Later, arriving from Sydney, things were taken care of in the plane after paying for the voa at Sydney airport.
This is super convenient, I had it twice as well. No queuing. Can only be done on Garuda Indonesia flights though. Have a great time in Jakarta.

VoA
Maybe your flight was an exception. I arrived about a month ago from Europe and had to queue two times: to buy the voa and to have the visa glued in my passport. Later, arriving from Sydney, things were taken care of in the plane after paying for the voa at Sydney airport.
Strange. Are they differentiating between ports of departure or airlines or what?
Both in June and December I bought my VoA at a desk at the start of the "arrival hall" and got my VoA sticker attached at the same time. In December I then mistakenly queued with the Indonesians but was duly sent back at the start of the travelator and pointed in the direction of the "exit" sign. This led to the baggage claim area.
Garuda has been offering the onboard VoA service for some years now, but for long haul flights I no longer fly with Garuda due to the cramped seating.

Ko.

Regards,
Ko.
I'm not quite sure what the issue is here. The normal procedure for those who are going to get a VOA is to go to the VOA window, pay for the VOA, and then proceed maybe five or ten meters to the immigration windows that are dedicated to processing foreigners, and are essentially next to the VOA windows. There the immigration officer will paste the VOA into the passport and stamp it. You then walk down a lane to the baggage area, where before leaving the lane someone, if awake, will look at your passport to make sure this has all been done.
Depending on time of day, and so forth, there may be a line for the VOA's, and there may be a separate line for immigration processing. I fly business class, try to be the first off the plane, and run to immigration, so I often do not have to queue. But sometimes I do, at both lines, particularly if another plane has arrived just before mine. I have seen more than 100 people in the VOA line after arriving on an ANA flight (fortunately, they were behind me as I ran to the VOA window from the plane). I suspect this is because ANA is a Japanese airline and most of the passengers likely were Japanese who were going to enter via a VOA. A couple of times I also had to wait for more than fifteen minutes in the immigration line to get my passport stamped and the VOA glued in. In one case it was during an ASEAN (sp?) event, and the immigration officers were closely screening everyone, thereby slowing down the progress of the line.
The only exception to the above is when flying Garuda from certain ports of entry one can purchase a VOA before boarding, and immigration agents are on the airplane to paste the VOA into the passport and stamp it. Or, for those who do not need a VOA, the immigration officer simply stamps the passport. I suspect Garuda only does this on the bigger planes, as I have flown into Jakarta on some smaller Garuda planes and they did not offer this service. But they do from Narita, and based on some other posts here apparently do so from Sydney as well.

Ayu and Mila
How much is the BJ in the VIP room?
Is more available?
Yesterday I was at D's Place (now under new ownership, mr. John, according to the girls) and I re-established contact with Ayu, already dancing there for some time. She is the one wearing the shortest dress with a string underneath. I took her to the VIP-room together with her colleague Cha Cha and got one of the best BJ's I had there for quite some time. Back in the bar we talked for a while and I invited her to my room with her colleague Mila (already early 30's but new at D's).
Of course they were one hour late due to macet, but we spent an enjoyable couple of hour together. 700 k + taxi for each.
Both are not exactly large breasted and visibly had kids, but are still tight and are eager to please.
Pictures in the photo thread.
Jakarta newbie, but veteran of many spots around the world seeks advance. I will be in Jakrata for five nights in the not too distant future, and then off to some work in Bandung. Will have free time after a week of work and then will probably come back to Jakarta for five or six days.
After reading the forum a good deal, I am thinking of spending three nights in North Jakarta / Kota (this includes the first night when I get in very late) at the Mecure Jakrata Kota, and then moving down for my last couple of nights to Central Jakarta or father south to Blok M. I understand that the traffic is just hell, which would explain why I am thinking of the two areas as distinct sections of the trip. Does this seem sound? I assume I can get back and forth to BATS from either area, as long as it is after 10 pm, correct? I think I have read under half an hour IF it is after 10 pm, yes? Will Bats freelancers be "cool" with coming up to Cota.
About my preferences- I far prefer long time / all nighters to hour spa visits (although, will pertake). I eat "local" everywhere I travel to (most countries in Latin America, PI, LOS, Cambodia, Maylasia, ect ect) - I love markets, night markets, street food, and day time wanderings through "funky" areas. I am very self contained and don't need a lot of day time activities- I will spend a couple of hours a day reading and working out. I love megalopolisis- yes, that even includes enjoying walking around various "cities" in metro Manila (during the day).
Other questions. I am not clear about the best places / strategies for freelancers in North Jakarta / Kota? Some info about some of the discos, but there is a great deal of trepidation about addicted woman. Any thoughts?
Also, midpriced hotels (40-70 dollar range) suggestions for the second leg of the trip? I am open to anywhere interesting with good walking around, and not too far from freelancers at night. Hotel should have a gym.
About me. Pushing fifty look thirties, into extreme fitness (HIIT mostly), love to dance have have no problem blending in in places where late 20's to early 30's reveleres are welcome. Obliviously, any younger and "normal" places are foolish. Actually like hitting "normal" dance clubs at times to try my luck with non P4 P and "the grey area", but rely on P4 P. My favorite places are dance clubs where freelancers and "normals" mix, or where there are regular girls who are more than thrilled to look. I also love freelancer discos (which means, BATS is a must, right).
I know, a ton of questions, and hopefully they do reflect the fact that I have done a ton of RTFF.
Sorry for the rambling post.
Would love some thoughts and feedback. Thanks.

Dude, in response to your request for info in order of your questions below, and seeing as your a senior monger and done your RTFF, then here is my 200 rupiahs worth.
Stay at the Mecure, its a good loco. I wouldn't move hotel just to be near BlokM. Don't worry about the blokm taxi ride, by the time you leave the Blok it will be 1 am-ish, so the trip will be 30 mins tops, at 1 am its 15 mins from BATS.
BATS girls go everywhere, most BATS girls end up in the BLOK BTW, if theres no customers or too much competition in BATs. I could be challenged here, but I have frequently seen just as good talent in Top Gun as in BATS, albeit at 2000-300 k less. And YES BATS FL's have no problem going to Kota, the Mecure is respectable and its central.
I concur, I prefer allnighters than spa girls any day of the week. Spa girls are for Chinese with small dicks and no charming qualities to collect normal girls. FL's are for tourists. The ones in BATS for tourist with big wallets, remember FL's have a choice and it makes a big difference! And lets face it, we all like a challenge (even if sometimes its like fish in a barrel).
As far as the food goes. Make your own call. If you've eaten street food in other developing countries, then you'll be ok. Just be smart. Usual stuff in other counties, cooked food, busy stalls, clean cutlery, etc. A really good option in my opinion is if your happy with street food got to the 'warungs'. Their a step up from street food, but in reality only a small amount of price increase. Basically street food in a basic restaurant setting (very basic). You can sit down and chat to locals and find where the good girls are. The benefit is they have running water which is a must IMHO for cleaning cutlery, the street option of the 2 bucket strategy aint cutting it for me guys. Also, you often find the successful street food stalls end up in this manner (also look for 'warteg' - more food choices really, especially looks for padang food 'masakan padang' but maybe another dollar or two for a good feed). In fact without digressing too much, you got to try some masakan padang, google away my friend.
Discos in Jakarta are an acquired taste, I assume you mean the hardcore stuff as reference to your comment about the girls being on it. The hardcore Kota clubs are only for those who are young or young at heart and have an inclination for dance music, if your NOT then you will be annoyed with the amount of young hotties off their face, the unique kota tribal dance music, the damn damn loud music and the very very dangerous conditions (my biggest problem is relaxing when I'm in a club full of people off their face, on the 4th floor and there is 1 exit in and out). Back to freelancers in Nth Jakarta. Ok so again I am going to be controversial here, but the way I see it is every single Indonesian girl under 30 in Nth Jakarta, without a BF and not Indo Chinese IS after 10 pm a freelancer. OK Ok so I am generalizing, but basically get out around Hayum Waruk and Lokassari at midnight and their all on the game.
So, I am still not quite sure what type of nightclub scene you like. BATS is like Brix in singapore, high end western music full of westerners on high salaries. Ditto CJ's.
If you like or want to try the hardcore stuff its Kota for sure, but you got to occasionally deal with warm beer.
Drop me a note when your in town, if I am free I can show you a few favs in Nth Jakarta.
P.S. First night you arrive late right, well BATS is open till 3 am and BlokM same. Nth later again, but the spots up there are more of a challenge for a newbie first time.
Cheers HHM.

Hey mate, I just reread your post, I think I gave too much emphasis to crazy clubs up north, maybe after a few beers that's where my mind is at present.
I'd say stick with BATS, TOP GUN, MyBar and CJS, if you will pay western bar prices, But if they aint doing it for you venture elsewhere. I might add the language will be barrier outside of those places may be a challenge. But far from impossible for an intrepid monger.

Great post HHM.
Yes I'm a it of a North guy being a Chinese Aussie.
I love my pork dishes and can only really get in the North Jakarta Chinese area.
Yes most of the girls walking around the Lokasari area are WL.

Nth later again, but the spots up there are more of a challenge for a newbie first time.
To start my big 2015 SEA trip I will be flying into Jakarta late at night after an impossible 26 hour duration flight from the south eastern USA on United Airlines and her sister carrier Ana. My flight is scheduled to arrive at around 11:30 pm local time. I will be tired for sure, but I know from many past experiences of arriving into HKG and MNL at night after a long flight that my adrenaline will be pumping and sleep is out of the question. So the issue is where to go on my 1st night back in town to kick things off right and have a really good time. After a little thought I whittled it down to 3 possiblities: Bats, Blok M, or Malioboro (Malio Club). Then it was an easy decision and not much of a contest which of the three to head for. So after I check into my hotel and freshen up a little, I will be going straight to Malioboro or Malio Club (don't know which until I get there) where I know I am going to have a guaranteed great time with little or no effort. (Remember, I am going to be tried from the long flight and do not want a sleepover.) Afterwards I will crash and reset my internal clock. I am really looking forward to my 2nd trip to Jakarta. The girls here are among the best in Asia.

Visiting Jakarta soon
I have been to Jakarta once before about 4 years ago. Veteran of many other countries but still something of a newbie in Indonesia. Returning for a second time in a few days time for my second tour, this time armed with RTFF info.
Anyone up for a day / night out, PM me.
Cheers,

Hard Hat Mate- Thanks so much for your very detailed post- it was very helpful. I will send a PM. As a follow up, I love diversity in clubs- I am sure CJs and BATS will be great, and actually love love hard house, tribal and other electronica. Not every night, but.
Thanks for the hotel feedback. One more question. Work colleagues are going to pick me up in Jakarta from a couple hours away. Will the Mercure Kota scream "monger in sex tourist area", or will it be a fine place for them to come and get me. I will actually have six nights before they come for me, and after a bit more reading, am thinking of staying the whole time there. Yet, if it will raise questions, I will move a more business oriented hotel in Central Jakarta.
Beyond excited for this trip- one month to go.

Yea you are right
Your mistake, with the greatest of respect, was even discussing the price.
After you have enjoyed the lady's company, and she's all showered, dressed up and ready for the door, slip her a previously prepared 500,000 (if it was short time, I have no idea of long time prices, others can provide that info but the procedure is the same) into her pocket or purse, give her a peck on the cheek and a pat on her pert ass as you usher her out the door. Once in a while she may check the money as she is leaving (and in fairness there are cheap assholes out there who would lead her to do so) and pout sadly and say "Tambahin dong" ("Give us a bit more, eh? " ) . If she did a great job and her pout melts your heart, with a look of feigned exasperation you can slip her an extra fifty, if she wasn't worth it, a friendly wink and a slightly firmer pat on the backside toward the open door will do the trick.
Rest assured you will have paid a fair wage for a fair job. Honor will be even and no distress will have been caused.
I am a bit late in responding but I do have some details to share with the forum. Yes I do agree that discussing was a mistake but I tried to avoid that after I realized my mistake up front in not asking. But while I was trying to leave with her (she can't speak English), about 4:30 am her friend came running after us to discuss on her behalf.
I did see her a few more times in My Bar and she was in that 'clique' of girls, the group of cuties that hang out together. Maybe that's the new 1 M gang.
Anyway I did meet some others that were not so cute and they started at 800 k but was negotiable. Maybe this new gang have their set price and won't discount.
The few times I did see her after she ignored me (as expected) but I didn't see her with anyone else either, as night's end she would leave with her friends alone (as far as I can tell).
Anyway live and learn and me other posts will explain maybe not going with her was a mistake.
And I also agree with Smoothy's comments about the quality of girls in Blok M they are mostly 4/5 but once in a while you do get a gem.

Regular Girls
Just returned from my holidays in Jakarta and I must say the quality and quantity of girls in Blok M has decreased considerably and I have been going there for many years. In my previous post I did explain my meeting with the M $ baby, but I did also meet some regular girls that maybe would be 4/5. They seem to have a fixed routine for asking price start at 800 but they are negotiable and will discount.
I can't speak Indonesian so I try to meet someone who can speak a little English. First girl I met had a baby and it showed when we returned to the hotel, and she was just a regular performer nothing special so just went with her the 1 time. Did see her a few more times in the bar but only Hi / Hello I didn't want to repeat. However, 2 days before I left I saw her with a group of her friends (Saturday night) and there was some beauties in that group, I didn't approach as I feared the 1 M price tag once again.
The second person also had a baby but she was more in shape, flat stomach, and nice legs but she can swear like a drunken sailor. She was ok but again not special but I did repeat a few times after recovering from her abusive texts.
The next person I met was a disaster, I finally know what the term "dead fish" means. Was I ever suckered with this girl.
