I'm attaching a quote from a report several weeks ago. I copied it for reference because I was considering staying there. But this response from the hotel manager helped me decide not to stay there.

I am looking for a NEW hotel near any BTS or MRT station (the central location is not a prerequisite) with high availability any time (I want to check in early in the morning without reservation).

Desired rate: about 1500B/per night(double occupancy).

Can you suggest any?

did anybody try the Grand Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok (previously Sofitel), located at soi 6, and could tell about his experience.
Looks like quite a nice place with good offers.

I'll stay next June for just one night in Bangkok (first time in thailand) at Shangri La before visiting north of the country.
What would be the easiest solution not to spend the night alone knowing that I don't want to choose from an escort agency and that I don't like them too young (I prefer 35+) ?
Any disco in the Shangri La or any pick up place not too far ?

Maybe instead of disco you could concider a free lancer bar. There must be plenty but I only know one:

My proposal is far but easy for you to get to. From wikimapia in my previous post :) I can see that Shangri La is close to Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain station. You then would have to change the train track in Siam BTS station going to On Nut and leave in Nana BTS. Then walk to Beer Garden on Soi 7.

Has anyone stayed at Darwin Nana hotel on Soi 4?

Patpong just (5 minute may be 10 with taxi) go to my bar sol and then pick up at the corner there. Open bier garden live music. In one hour all done.

You may forget the best value for money is the pb hotel sukhumvit soi 3 its the famous short time hotel but upstair they have realy nice room better then nana and overs. Breakfast room little old fashion but ok and its only 800 baht. But there is no reservation website just go there or send email or fax or just go they have always room.
