Ticketed!
I'll be in the area Dec 6th. 11th. I'm renting some wheels this time and I'm going to venture out some and hopefully toss in a few fun safe adventures. Of course Sosua will get a look, but I want to see the landscape at a slow pace.
I plan to go to BB's on Saturday for the swimsuit contest. I've never visited the place before and I'm curious of the layout and chicas. I really can't see me lodging there. I like to hunt a little. To each his own.
I'm starting to get a little excited and happy for the brief escape. Once again it's on!

I've gone to the festival the last 3 years and its always a good time, some non-pro and semi-pro action available if you have some game. And if you're there during this time its a good excuse to get out and see Cabarete and enjoy more of the DR than just Sosua. Although I think this year is the first time Sosua has been involved in the Jazz Festival.

I have always rented a car and it gives freedom to go wherever you want and get non-pro action. I have picked up girls on the mountains road as well going from Sosua to Santiago maybe they are semi-pros. Once you get a keeper you can travel with her all over. Going to bikini contest at blackbeards is good. But it is just girls dancing around with resident drunk patrons making noise. I did not find it any interesting as I was not the least interested in brothel atmosphere. Even if I want to pick up a seasoned pro I want to do it at the bars and discoes. I have picked up semi pros and non pros (atleast that is what they said) and having a car gives me the freedom. Taking trips with a favourite is a plus.

Chicas have shown me new places, while driving with me (beaches, bars etc).
Just get the third party insurance (glass and tire insurance cam be good to have also) and try to be patient with DR law enforcement who have nothing better to do, than waste the time of law abiding tourists driving rental cars.
Burn CDs to play on the rental car's CD player. Polarized sunglasses to see better while driving in the sun.
I read the tolls to travel on some roads to Samana are expensive.
"Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic. Various social and business groups in Las Terrenas, northeastern Samana province, Wednesday rejected the new toll in the recently inaugurated Tourist Boulevard of the Atlantic, of 450 pesos for light vehicles. 920 pesos for midsize buses. 1,200 pesos for large buses and twin axel trucks and 1, 700 for trucks with more than two axels. They said the cheapest roundtrip on the 24 kilometer span will be 900 pesos, and 3, 400 pesos the most expensive. With the new toll, normal vehicles will have to pay as much as 3, 500 pesos roundtrip to visit Las Terrenas' new seaside road, including the 124 kilometer span of the Samana-Santo Domingo highway." Jao,
Now I'm really excited about renting a car! LOL.
Originally, I was renting a car to drive solo between Cabarete and Puerto Plata and scope out the landscape and maybe find some off the beaten path experiences, but now I'm thinking about hooking up with a Chica to be my daytime guide.
My Spanish is improving, but far from the point where I can really put my mack down or communicate effortlessly. I figure having a Chica as a guide would be helpful as a translator and she might be able to show me sights that I would have missed.
It would be nice to find a somewhat secluded beach and make the day of it. Personality / attitude is most important because having sex with the Chica is not paramount. Unless the attraction is that strong.
Being close to Christmas, I also plan on hitting up that Walmart type store and buy some small gifts to pass out in one of the barrio's to the children. I won't miss that couple hundred plus a genuine smile of appreciation from a kid is priceless!
With all that said, of course I'm coming to fuck the shit out of some fine young pussy, but I want to use my daytime to give me more insight into Dominican life / landscape. I got a small taste my last trip and now I hunger for more.
Now I'm really excited about renting a car!
Make sure your insurance includes access to the Casa del Conductor (most don't). This means if you are involved in an accident you will be taken to a sort of hotel with basic comforts instead of being slung in jail until is it sorted out (which could take days or weeks). Even if you are totally blameless you will probably be willing to pay big bucks to get of of jail before something nasty happens to you or you catch something which will mess up your holiday or much more of your life.
I always recommend guys who don't speak good Spanish and haven't got influential contacts or an honest lawyer there not To rent cars but if you insist on going ahead at least follow the above advice.

Discount codes that work in DR will say good for Latin America (the one free day code on BJs, usually saves me about $50US). On the Alamo site you can choose third party liability (if there is an accident with injuries) for about $8US per day. Tire and Glass coverage you can choose for about $3US per day. Collision / Damage loss waiver insurance I decline, I pay for the rental using a Mastercard credit card and they provide coverage up to $50, 000US, if there is a total loss of the vehicle. The third party liability insurance provided by alamo appears to include casa de conductors coverage (I have been told several times by workers at Alamo, that with that insurance I would not be put into a jail following an accident).
Alamo has an office at the Puerto Plata Airport and I believe another office at Ocean World or close to Ocean World, Cofresi, Puerto Plata.
Driving between Sosua and Puerto Plata, years ago at night, one time a horse was standing in the middle of road. Same thing happened on the new highway to samana, horse on the road one night.

Charles is passing on good advice about insurance for your car rental. I have rented 10+ times but did not start doing that until I had 4-5 trips under my belt as driving on the North Coast is an experience.
Gifts for the holidays. I used to spend a lot of money on various gifts and bring all kinds of stuff. Recently I brought less stuff with me from the states. When I arrive I have bought cell cards for min. Right off the street in 100 peso incriments and given them out as gifts. They are sold everywhere. Saves on the luggage and the girls are always using their phone and running out of min.
Other gifts that were big hits:
1. Panties from Victoria Secret. Go to their web site and look for closeouts. You can find some amazing deals. I bought various sizes and styles for $3. 00 each.
2. Bath and Body Works. If you can find one in your area (also online) have amazing lip gloss. The girls love them. You can also find a variety of lotions etc.
3. Perfume. This time of year you can buy some gifts sets that are nice and smaller so they are not a expensive. More like sample sizes.
4. Blow pops / Gum. It is hard to find to many women in the DR that do not have one or more children. These are a big hit.
In the room I have found it very nice to give them a plastic shower cap. The girls hate to get their hair wet.
The cost is $1. 00 each if you look at Walmart.
Just some ideas.
