I know guys that have stayed there and had the older air systems that didn't work well and there was not much of a breeze even for the ones with a balcony. In addition, the rooms were designed with sensors to cut off the electric when you leave so when you come back to the room it can be hot as hell. Like I said, it depends on which room you stay in, but these are some of the complaints I've heard about that spot.
As far as there being no difference between what you get for 1, 000 vs 1, 500 pesos, that is what I thought you were going to say. People that know all the BS games about calling the politur or they need money for their school, kids or cousin that lost a leg last week on a motoconcho, you realize there is no reason to pay more than you have to. Thanks for the feedback.
Should I go to Costa rica or back to good old Sosua? I've never been to CR but the women are pretty hot and I here it pretty cheap.
What are the pro's and con?

I would clean the air filter my first day and it was always filthy dirty (cleaned it in the bat tub).
I have been in a few large hotels in DR where the central air was terrible. Oftentimes, smaller hotels where each room has its own air conditioner work best.
Many hotels have a small box on the wall, wherein you put your plastic room key card, to get the electricity to turn on in the room (and the air conditioning). You can insert another plastic card or sometimes a piece of cardboard to keep the A / C on, without the room key inserted.
Furniture has not changed at the Sosua bay hotel from when I stayed there 10 years ago.

Murder-suicide in a Sosua hotel.
Santo Domingo- Three foreigners, including 10 year old girl, were found dead in Sosua, northern Puerto Plata province, in what Police say was a murder-suicide.
The bodies of the victims were found in the residencial Casa Linda, in Sosua, where reportedly the German man was found hanging, and the Venezuelan woman and her daughter had sings of strangulation.
The authorities said it was a murder suicide, but there's been no official statement.
The German reportedly also shot his wife several times, and then his daughter, a dog and a cat.

I was walking around today, and I got many places near the New Garden Hotel going towards the smaller beach asking. If I want a massage. Do these places offer full service? I don't care so much for what would probably be a lousy massage or.
A HJ.

A HJ.
I can think of 8 massage places round that area where you can also get sex of various types. It is all negotiable. If you want a decent massage, but not sex the place opposite the banco popular close to the Internet cafe may be the one to go to if Yosmari, tallish girl with glasses is still there. She speaks a bit of English, very nice girl, but not for sex. Belki's salon is probably the best of the bunch for massage, sex, haircuts, whatever you want, they can do it. The massage place down the hill closest to the beach has some younger women who like to do full service, but not highly recommended by me. The one on the other side of the road from Yosmari's has a Haitian girl called Julietta who is best avoided. There is another with Haitians going towards Casa Marina, which may be OK. Another one opposite Bailey's with Haitians, best to give it a miss. Another couple at the bottom of the hill down by the back entrance of Casa Marina are nothing special either.
Really, like I always say, it is not the quality of the service, but the quality of the relationship between you and the chica that will distinguish a worthwhile experience from a rip-off. I actually had several superb experiences a few weeks ago in one of those facilities, but if I direct you to the same girl, there is absolutely no guarantee you will even like her. It is all trial and error.
Since you surely have plenty of time on your hands, walk around and interview all the contenders, and then do the same thing again the next day and see if you think you might hit it off with any of them.

What would be a fair price for I'm sure is a short massage and full service? There is a place very close to the New Garden, probably the closest place when walking towards the Marina, they had maybe 6 girls sitting outside. One of the girls looked to be about 19 or 20, light skinned and nice looking. I'll talk to them tomorrow.
I think I'll try to find the Belki's Salon too.
I can understand the cat, but why shoot the dog?
Haha. I can understand the wife and cat, but why the daughter and yourself? LOL
Haha. I can understand the wife and cat, but why the daughter and yourself? LOL
Poor guy probably found out that she was cheating or planing to leave him after investing so much time and money. In regards to the dog, have you seen the stray dogs in DR? That was probably a mercy killing, leaving a beloved westernized house dog on the Sosua streets would have been equally cruel.
I was in SD last week and as I turned the corner, I surprised a stray dog. The poor thing was more scared of me than I of him. Dominican stray dogs are probably abused since birth and have lifelong fear of humans.

I stopped staying there when it became "the place to be" for the wife beater wearing types. I'm surprised they called it a hotel, but maybe that's how its perceived now. Sorry to hear about this sad event; there have been so many in Sosua this year.
I can understand the cat, but why shoot the dog?
El Perro why El Gato, series on HBO and HBOgo (to view online), to learn Spanish, animated. Via Lactea (milky way), I learned that today watching the show.
