Racism in the Philippines
When my Filipina wife of 7 years first came to the US, I introduced her to some friends, one of whom was a black man. My wife casually commented to me,"Oh, he's such a nice Nigger guy." I was absolutely floored by the cavalier way she said that, and asked my wife why she would call such a nice man a "Nigger," which we all know as an outrageously racist and derogatory term.
It turned out that my wife never intended any sort of insult, nor did she hold any negative view of black people. It was simply that, where she was from, the term "Nigger" was just another word for "Negro," and was a common way to describe a black person. Of course, I told her that in this country, the term "Nigger" is a terribly insulting term, and that she should NEVER use that word, or she would be labeled a racist. My wife apologize profusely, and has never said that word again. Today, she has many black coworkers and friends, and there is not a racist bone in her body.
So, I don't think that Filipinos are necessarily "racist," per se, they are simply uneducated, given the fact that there are not a lot of black people in the Philippines, especially in the provinces, although there are many darker skinned Filipinos.

Chocha Monger and Coon Cheese
Really? While Australians whites are some of the most hospitable and fun people to work with, many still refer to aboriginals as 'coons.
Really? Where did you pick up that piece of misinformation. Your getting mixed up with a brand of Australian Cheese. See Wikipedia below. Coons might have been used by the British Colonisers 100 or so years ago, but I've never heard it in my life time. It can be mildly derogatory to refer to aborigines as "abo's". Depends on context, if such expression is considered mildly insulting or not. They always refer to me as aborigine, never "abo". Nice cheese, harmless expression, LOL.
