The current curfew is 10:00 pm. The girls in Jaco are hardened professionals; so not like Colombia at all.
A group of us got a nice place with a pool and stuff. What would rates be to pick up some talent at cocal and stay and party for 4-5 hours?

You have to ask the girl, or make an offer. And negotiate from there. Some will ask 2 or 3 hundred US per hour, others may start lower. And there are some that might be in the 80 dollar range for an hour meetup. After negotiation.
Thanks. Seems the 350 for 6-8 hours deal in Colombia is not going to be the same LOL. L anyone know anything about party favors there? Easily accessible? Quality? Do they have 2 c?
Are there late night dining options after curfew? Or should we just stock up on supplies? Not sure what the severity of the curfew is. Counting down the hours now! The plan is to head to cocal early and pick up some talent and bring the party back to our place.

Others were lighter from what you find in Colombia. Paid $80 for Tusi and $50 for Coke. Girls were anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on how well you negotiate.
I'm planning a visit in a few weeks and can't afford to get stuck in CR. Does anyone know if you can get COVID-19 tested in Jaco on a Friday and get the results by the next day or sooner? Info will be much appreciated!

Live 4 69.
When I was at the Cocal last August you could get your test in late morning and you had the results that afternoon. This was an antigen test. PCR probably takes a bit longer.
They came to the hotel. I don't remember the charge. It wasn't cheap though I didn't feel it was too expensive though given the convenience factor.
From what I understand you can also get a pretty quick test turnaround at the airport (SJO).
If testing positive and subsequently getting quarantined is going to screw up your life (work, family, etc.) you might want to reconsider going. Unlike in the Dominican Republic where you can just go to another lab and hope for a negative test, if you do test positive in CR they will notify the authorities and they will notify the authorities and keep a close eye on you and be sure you do quarantine. If you don't have insurance that specifically covers Covid quarantine and travel delay expense you are going to have to cover the quarantine lodging, your additional meals, any medical expense and any costs associated with changing your flights. Policies are pretty cheap and even though they are no longer required if you are vaccinated, you might want to consider getting one. Trawick International has some of the least expensive policies but you have to pay expenses up front and then file a claim for reimbursement. Be sure you get a policy that specifically covers Covid expense. Some don't.
Also you should check with you hotel and ask what accommodations they might be able to provide if you unfortunately do test positive. If they are fully booked, they might not be able to help you and you will have to find a place willing to take you.
Good luck.

Spent a night in Jaco during the summer. Didn't have the info in the last few posts. At 9 pm the Frog Pond at Cocal closed down and everyone got kicked out. I'd forgotten about it because I was sightseeing and people go to bed early. So I asked the girls how much (I did say $100 but almost no one except a slightly bigger girl would take that, but I wassn't in the mood to settle). Everyone wanted $200. Some really pretty ones, you can even find a 9 or 10. Eventually I paid $100 for a spinner with a pretty face but forgot to ask for longer stay. Was short on cash as well. Oh well, she was tight and I came way earlier than I normally do.
If you're not in bad shape you can easily get freebies traveling around CR, if you speak enough Spanish to travel solo. I took regional public buses almost everywhere.
Everyone is looking for reasonably priced girl friendly places in Jaco, all you have to do is search "Bachelor Pad Airbnb Jaco Costa Rica", and it will pull them up. "Bachelor Pad Airbnb Jaco Costa Rica" will get through all the usual filters. I almost paid through the nose for a hotel before I figured out this simple trick.
I just called the Cocal and the curfew is still at 9 pm sharp with no after hours party at the adjacent Monaco condo. Looks like we will not be going back soon until this changes. That curfew is just too early.
Hello Gentlemen,
I just confirmed the curfew at the Cocal bar and other nightlife is now at 10 pm. Also, the front door person told me that if numbers stay low they will be allowed to stay open until 11 pm starting in November. This is great news.

I am going in 2 weeks to CR for the first time. Kind of naive question: can / should I use $$ there or I have to change those to a local currency. Also, any helpful advice on what to do outside mongering in Jaco would be greatly appreciated.

Colones is the CR currency. 30000 colones is give or take $50 I believe at this time.
Go to beach, eat at good places, do a tour of the waterfall or even take a water taxi to Santa telesa / Montezuma.
Have fun.
