At first, I thought maybe I am too cheap at 1500 - 2000B for LT. At these limits I generally don’t have any trouble getting what I want. Yes there are those who demand more but usually they can be negotiated with when I state XYZ bar girls are more than happy with my limit. The BG’s I can’t bring down are looking for more gullible punters.
I just can’t understand punters that persist in paying more than they must and that’s why I tried hard to find other goods & services in the Thai economy that over the last 18 years, could compare with the inflationary trend (3000B) for P4P being touted around this forum and perhaps somehow justify this amount.
In 1988, I was paying 300- 400 B for LT in Bangkok. Today some punters believe 3000B to be acceptable? That’s well over %700 increase.
The closest I could get to this inflationary trend was beer prices at bars (%450 – But beer at supermarkets was less than %200). Bus fares yielded less than %300 (Pattaya, Korat, HH, Phuket). The national minimum wage (then 76B, now 200B) about %240 increase. Other goods & services like food, room rates & air fares were less than %100.
Those comparing LT prices in Thailand to those they get at home will be getting exactly that if they extrapolate their accepted prices of today (3000B) and project them out to 6-7 years from now. (11000B LT??)
But it’s not all doom & gloom prices in Pattaya (and up country) are more or less pegged back with the national wage inflation rate.

My problem is that they keep mistaking me for one of them. Heck, I tried to tone down and disguise myself to be one of the average mongers, i.e. sandals vice dress shoes, short-sleeve shirts vice tailored oxford-style long-sleeve shirts with gold cufflinks, Seiko vs Rolex, worn/torn jeans vice silk-cashmere custom-tailored trousers, and Nivea roll-on vice Polo Special Edition. They still know I have deep pockets. :(
What can I do? They won't lower their prices. Even the non-pros or semi-pros demand all these expensive jewelry/perfume and fine dining at exclusive 5-star hotel restaurants. Why must I pay? Couldn't/wouldn't they love me for who I am?

After a two year hiatus, I am FINALLY making my way back to Thailand! I intend to go to my favorite haunts in the Sukumvit area where I had so much fun in the past. I was hoping for some updates from you guys that have been mongering there more recently.
