I assumed that was the tourist surcharge with cartagena being more of a leisure destination for both domenstic and international travellers, but may have been just my perception. Anyone else who knows both destinations care to weigh in?

Sometimes up to 200 k but not more. The price differential between Medellin and Cartagena is that the brothels in Cartagena charge more. They're out in some street inside of Cartagena I never really went to much. A chica told me they frequently get sailors there that are stopping at the port.

No comment on my side on the lodgings as they vary a lot. Your Spanish has nothing to do with prevailing rates.

I am not giving the advice to anyone, just post my experience. The gentleman asked for a 'solid rate' during New Years Eve. Can he he get a companionship at 150 K? Probably. Will it be the 'solid rate' during the holidays to my experience and taste? No, he wouldn't. With COVID + this Venezuelan invasion, prices are definitely 40,000 (even lower) to a maxi 90 K.

I have never visited the club myself.

Example of a low rate, this year, during the day time, inside a brothel in other large city in Colombia, not in Cartagena: 40 K for 20 minutes, room included. The girl was great, AfroColombian, super cute with perky tits and young. However, her rules were no photos and covered BJ. I passed on her, regretted a bit later, but she didn't want to do what I expected, and the tips for photos offer was also refused. 30 minutes were 60 K and 1 hour - 80 K.

The brothel was 100% local in dodgy area, beers - 5 K for a domestic can, and locals expect sometimes 3. 5 K for a domestic beer.
