This theft is common these days and have a heard a lot about it from fellow mongers. Best practice is too only carry cash and mobile, that's all. Keeping a wallet with all IDs and documents is very very risky these days. You never who has what intention and can use it against you. So, thumb rule is always carry only cash and that too make sure to keep an eye on the therapist all the time.
Cheers.
About a fortnight back, visited a spa in Koramangala. I am a regular there and massage never disappoints. The therapist was a Thai and used to communicate via a language translator app.
Took extras from her and handed over the agreed amount before the deed started and kept back wallet in the trousers. After the deed, she went in the shower to clean herself and I went on after her.
While I was in the shower, she had taken 2500 from my wallet and left the wallet back in the trousers. I had just taken cash out of the ATM before entering spa and knew exactly how much I had in my wallet.
After dressing up, I returned to the reception for green tea and owing to some strange hunch feeling, I checked my wallet there and realised the missing amount. Told the receptionist about the entire incident, though he was dismissive that their therapists don't behave that way. I asked to him confront her through the owner. They promised to check and get back but nothing positive.
She in her own admission said she was new to our country. I have read in Thai forums that theft happens in spa across Thailand and to be mindful of that.
Anyways, I want to give heads up to folks to be careful, where you keep the money and take only what is absolutely needed. Not to show the cash before the therapists. Even better thing to do is take the wallet with you to the washroom.
Better be laughed at than to be a loser!!
