I agree, herpes is more of a concern with my lifestyle. However genital warts also prevalent. they say 3 hours, but actually it is only 1 hour before they close out their manifest. I usually arrive an hour and a half before the flight, just to be safe.

Zidaho I find touts selling sandals and massage and other goods extremely annoying. They don't just leave you alone, especially when you are on the beach. Women will try to rub lotion onto your arm when you tell them to fuck off and after they repeat "demostracion" a 100 times you bark at them eventually she will leave and you will find yoursefl approached by another one. They flow continously. Some sell shrimp with lime - they taste pretty good but expensive. We could not find cheap shrimp in CTG, strange considering there is a big shrimp farm and a packaging facility in the city. Large shrimp much cheaper in chinatowns in US. On the positive note, there is a great steak place in Laguito, very inexpensive. I forget the name now.

Usually an hour and a half is plenty. However, there are exceptions.

Brainstorming here now:
Temporary fence, surround myself with chairs, body guard, surround myself with beautiful Colombianas who know karate, dig a moat around my chair, threaten them with pepper spray, hire Tony or Alex to talk them death, post a sign that says NO TOUTS, set up my own Tout Scam, try to sell them Amway, require them to fill out a two page form before I consider buying their merchandise, . . . geezz there has to be something that could help keep these touts away.

How about arming a couple of kids (paying them 5,000 pesos each) with those sound blaster cylinders and paying them to guard me while I relax with plugs/or ear buds in. When the Touts approach the kids warn them to stay back, and if the warning is not heeded they blast them with the sound blaster until they leave. That might be kind of entertaining!

Don't have to get so complicated ... just IGNORE them and they'll leave ya alone.

If you decide to buy some crap from them ... always pay with exact change ... they hand out out fake money like it's monopoly money ... speaking from experience.

It's all available in CTG. You can get as many Colombianos as you want to nail her while you watch. If she's hot enough, I'm sure you could pedal her at LDV and make a few pesos. Might even take a crack myself(I leave for a couple of weeks in the States on Dec. 14). And there is no shortage of chicas to join in.

Z - you just go where the touts aren't(e.g. the beach in Castillo Grande, Isla Tierra Bomba, any barrio outside of the tourist zone).

I have been a regular traveler to Colombia for over 10 years – I spend more time in Colombia than almost anywhere else although I did get into the Rio scene in the past few years. I know the places in Bogota very well, Cartagena very well, Cali a little less well, and Medellin and San Andres not at all.

Are you sure you don’t want to consider a stop in Bogota while you’re in Colombia? Cartagena is interesting, but I think Bogota has it beat – although I'm sure you’ll hear differing opinions from the people here. I was just in Cartagena and Bogota the past few weeks – in Cartagena I hit the LDV, Tripleterra, Tu Candela, Club Pleyboy, and Club Venus. I had a limited time in Bogota and only was able to go to the newly redesigned Casanova. The Casanova was the best single night selection I have ever seen at any time in Colombia – at 11pm the ratio had to be about 15 chicas per every guy, and about 13 of each set of 15 were too gorgeous for words. I was sitting there paralyzed until I could make a decision. I can’t say if its like that every night of the week, but last week it was truly the best eye-candy store I have ever been to. As a contrast, I also went next door to the Exstasis Club which sucked big time, so consider that as well.

In Cartagena, the LDV was pretty good and the Tripleterra was a bit better on the nights I was there. The rest of the places were a waste of time, especially Club Venus which wins my Skanky Club of the Year Award. If I can offer up here my analysis of why I think Bogota is not necessarily better than Cartagena but at least worth a night or two on your itinerary –

IMHO - and others may disagree – the best looking women in Colombia are calenas (from Cali) and paisas (from Medellin and the surrounding areas), followed closely by cachacas (from Bogota) and santanderianas (mostly from Bucaramanga). The costenas (from the Caribbean coast) just don’t do it for me in general. So in Cartagena, you get a lot of costenas working the clubs, but you also get a variety of women from other parts of the country. Many of them are actually tourists who are trying to pay for their vacation in Cartagena with a little night work.

By contrast, in the Bogota clubs, you get the beautiful cachacas but also get a good variety of calenas and paisas there too. I swear to you that my eyes were just popping out of my head in Casanovas, which is a place I generally stay out of but figured I’d go since it had been a while since the last time I was there. Also, Lido’s in Bogota, although on the expensive side, gets some beautiful chicas working there. La Mansion is another house, even more expensive but very exclusive. Abejitas massage place is a good place to stop in for an afternoon delight with some very nice looking masajistas working there. And the outcall services in Bogota are much much better than Cartagena – there are a bunch of services to call in Bogota – I have tried several of them and can recommend some that are better than others – while as far as I can tell, there is one in Cartagena with very limited selection.

Hope this helps you plan your trip. I appreciated your advice when I met you in Rio so I am hoping I can repay the favor a little.
