The girl who got that rate was using a Makati travel agency. I have a set rate at the Marco Polo which includes my Club Membership. But for guys travelling here,I do recommend you get an air and MP Hotel package to coverr the entire time you will be in Davao through a Makati City travel agency. If you contact the MP direct you can get a 20% discount by asking and perhaps a Corporate Rate (mention your Co and intent to visit frequently) that is lower. But a travel agency will do even better.

I will have my young son with me at some point. I then become a Father and that is all. Otherwise, I will be out and about frequently. The big titted travel agent in Davao is upset because I have not been calling her. I just work and sleep now. No time for much else. I still have a few ladies in Davao City who like me so it should be fine. She will be fine once I see her also.

Life here, or at least mine, is not all roses. It's the leisure-time activities that are more abundant, and lots cheaper here, but work is work and there's lots of it in my case.

I need to get the topic here off insulting me or my commenting on the Kid. My daughter's mother, an intelligent filipina (hot looking also), gave me great advice on him: "give up and stop thinking about him".

The current worldwide recession has been especially tough on the Philippines. I would guess that you should be able to negotiate great travel deals, especially to Davao City. Call in advance and inquire about discounted hotel rates. Mention that you intend to travel here frequently on business. As to the Marco Polo, I still think the best thing is to get a Travel Agency in Makati City to handle your entire booking package before you fly down from Manila to Davao. This should save you quite a lot. My guess is the Hotel is now experiencing very moderate occupancy. Business Travel is down and much fewer people taking luxury vacations.

GoodEnough told me that Ray and his Filipina wife are splitting up. This has the Hotel incurring some upkeep problems. But I would guess it will also offer some added room rate discounts. Neither Ray or his wife are stupid enough to allow the place to "go to hell". You should be able to get good deals on nice rooms. Expats love to exaggerate the troubles of guys living and gainfully employed in the Philippines.

In any event, ask for a nice discount everywhere. Travel is definitely down and people are spending less. We can use this to our advantage when coming here. As to the girls working in Hot Legs I-III and the other Clubs, it might be difficult. They have little idea of anything other than that westerners and Japanese/Koreans must pay a premium for them. I would still insist on a reduced rate.

It is just a waste of time to have to respond to insults and this nonsense. I am a Professional in my daily life. I spend my day s dealing with business owners and professional athletes. This is supposed to be about having fun. Some guys hate me for the same reasons guys like Bones in my City hated me. Try to rise above Bone Collector, a very creepy, pathetic individual. He spent countless hours on ISG yet denied knowing its existence and did not ever join, let along post here. Told me ISG would damage his reputation (what reputation??) so he was a non member, lurker when I ceased all contact with him in early 2004. He might have been "forced" to join since to view photos (bones lives for photos of women).

After reading this back and forth I may have to rethink what mandrake had to say. Why can't we all just communicate nicely with one another. It makes you almost not want to post anymore. If you do not think like these 'senior members' then what ever you have to say is negated and or ridiculed. You guys are not the only ones who travel or live in a foreign land. I myself have been doing this for 10+ years. Maybe not as long as some, but long enough to sometimes know WTF I am talking about.

DS I may not always like your style but you never put anyone down when they post, unless of course the are being a huge ass troll. I wanted to say I appreciate that and keep up the good work.

Hi all!

Been down to the sunny side a couple of times since last time I posted and there is a rapid increase in white guys (as mentioned before) and hungry girls (with equally hungry families) in Davao. This has also been touched before but I am experiencing an increase in the amount of desperate texts and offers I get. Now as some might know, I like to fraternize with all types of girls. Also the poorer and "simpler" ones, so I quite a few of the girls that have my number will try some bs story if so even to get a few hundred pesos. They naturally most often end up in my bed with a little (or huge if I get all tear eyed) cab fare.

Apart from this, most is the same. Did some trips out to Times Beach and surroundings on the bike and the place can be fun if your not to high profile. Some great sea food down there.

Partied with Dutertes bragging nephew a couple of evenings a while ago. Maybe the only guy I ever saw in Davao that did NOT score pussy during the two nights I overlooked his desperate yet futile attempts to impress the females with his gangsta style US English. He was to cool to ask for a number, but still a pretty friendly heart behind all his make up. Like most "gangstas".

183 is reopened and is still very good. Idol, Pescados, etc on Torres are still pretty safe bets to meet females. Autoshop is still Autoshop for good or for bad. Station91 is not unsafe, no matter what people tell you. And even if it is, I'd say that the audience strip tease makes it all worth wile.

For the ones that loves a bit more upscaled resorts but want to try something other than for example Pearl Farm or Chemas, I can recommend BaliBali, a bit south from Pearl Farm and Blue Jazz. Either take the bike/4 wheel car down from Babak, passing all the resorts facing Davao, or use the 1500 peso (2-10 pax) banka from Insular. Day visit is around 1000 peso / pax. BaliBali suite over night is 4500 for 2 pax. Garden Vila is 3500 p.

There's a new mini-shopping center called Robinsons Cybergate on JP Laurel, a little south of Swiss Deli and on the other side of the street. It's just opening this week and next and tonight we went to a new Thai place in the shopping center, called Bangkok Wok. It's owned by a young Filipino couple who went to school in New York, and it's got excellent traditional Thai food.

The place is very attractive, with a sort of minimalist decor and it's got seating for about 35-40 inside and another 15 or so at the outdoor tables. It's also the first place in Davao I've ever gotten sticky rice with mango, one of my favorite Thai deserts. This is not going to be any type of pick-up place for sure, but it's a great place to go with a date. The crowd was mainly well-dressed Filipinos and the prices are reasonable. We ate for about Php1, 100 a couple and we ordered lots of food.

I suspect that this marks the beginning of a new restaurant boomlet here, as I'm sure the new Ayala Center and the new SM, both of which are in the same area, will also house some new restaurants.

How does it compare the one on Torres? I love Thai and had a vast number of thai meals over the globe. Sad to say, I miss a good option in Davao. The place on Torres is lottery. Some days they will be lucky and serve something OK but most days it is below my acceptance level for thai food. Thai dishes made in to Philippino style food is just not interesting at all. How is it possible to get shrimp spring rolls to taste lechon manok with unlimited rice? Or a perfectly fine thai crab curry to taste chicken adobo? It is beyond me.

While on the topic of Asian food. Didn't Tsuru on Legaspi decline? Or is it just me that grew tired of it? The sake makes the visit nowadays. And sometimes 2-3 types of the fish is fresh enough for a good sushi. The rest is just over cooked or unfresh. Moan moan Barba, why don't you stay at home if it is that bad? Well, fist of all I can't and second we don't have those petit beaver burgers up here in alco land.

An injection of good restaurants anywhere in Davao is more than welcome in my opinion. The problem is not to get the females to go with the meal, it is to come up with a restaurant that does not make you consider Prozac just thinking of yet another visit.

I don't eat on the one on Torres any longer, which is called Krua Thai. The food is so mediocre that I find it a total waste of money. This one is much better, though whether it will be able to maintain the standard is still open to question. For now however, it serves authentic Thai food.

I'm going to Davao on the 9th of July, so I went looking for cheap airfares from Manila. Well, forget about the big sites like Orbitz, Expedia, etc., they wanted $300+ for the flight. I went directly to Philippine Airlines's site and got the ticket for about $100. Just a little money-saving tip for you Davao travelers.

Anyone else going to be there about that time?

You might be able to get a less expensive fare on Cebu Pacific if that airline happens to be engaged in one of its frequent promotions during the time that you're here.

Cebu just introduced a Davao-CDO flight that I took for the first time from CDO to Davao yesterday and the cost was less than Php900 (about $18). Spending fifty minutes in a small plane sure beat the hell out of the usual 6 hour drive.
