How can one make a comparative judgement decision unless you know what you are buying (is the drink diluted) , that is what most people do whether it is food, ladies or service it is all a judgement call. The more information you have, the more informed is the decision.

But if I was a lady drink buying type of guy then I would go your route and arrange for the girl to sit 15 minutes for 50 baht if I wanted company instead of paying for fake drinks. 15 minutes is 15 minutes, but a lady drink, whatever the contents, can disappear in the blink of an eye after which you will be solicited to buy more.

I've heard of negotiating for long time and short time when bar fining girls for takeout, but I've never heard of negotiating for 15 minutes of a girl's time in the bar to sit with you. Sometimes just one lady drink is good for an hour or more. It just depends on whether there is good chemistry and sanook.
I think a girl might be put off by a customer negotiating for 15 minutes of drink time, but if it works, go for it. I'll just take my chances. If she gulps it down and runs, that's the last lady drink she'll get from me. If she sticks around and pays attention to me, she just might get barfined.
Really, the only good reason to buy a lady drink for a girl is if you are interested in bar fining her and want to get acquainted before closing the deal, or if you have a favorite girl who's lots of fun it's worth a few lady drinks even if you don't bar fine her.
Lady drinks are the main source of profit for go-go bars; far more for the bar than bar fines or customer drinks. They profit nicely because the lady drinks are cheap for the bar and expensive for the customer. If it weren't' for lady drinks, they couldn't stay in business and we'd be losing out. I don't mind buying a few if I really like the girl and she likes me.

Also, if a guy can't afford a lady drink then there's no reason to go to a gogo anyways. The pussy in the gogos, especially these days, is far more expensive than on the street. So if a guy is strapped, then what's he doing in the gogo anyways?
Gogos are designed to extract as much money out of punters as possible.

For my money the go-go bars are the best and most economical option for the kind of entertainment I like. You can't beat the happy hour prices from 8-9:30 or 10pm. I can arrive at a bar at opening time and enjoy two hours of lovely naked girls showing off their goods and go home having spent only 200 baht.
If I want to splurge a bit I can buy lady drinks and have a young beauty sitting on my lap for awhile which is well worth the price of a lady drink. Yes, bar fining and taking them for sex is relatively expensive compared to other options, but it's hard to find better looking girls on beach road or the beer bars.
I have my regulars servicing me in the daytime, some of whom are go-go girls, for a fraction of the cost they normally command at work, so I feel no need to buy lady drinks or bar fine girls in the bar unless I find a new one to my liking. It's a great way to find quality regulars.

In Bangkok my best experiences were with girls I took from an agogo. There are so many variables to consider. Even if you take the same girl twice from the same location, nothing guarantees the same performance. Maybe her favourite waterbuffalo just got ill now and she needs extra money to get "into the mood" this time.
You guys are making this discussion more painful than it needs to be. The gogos in Pattaya have some of the finest women in SEA dancing (IMHO) , even though most of them can't dance worth a shit. I love watching the girls at Happy, Baccara, and many of the other clubs. Do I barfine them, no, but I love watching them. But when it comes to places that I know the Mamasans, such as X-Zone, Babydolls, and Champions, it is a different story. The girls know that I know their employer and do their best to impress the Mamasans, through my reporting back to them. And yes, I can be just as happy playing with a girl from one of the discos, the Coconut Bar, the outdoor bars, or Soi 6 as well. Damn, Pattaya has so many options, that is what makes it one of the best mongering places in the world. But if you disagree, I'm open to learn about better places; so please chime in.

I don't waste the money and spend wisely, but I personally don't care about a few bucks as some do. If one spends a few hundreds or more to come and stay, I think it is non sense to worry for differences that back home don't even pay for a coke. The rate is the rate, the tip is the reward for the performance. So I keep the rate at its due level, leaving the tip (maybe generous) as an incentive. At the end the girl might get more than usual, as a whole, but she knows part of it is not to be taken for granted.
The debate on LD was merely social talks than discussing how many proof of alcohol is in the glass. I am the first to offer a LD as I know I reward her for her time. And I know the price of the LD has not much to do with the content. I can't expect any one to drink 10 times a night of whatever drink, probably even bottles of water, every night as part of the job. They somehow have to, so let's them have a mild and harmless drink that bring some money in their pockets.

They somehow have to, so let's them have a mild and harmless drink that bring some money in their pockets.[/QUOTE]Sorry can't agree I used to frequent the Cowboy bar at junction soi yamato and 2nd road, the girls there where pleasent attentive as any where else, had the cheapest beer for a beer bar but there was no premium on getting a drink for the ladies (17 girls some times) consequently, if you got asked for a drink it was cause the girl wanted a drink, I used to run a open tab for the girls if they wanted a drink they just put the chit in my bin never got taken advantage of.

I've done this probably half a dozen times over the years and there's never been a problem. And having the girl glare at you as you walk out is a free bonus.
