Thik keh rahe ho chachaji (What you say is right, Chacha)
Despite your adequate and reasonable explanation I bet someone will extrapalate this to thier narrow view point if thinking or xenophobia, you get wide spectrum of pepole in every community, yes some Indians are 'cheap charlies' because the why have been exposed to pverty and you can put it down to survival insinct, on other side of of coin I have seen some Europeans on beach road would put animal kingdom to shame
I agree Chachaji,
Though I was just trying to be brutally frank and brusque on the issue despite of myself being an Indian, I suspect that it may lead to some fellow mongers strengthening their contrived notions about Indians which I thought of as an after thought but then, thought of letting go.
I fully agree on your point of their being cheap charlies in India and in Europe and in US- essentially boils down to what you want to do with your money or how much do you want to stretch your last cent, at the risk of being irritatingly miser in world view.
Its just that the pie of Indians who are thronging Bangkok may not represent the suave, polished, decent, well heeled mongers with good etiquettes and that reflects in their overalll behaviour here and thus creates prejudice. Almost all the Indians I have got a chance to speak to while boarding a flight to Bangkok are small time traders of Palika Bazaar or Ghaffar Market in Delhi who want to keep the expenses minimum and are reasonably unabashed about it and thus end up getting projected as cheapter rowdies.
A very good article on Indians in Thailand which I came across recently, not related to their mongering escapades though. Very well written, and truthful. :
