Mick O'Licker from County Limerick
Mick Licker,
What the hell ... me, flirting with other girls? I never ever did something like that ... :)
[Damned, man, this is private talking, PLEASE, think about my dick, knifes, sliced to pieces, the ducks ... PLEASE]
Giotto
I met a man with several wives,
He told the forum it can change our lives,
"Pieces of dick" begged the ducks,
"Yes, Dicks in pieces" gleamed the knives,
"Fucks, Ducks, Dicks and Knives",
The haunted dreams of a man with how many wives???
My Livingstones Report, Sep 07
Livingstones Lodge, Sept '07
A boutique hotel 'resort' tucked away behind Soi33, no more than a 10 minute stroll or (max) 50Baht taxi ride from all the action you could want. Marvellous rooms (better beds & bathrooms than some 5-star hotels I've been to, a very clean & simple aesthetic, and some really nice touches). And it feels classy but not stuffy - it's quiet, with lots of extremely polite & friendly staff. The pool looks inviting, but it's only about 12 inches from the bar/restaurant tables and I'm not sure how I feel about being probably the only swimmer; floating about like an albino hippopotamus while the attentive staff keep an eye on me, or while other guests are trying to enjoy a bite to eat. On that note, the food is excellent; I try to 'go native' & eat Thai food as much as possible anyway, but the chef really knows his way around eggs & bacon too. Several times I was simply too lazy to try and find another restaurant nearly as good, and ate at the hotel instead.
The Sports Bar.
This is where you'll be treated like a King every night. Livingstones has a roster of maybe 15-20 girls (probably more), with something for everyone. Entering the bar on my first night here, it was a little bewildering to walk into all of them greeting me at the door; but then you are shown to a table and can have as quiet & relaxing a time as you like. I get rather bored of hearing 60's/70's ballads everywhere I go in Thailand but the bar music varies a lot which is great. Giotto even had a brief Mendelsson interlude one night, followed by 'Ave Maria', which I also thoroughly enjoyed - although we were in a minority of two! Coming into the bar, I noticed that one or two girls automatically come over to meet you, and to be honest I don't know if I like this or not. As a shy/polite sort I was quite happy to get to know the girl who had 'chosen' me, but after a few days at the hotel (having finally had a chance to have a good look around & meet some of the other girls) I did find I'd fallen into the inevitable trap of wanting to barfine other girls but not wanting to hurt #1's feelings. Fortunately the obvious signs of what was going on attracted the Mrs.Giotto / Mamasan's attention, and she was swift & effective in smoothing out the situation - Giotto is not only an extremely knowledgeable & helpful host, he is also a very lucky man. Not all of the bar girls are 'bar fineable' (a couple are Mamasans and/or normal staff) and I wish I'd known beforehand; tacitly announcing to the prettiest girl in the room that you'd like to take her to bed - and getting turned down - does make you feel a bit embarrassed. In the end I bar fined 3 Livingstones girls in the week I was there and had a fantastic time with every one. They are all passable/good at pool too, which I really enjoy. I made a bit of an effort to get out to other (cheaper) bars/girls/parlours but as with the food, when it's this good quality & right on your doorstep you really have to justify going anywhere else.
I had such a good time that after a quick look at Pattaya/Jomtien I'm back at Livingstones for another week, which is really the best recommendation I can give. It's not the cheapest option, but I'll take steak over hamburger most days of the week.
