East China - Shanghai

188 rmb!! What kind of JS are you getting? I was paying a fair bit more once when I started mongering in Shanghai. I walked in a store front place near Chángshòyou Road with a bunch of women sitting around, just to check it out. I was grabbed by this 40 years old, plain looking, woman who practically forced herself onto me as I was trying to walk out. It was a forgettable Wham Bang, Thank you Ma'am short time (I was still trying to get out of there fast). I was behaving like a totally stupid mark from elsewhere though.

I am not sure if I will try again in 2033, but do you always have to do the group rub down thing? And were those 50 or more guys eventually going upstairs for their FS? If they were not going there just to bathe and have a legit rub down, the place sounds like a fast food version for tricks.

On my way back to Shanghai.

Have been staring at the four walls of my hotel room for the last few days after work.

Looking forward to some drinking and getting hammered with some people who speak some more English.

Took the elevator up and when the doors opened it was mostly darkened and appeared to be under renovation.

Clearly not in operation there, but I rode the elevator back down with a guy the workers had called over when I showed up. He showed me a card to what must be their other location (or somehow related) in Minhang. He said he was going over there and even offered me a ride. I didn't have time, but I believe that other location is the same one listed on SNG as New Jade Screen. (As a side note, in the future SNG may want to point out the distinction between these two locations and how they are actually related, since they presumably appear to be.).

Anyway, as noted above, it also wasn't made clear to me when the location I visited would re-open, if at all. But please keep us posted if anyone else learns more.

The one I walked off with was a no brainier and even had a nice butt, which is somewhat hard to find in Asia. I'd say she even seemed excited as she basically skipped while leading me to my room. There was no group rub down for me. I suppose I could've done that, but every girl I talked to offered the "full package (FS). " There were a bunch of the massage chairs around with guys getting legit rubdowns while chain smoking, but that's not what I was there for. As for the wash, I think people really do go in to get washed and scrubbed down. There was even a boy and his father there just for the wash, so I think the funny business upstairs is just an extra that some people take advantage of while many others just go for the wash and a hard rub scrub or legit massage from a male masseuse (in full view of everyone at the bath).

Was in Manhattan Sunday night with a few friends. Looked busy but full of only "Viets ".

A lot of them are not real pros and since its new to them actually seem to be having fun. Don't get me wrong, I doubt I am making their day but since they have not become jaded, they put in a decent effort.

If those of us fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to be spending Christmas and New Year in Shanghai, the number of punters go down dramatically and the ratio of WG to guys in Manhattan goes up to 5:1.

The article is in Chinese. The scam is the usual outlandish bill in a restaurant / bar. The scam was actually played on a local in Liuzhou. He hooked up with a woman through qq. She suggested a meeting after a few days of chatting and they met at a shopping mall. They met, strolled along and came upon a restaurant. She suggested going in, sit down and have some coffee. Coffee was served, and then another woman friend happened to walk in: a happy coincidence!! She sat down, the women suggested some red wine. They had a total of 2 carafe. The women excused themselves and left. The bill came to 30000 rmb. When he reported that to the police, another man came the station to report the same type of scam that happened to him at the same restaurant. So it is not just Shanghai, and it does not only involve foreigners.

I have traveled around this wonderful globe. The only place where scams seem to occur on a REGULAR basis. SCAMHAI. I'm pretty street smart but have to hand it to the scumbags of SCAMHAI. They got me and my friend more than once in a 1 week trip. Once at GUNPOINT!

If that's not bad enough the going rate for any kind of decent companyin the land of SCAMS is around $200 USD. Why even do it? Panama - $80 USD, Costa Rica - $80 USD, Tijuana $80 USD, Germany FKK $50 EUR, Philippines $45 USD, BKK $80 USD. What am I missing here? And BTW. The rates I posted are for HIGH-END ladies and not SG.

You tell me. Why Shanghai? To risky a proposition for me and I just returned 2 weeks ago.

Girls claim to be university students wanting to practice their English.

Certainly happens in many places around the world! Only extremely inexperienced travelers would claim that Shanghai is the capital of scam.

True, an all-niter with a hot, young thing at your Shanghai hotel will likely run you $250-300. In several Asian or Latin American destinations, you might get a similarly attractive girl for $150-200, even $80-100 in bargain basement Pattaya. However, Chinese girls will often be in better shape than Philippine or Thai equivalents, especially in terms of no-pregnancies / drug abuse / etc.

At a top Shanghai sauna, you can get a very hot girl for $120 and up. This actually compares well with Macao and KL, even with Thailand. You can get cheaper sauna / massage parlor experiences in BKK, but the girl will be older (and likely a mother). Shanghai's Viet bars are arguably better for Viet girls than anything in HCMC.

Without local language skills, Thailand / Philippines / Malaysia are easier to navigate than China. This factor alone prevents Shanghai from becoming a major monger destination.

As to your "scamhai" references, China is relatively crime-free country compared to other Asian venues (not to mention Latin America). Scams almost never happen in the legit massage parlors and saunas. Most SNL girls try to give money's worth, though there are unfortunate exceptions. If you avoid Shanghai touts, which you failed to do, you will generally have a trouble-free experience. Follow the touts and likelihood of getting ripped off is, unfortunately, quite high.
