That's a bit broad
The surcharge is an attempt to keep non-Asains out. Yep, racism exists. Most Asians would rather non-Asians not sleep with the gals they are sleeping with. Kind of like many white folks get all weird when black dudes sleep with white chicks. Just pure dee old racism.
The surcharge exists to keep SE Asians out. Straight racism but understandable. The surcharge exists for Caucasians because they are rich. Never underestimate Thai avarice.

Hey,
I noticed that 'BB' from Cherry Massage has a ring on her finger. Are some of these massage ladies married?
It surprised me a bit, but not too much. I'm just curious.
Not really. Soapy customers come from many different countries. If some customers need a bath badly, then they certainly get one. LOL.
I have been told that Japanese customers tend to have very bad breath (a generalisation heard from girls. Smokers?) but I don't know if the mouth gargle really fixes that or not.
I believe Farang surcharges get applied to all except those with SE Asian appearance. I envy the Chinese Americans as they get a better price. So Indians, Arabs etc. Know by Thais as "Khaek" will be charged same as Farang.
True Thai people have racial prejudices but Indians can be well accepted depending on grooming, attitude and behaviour. So it really depends. Classy guys accepted just about anywhere. Pinching girls breasts hard is something girls don't like and is behaviour that gives a few different countries a bad name. Just an example of a gross generalisation I have heard from girls.
Those ilikemassage girl photos sometimes look like the real girl. Sometimes not so close.
Well, I don't want to be racist, but I just came from Thailand. You are right it's not all about money. However it's not much about skin colour or race as well. I am from a SE country and living in North America. I know how the majority think about western people, especially when they are not groomed. Once I had a friend from Germany travelling on budget.
However in those countries, many people are meant to treat outsiders (even from another town) as hospitality is part of the culture. So western people sometimes would misunderstand the treatment. However although it's not 100, money + grooming + attitude will make the situation best to worth in many places, based on my experience.

Shops localization
When I was visiting Bangkok, I was looking for a Thai massage salon close to me but the only salon I know was located at the opposite side of town. Is there an apllication or a website who gives you all massage's shops near to your position?
How many pops you get at DHMS26?
Sorry, I know nothing much about pops as am much more a GFE player and want good looking girls with sexy natural bodies to my taste (skinny but curvy). Otherwise I would probably stick to PSE type shops. Its not common that I ever attempt a 2nd pop, and then only at PSE type shops, with the famous superstars (like Bo at Cherry). So yesterday I got multiple pops but each one at a different venue with a little rest gap. Maybe I had the powers and horniness for 2 pops at first shop Boss, but the newbie girl was very sensitive and would not have had the stamina to go the distance. She needed a rest more than I did. I never really ask about multiple pops for the sake of the board (not on my mind at the time) and rarely even remember to find out how well the girls can speak English. May at DHM was also a newbie so I don't know if she would have the stamina that I associate with the PSE shops.
For guys that pop really easily, I don't see why could not have more than one, but I just don't know how the shops operate.
My Boss girl Nim understood basic English, and probably also May at DHM26 as she studies IT.
The surcharge exists to keep SE Asians out. Straight racism but understandable. The surcharge exists for Caucasians because they are rich. Never underestimate Thai avarice.
I don't think your point is very clear. Are you saying the surcharge has different reasons for different groups, rather than just racism?
In the end, speculation about the reasons is only guesswork for all of us, somewhat fruitless. The fact is that the surcharge exists, very steep at some shops, and whatever reasons they might give for it, they may not be the entire truth. Its also hard to find very high priced Soapy girls (with surcharge included) that are really worth the money. Unfortunately I still get tempted by high priced super lookers. My favourite girl at Amsterdam is in a higher bracket and with surcharge added makes her cost more than say a great Annies girl. She is very nice looking though from Chiang Rai, and that somehow boosts my horniness a lot.
It's just too easy to fuck very average looking girls and I have got bored with that. They really must have something special for me. Face must be well above average, and I like a hot body too. I don't repeat any soapy girl lacking a great face, great body, and good performance. Not many measure up to all 3 conditions. I understand that other guys on the forum are using price as a much more dominant selection criteria. So in that case I don't believe a high Farang surcharge is tolerable.
Although Farang technically means foreigner, it is normally used for non-Asians, and most likely to mean Caucasian. Thais have other words for other groups of foreigners. However for the Farang Surcharge, it seems to apply to anyone not of SE Asian appearance. Not sure how it applies to people of mixed race ancestry where its hard to pick their origin. Perhaps I will ask my papasan for a detailed explanation some time. Speaking good Thai doesn't help me avoid being a Farang unfortunately even though I have gained entry to some Thai museums for Thai price when I claimed to be Thai as a joke. Even people born in Thailand with wrong ancestry could be subject to Farang surcharge.

Farang is definitely an impolite term. There is a polite term,"chow tang chat," but it is rarely used.
-
Farang doesn't technically mean foreigner, it means Caucasian. It's not necessarily an insult, it's simply a racial classification. The term for foreigner is kon thang prathet and includes all non-Thai citizens.
In Thailand there's a racial hierarchy with East Asians at the top (light-skinned Thais consider themselves part of this group which also includes Chinese, Koreans and Japanese) and Caucasians beneath them gaining a degree of respect. Other darker racial groups are looked down on.
The term 'Asian' is confusing because it means different things in different countries. In Thailand it means East Asian or Southeast Asian. Indians are definitely not included but (as someone else pointed out) are classified as khaek along with Arabs.

So I was far too simplistic. Apparently the word is suspected to come from the first part of the Thai best approximation to "Français." which is Farang-seht. Frenchies were dominant westerners in Thailand at one time in the history. I agree that "Asian" is a confusing term too. It doesn't correspond to races very well.
I don't hear "khon dtang phrathet" use much by Thais in informal situations. When a Thai child answers the phone and I speak Thai asking for his parents, I hear him call out to his parents that a Farang has called on the phone based on my accent even though he cannot see my racial aspects and doesn't know me. I guess its a western accent (but not American). Americans speaking Thai are usually very easily picked as American (or maybe Canadian) as the drawl is still there. The child cannot see if I am Asian or not but still calls me a Farang (by default).
Yes was me mentioned "Khaek" before. You are right that Farang is mainly used for Caucasian foreigner, but not for "Khaek", even though Arabs are strictly considered to be a sub-class of Caucasians but not "westerners". I'm not sure if Mexicans / South Americans are considered are considered to be Farang. I assumed so, but may depend on skin colour.
Quoting Thai-language. Com (for Farang) :
"non-Asian foreigner, [usually] Caucasian [see notes]" The notes went on to explain it means Caucasian or westerner. Many westerners are not be strictly Caucasian (and visa versa) and there can be many mixed races scenarios. However a pure Chinese man born in the USA would not be called a Farang.
Anyway, in a Soapy MP sense, Farang surcharge is applied to many foreigners who are not strictly "Farang". This is the important part for us mongers. Guys that look SE Asian will tend to escape from Farang surcharge. The rest won't, I believe. Some guys could be borderline cases. I saw a German with his Thai wife and half Thai kids with blond hair. I guess they will called Farangs even if have a little bit Thai look.
Thai girls get categorised as "mia Farang" too, meaning they get charged more at the market in parts of Thailand because they have a Farang husband or boyfriend. Even ones that are no longer with Farang. That is serious discrimination and an extension of the Farang surcharge principal spread right through the Thai system.

My Thai GF never allows me to go shopping with her on the fresh markets. :( She says if they suspect she is with a farang the price will increase by at least 50%. Of course if I go shopping the price increases 100% (at least).

This is a lot of BS

I go to fresh markets and actually get better prices, well same price but more quantity or better quality than many Thais. I do frequent the same vendors as repeat customer.
But I can give you many examples of being treated better than fair. My latest was buying shrimp. The guy went in the back and pulled out fresher product than was on display but at the same price.
If you just watch what Thais pay and then just pay the same they can't over charge you. Or don't buy.
It's not bullshit. It depends on the location. Places with a lot of Farangs buying may give fair prices. Way up country where Farangs are rare can be different prices for GF of a Farang. My GF always wants me to be scarce in country markets where there is no fixed price for items and must be bargained. Some basic food items may have a fixed price but not clothes plants, handbags etc. Some places even set different prices for basic items like meat and fish.
Even in Chatujak market my GF would prefer me to stay away unless I am paying.
Some places selling mainly to Farang have permanent inflated prices. Eg the fruit stall near suk Soi 33/1 Villa Markt.
This is not a country where Farang can get same price as aThai and even GF of Farang cannot always get Thai price. It depends on attitude of the seller.

As I do not live in Thailand, none of the vendors will remember me when I come back in six months or so. And besides, we like to travel around when I am in Thailand, so it are always new shops and market stalls I meet.
Or perhaps I just look like a generous guy. Even the toilet lady charged me 10 baht rather than the 5 baht which which was clearly announced on the wall behind her.
