As far as brothels in Jakarta go, I still think Kings Cross is the best place in the city for value for money with nice rooms, hot women, and pretty good service.

In almost all Thai venues, as a customer you can truly pick and choose at your pleasure, the world is your oyster. At Classic / Travel, you're only incidentally happen have some chance to choose (since the money is in your hand), but they'd much prefer you didn't.

In Thailand, sex workers in most venues have a choice of who they go with. Sure sometimes they may not like a customer much and still do it only for the money, but they could and do occasionally refuse. This holds even in low-end brothels for Thais or soapies, let alone the Farang bar / freelancer scene.

In Classic / Travel, I get a sense that the girls are not allowed to refuse at all, not even given an option to indicate pleasure or displeasure by smiling at you or looking away. The mama points with that laser, and they better jump up within 5 sec, or else. As a total newbie, I have no idea how things work behind the scenes, and won't rush into calling it sex slavery (they aren't in chains, and can technically go outside the venue outside working hours). However, it surely does not seem like proper choice either. In the best case scenario they have a binary choice -- either leave the job completely, or take the entire package. Those girls are mafia controlled sex slaves. However, you were going with girls in the mafia controlled brothels of North Jakarta. Try asking one of those brothel girls to go to Bali with you and see what happens. Even if you have had sex with that same girl 100 times in the past year and she really likes you and would love to go to Bali with you, she will not be able to. Unless you pay the mamasan something like 2 or 3 million rupiah per day to take her to Bali with you.

However, there is a drastic difference between those mafia controlled girls and the free lancers at BATS and CJS or even the girls at Hotel Melawai Maribaya massage. Those girls are free to do as they please, and they almost always provide excellent service. Ask one of those CJs or BATS girls to go to Bali with you and they will be packing their bags immediately, and most times dont even care if you give them any money. As long as you pay their airfare and expenses, and buy them a couple of things there, they are usually happy. Most western guys seem to prefer the free lancers or hitting the malls and internet for girls over the brothels. I know I do. Most Asian guys seem to prefer the brothels.

Anybody know if there is only 1 class of girls? Is there a model class which is more expensive?

Also, anybody know the LT rate for overnight? Most places charge 3-5 times the ST rate depending on time, just want to confirm if anyone knows.

To add to Smoothys comments on the penjay bars. They are also far easier to sit and have a beer and a smoke in, with the music not as loud and as offensive as Classic. Plus the madams are alot more relaxed, not as pushy as Classic hotel. Makes for a better experience IMHO.

" Her price might have been marginally more expensive than the "contract girls," but the difference would have been rather inconsequential, e.g. , 50,000 rupiah at the most.

Frankly, the freelancer vs. Contract girl distinction is not at all transparent at bars such as these, and I sometimes wonder whether they throw around the term "freelancer" when they just want to charge a bit more. But my best sense of things is they are indeed freelancers in the sense they are not bound by a relatively long-time (meaning many months at least) contract.

I have also run across this distinction at the Penjay bars, but only remember one instance at LABar where they tried to charge me a bit more owing to the freelancer label. I had previously been with the same girl at the lower price, so I'm not sure what was up (given I had recently been with her at the lower price, I declined the session not wanting to encourage price creep).

But the short answer is there is no significantly more expensive model class at BM unless things have changed recently, which I doubt.

By 8 pm, those places are also loud as hell with house music and packed with mostly drunken uneducated locals at night. I find those type of places miserable at night and avoid them. I normally don't go to the brothels up north at night, but if I do go to one at night, it will be either Malioboro or Kings Cross. The customers at those places are much higher class and those places are not as loud.

And Malioboro early to mid-evening although I'm not a regular there. Haven't tried Kings Cross but based on what I have been reading here recently may give it a try during my next trip.

I been to Bintang a few time this place is going down hill I did pick a girl last yr is now 350 k in house only w room upstair girl is average very little english, this place cater mostly to local and dark and smokey you should go to classic and hotel travel near by for the same cost room is much better there, if you want LT go to pick up at disco and mall for freelance if you want model class looking at 2 Mil and up.

Thanks for your report, it's made me reconsider my plans for a pre-Christmas trip, I was looking at spending a week or more in Jakarta in mid December.

Something I have to ask, how long long were you there? You talked about Travel and Classic but it looked as if you were there only three days or so. I wonder if you had a bad experience and also if you could have done better in some other location?

I had a really great time in Jakarta while on my 2015 Spring Asian Trip. If I were to compare Jakarta to Bangkok based solely on the quality of the girls I found there, I would have to say Jakarta wins 8 to 6. Yes, its amazing, but true! Jakarta girls are arguably the most sexy, best looking, most voluptuous, and passionate girls in all of southern Asia. Of course I went to the top places and spent beaucoup Rupiah.

Also let it be said, I am still a newbie when it comes to Jakarta. There are still a lot of places I want to try out. A friend and fellow punter, with a lot more experience in Jakarta than I, gave me a short list of "must go to" places before I left on my trip. I intended to visit them all, but unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I never got around to most of them. At my pace it may take me 10 years to hit all the places on his short list, but, that's ok with me. I am in no hurry.

Anyway, at the top of the list is Malioboro and Malio Club, of course. I already knew this was a great venue from my 2014 trip. So I started out in Malioboro on my 1st night in town where I met 3 very sexy young dancers. I found out on my 2nd night there that the 3 girls were best friends with Auilia, one of the Malioboro dancers I shagged in 2014. Cut to the chase; I could not tear myself away from all 4 of them. 555. Below are a few pics of Ki KI, Chi Chi, and Aulia. I ended up shagging all 3 girlfriends and Aulia on successive nights. Malioboro brothel girls, of which there are scores and scores are 800,000 rp and 1,200,000 rp. The dancers (my girls) are around 2,000,000 rp. I forget how much the import girls are, but I do recall that my Vietnamese girl was significantly less than 2 mil however.

And I haven't yet mentioned Marsya, my CJ's girl, that I met on my 3rd to last night of the entire trip before heading home. It was Wednesday night, ladies night at CJ's and the place was packed with quality talent. I believe that the Vietnamese girls are either 1. 8 million or 2. 2 million now (at least it was the last time I took one, as well as the other imports). Although someone told me they heard the price was 2.8 for some of the girls there now, so I'm not certain if it has increased. The dancers used to only be 1. 2 million, but I haven't taken on in over 5 years, so I'd guess 2 million is about right. I also like the lap dances with the girls, and normally get my fair share while I am there. At 50,000 a dance and the girls only spending a minute or two with you before asking for another 50,000, that can add up as well. If you don't mind spending 300 usd for the evening, Malioboro is a very good choice. Alexis is a bit nicer, but then you are talking closer to 500 usd by the time you leave. So I think Alexis is a bit too expensive. I also think that Alexis is more stale than Malioboro since I like watching the sexy dancers at Malio. The only reason I prefer Kings Cross over Malioboro is that it's cheaper. If they were the same price, Malioboro is better than KC.

However, if you have the impression that the girls in Malioboro are any hotter than the girls in Bangkok for the same price, I'm not sure that's accurate. In Bangkok, I actually prefer more down market than Malioboro because I think the quality and comfort of the downmarket places in Bangkok is better than in Jakarta. However, I've had some Thai guys from the office take me to some places in Bangkok where the girls are absolutely stunning. Supposedly the girls are "models" in sexy magazines like penthouse or something. They are very very nice, but they cost around 5 to 8,000 baht. I agree that those places in Bangkok with the stunners are not as fun as Malioboro though. Malioboro has similar ambience of Soi Cowboy dancers in the dancing area, along with nice rooms upstairs. Those nicer places in Bangkok, the girls just sit there in nice dresses, there are no sexy dancers. And there are some stunners in Malioboro and Alexis as well.

In Jakarta, if I had my choice of any of them for the same price, I would choose the Vietnamese chicks at Alexis. But then again, that ends up being 500 usd by the time I pay for the girl, drinks, tax and tip.

I was there for about 2 weeks, but you're right, was only mongering for 3 days or so.

Meeting regular girls online is a worthwhile pursuit in Jakarta, white people are in high demand. I dabbled a bit with that, though I'm no pickup artist. During my brief visit, I've seen a few rather decrepit looking (although well dressed) white gentlemen with knockout (and classy!) girls, the beautiful disparity I did not see in Bangkok in the last 5 years or longer.

If you can pass for under 45 or so, you'll be amazed by the opportunities. However, it does take a fair bit of legwork (pipelining before the trip), some minimal game, and a fair bit of time / patience. Not every date pans out, and it could easily take 2-3 days before scoring. Not sure whether discussing online dating is out of scope for this forum.

Jakarta is well worth a visit, though you might want to keep your plans flexible.

Note that December is rainy season, there could be flooding making the already awful traffic even less bearable.

The odds of success in Jakarta are much better than Thailand, and miles ahead of the States.

If you are older guy, you may have better luck targeting milfs at malls, coffee shops, markets, food stalls etc. I much prefer this to online as you get to "see the goods" in person before making an approach. Language has never been an issue if the girl is friendly and open, and makes it more fun at time. Thank goodness for Google translate.

Plenty of pro / semi-pro / horny girls who appreciate some taxi fare to be had on the dating sites. If I am going out drinking with mates I will go to the various places talked about here, but that is more of a social outing than a shag fest. Of course shagging happens, but the main event is socializing. If I am on my own in a hotel and have to work in the morning I just have the girl come to my hotel. If a girl agrees to come to your hotel, you are going to shag her.

Sort out the money issue up front before she gets there so there is no confusion, and even if she says she is not like that and does not want money, if she incurred cost (taxi / train) I make sure I give her some. The last time I shagged a 'good girl' who did not want any money, she actually did want / need it but was too shy to tell me, so I don't make that mistake any more.
