Over the last 30 years I've traveled all over the world with my business and never had an issue with theft from a hotel safe. Actually I was never concerned about it. However I do stay at 4 star and above hotels and make sure there are room safes before booking or a hotel safe. But I prefer room safes.
Almost correct.

But if some thing left behind in the room, after checking out most of the time never getting back. The most bad thing happened in Thailand with me, I left my shirt in the room closet. Next day it was not returned back because there were a bill of 100 usd in the pocket. Totally declined. The least good thing happen with me in Manila. For short time, I use Hotel SoGo rooms and I have a discount card. The SoGo beside EDSA LRT station I left my discount card and after 20 days when I back to that hotel they returned me back.

Happy Hunting.
It's puzzling to me how Korean mongers seem to have such an outstanding influence on the South East Asian scene given their small size as a country (51 million) and decent ($33 k) but not quite US ($75 k) or UK ($47 k) level of per capita GDP. In less than 5-10 years they have developed a reputation as big spenders and have come to dominate the scene in many countries. They have completely taken over Angeles in Philippines, and now represent the primary top-end clients in Pattaya. They clearly punch above their weight as far as spending power and the commensurate downstream effects on price levels effect us all.

Another puzzling thing about the Koreans is reports (albeit hearsay), that they are not particularly demanding in the bedroom, seeing the actual sex as secondary or tertiary activity to group bonding (drinking an playing cards with other Korean men). The "make it rain" attitude is mostly about demonstrating wealth to other Koreans and a magnetic pull to the ladies- but they are not converting this in the bedroom apparently. Western mongers are known for long demanding sex sessions but the "3 minute, 3 inches, 3 thousand" (baht or pp) adage hints at a different type of experience.

I understand the South Asian fetishization of their lighter skin, and the cultural hegemony of their cultural exports (K-pop), but is this and their proximity to the mongering areas all that really explain their dominance? It does not make sense that there would be more big spenders from this small peninsula than the many countries that make up the Western, English speaking world.

Maybe we need to Steel-Man this hypothesis- is there any "there" there- or is this a case of the type of inevitable cultural friction that arises from breeding opportunity competition and just brings out the xenophobia, colonial prejudices and mischaracterizations?

What do K-Americans or K-Brits make of it all being able to see into both realities?

Anyone have any insights that I might've missed?
Put yourself in avg Thai Sex Worker shoes.

One hour full price ez going Asian or More than one hour with all kinds of needs and wants and guy also wants discount. Hahaha.

Full price being 3 k for short time being Baseline.

I once had the battery die in my room safe in Koh Samui. Getting it opened was not a simple matter, hotel management maintained close control of the keys to the safe. Getting my safe opened to replace the battery was a pain in the neck. I feel quite secure with my valuables locked in my room safe. Now that I've said that, I'll probably get ripped off next time I'm in Thailand.

Had the battery fail shortly after setting my pin both in a 4 star hotel in Toronto, as well as in Areca in Pattaya. Needed to have maintenance unlock and reset the safe both times. But they do indeed have a master key.

Anyone have any insights that I might've missed?
I'm not Korean, but I have lived in Korea for a very long time and I monger in Korea without much issue (I'm white, but speak Korean which makes it possible). I don't have much to say about Koreans in Thailand, but you might be interested to know that there are plenty of Thai sex workers in Korea. I think it's safe to say that there are 1000's of them working in Korea at any given time. However, in Korea the sex business is almost completely underground, and requires that customers sign up for an online site similar to fiwfans in order to make a reservation to meet at a nondescript studio apartment.

Most of the places where Thai women work only allow Koreans to visit, but I've managed to become a regular customer at a handful of them. From what I understand this is exceedingly rare. I'm not saying that I am the only non-Korean customer getting serviced in Korea, but among the women I have asked, I am the only non-Korean customer they have ever met in this country.

Based on my experiences, here's what I can definitively say about Thai women working in Korea and their Korean customers:

-The Thai women who work in Korea are generally young (19-28 years old) and beautiful. On the whole, the Thai women working in Korea are more beautiful than those working in Thailand, that is, they are almost all from the upper half of the beauty spectrum. That being said, I have been paired with one or two women who were not my type because of acne scarring or weight issues. Thankfully, these women are rare and fairly easy to avoid.

-The Thai women is Korea tend to have fair skin.

-Quite a few have babies being raised by family in Thailand.

-A lot of them get plastic surgery and dental work done in Korea.

-1 in 3 are excited to be with a white guy, act horny as fuck, and don't need any lube. Another third are worried about taking on a big dick. The remaining third are ambivalent and just do their job.

-They stay in Korea for 1 to 5 years or until they get caught and deported.

-They come to Korea because they can easily get 4-8 customers a day, 7 days a week.

-Prices are fixed across the entire industry. At current exchange rates it's 60 usd for 30 min and 1 shot; 115 usd for 70 min and 2 shots. There are plenty of other menu options.

-As a rule, Korean guys don't go down on the women. Asian machismo or worries about dirty pussy? I doubt they are worried about dirty pussy, because most of them like it raw. Going raw costs an extra 20 usd.

-Koreans like to spend ostentatiously. Treating one's friends to a good time builds one's reputation and doing illicit activities together creates deep bonds that are hard to break.

-Koreans love to travel abroad. Korea is a small country, and one always runs the risk of being seen by friends, family, or acquantainces. Koreans who travel abroad feel free from societal pressures and thus do as they please, unfettered. They go wild in Thailand to release all the pent up pressure brought on by the demands of career and family.

-Relationships in Korea are often utilitarian and transactional. People make friends with those who will help advance their career. Women focus on family background and real estate holdings when seeking a partner for marriage, and guys pay the going rate for sex as long as they get the services they are promised.

-When Koreans drink they tend to binge. It's assumed that the drunker you are, the more honest you will be.

-Paying for sex isn't nearly as taboo in Korea as it is the west. A lot of married women turn a blind eye to their husband's actions. Sex outside of marriage, whether though an affair or with prostitutes, is almost considered to be inevitable, if not normal. In Korea, however, people don't talk about sex. Talking about it is the taboo.

-Koreans run the gamut and are just like everyone else in the world. Some are crazy and want to do meth and fuck and fuck and fuck. Others want to talk, end up cumming quickly, fall in love and feel ashamed. Some dudes just want to nut in something warm, wet, and wiggly. Other guys get pressured by friends to go to a brothel that they wouldn't otherwise visit alone.

If possible can you explain the situation for Thai girls working at massage shops as opposed to the underground situation you covered.

From what little I know it seems they work long hours, are constantly on call and are not legally allowed to work in Korea.

What services are on offer at these massage shops, prices? And how much can the girls make. I imagine as everywhere it depends a lot on the individual girl but on average.

My Thanks and appreciation.

The hotel room safe is to stash your stuff so your ladies can't take your cash.

A room safe cannot keep your stuff safe from cat burglers, secret agents, or unscrupulous maids.

Next topic, please.

Apologizes.

It was simply that Bonjovi3 seems to know the score on Korea which as happened he posted about on the Pattaya tread.

If Bon Jovi doesn't reply I will for sure go looksee on the Korea forum.

Cheers.

We're all just trying to get some poke in before the big sleep- and Koreans share this essential human condition. I will let them burn their money in the GoGo's and stick to Soi 6, GC'S, TF, and Pothole and hope that at least for a little bit Pattaya will not go the way of Angeles City.

The rising supremacy of the K-Monger notwithstanding, my suspicion is the up and coming monger with the most ability to disrupt the balance is probably the Indian man. It may not seem like it now- but the Indian economy-fueled by their positive demographics-has a much brighter future than China, and if even only 10% more are brought into the middle class that translates to 140 million people (roughly half the USA).

If someone really wanted your safe it really isn't difficult to get it. Here is my hotel safe. Even if they couldn't open it there these things are light and small enough to throw in a large suitcase and roll it out of the hotel.

I will give you guys some advice if this is your final day in town and you have to leave the hotel early in the morning. Take your shit out of your safe the night before and throw everything in your locked suitcase. My safe wouldn't open when I returned to my hotel at 3 am. I called down to the front desk to have someone open my safe. They said only the hotel manager has the key and he doesn't start work until 10 am. I told them I needed the safe open now cause I needed to leave for the airport at 7 am. I finally convinced them to call a locksmith to pry the safe from the cabinet so he could press some button in the back of the safe to open it without a key. 2-3 hours later I got my safe open. Would have missed my flight if I didn't try opening my safe well before checking out. The photo is the aftermath.

No hotel or employees shall be named to protect the innocent.
