way, but it works for me.
And Freeler, you still the man!

Phuket Hotel
Anybody know if Coconut Village in Patong Beach is GF or not?
And yes I RTFFd. This board has hardly any recommended hotels. Almost all the queries are asking about which hotels to stay. Maybe experienced Phuket mongers can start listing the hotels. That would be great.
Many thanks.
