I almost never go to the casas. It is just not my thing. Casas being close will not slow my roll. You have to take a bit more time to meet and set up dates but your encounters will be much better than the one and done pros.

She never asks for money unless it is in trade for future services and she always delivers. Overall we have maintained a relationship of friends over the years and I definitely get the GFE when I visit her. As she gets older being in the business becomes more difficult and she feels the pressure from the younger girls and those with plastic surgery.

Nightclubs closed in Gazcue.
Dominican prosecutors continue to close down brothels located in the Gazcue area of Santo Domingo. Yesterday, Monday 16 September, the National District prosecutor office announced that two nightclubs, The Girls House and Sky High, were closed for violation of the law against trafficking in migrants and people. The owners Ronny Colalzo, Eden Mena Guirola and Marlen Llerena were arrested and the prosecutors say they will be charged, as reported in Hoy.
These are some of the big boy clubs not the holes in the wall. This is sending a serious message. The day of the casas may be numbered. They will need to change how they function. They need to develope a scheme like BB or FOD to work around the laws. It is possible but I think greed may prevent them.

Personally I think this is BS since these type of moral issues are plain out stupid.
These politicians need to focus on how to fight real corruption.

It will be interesting to see if this countines to save them. They may be next! The days of fish in the barrel mongering may be over.

I don't know if BBs and FOD have a system that insulates them or not. The main dominican business models that do are clubs or discos that just provide a pick-up venue or which hire chicas as servers and charge "salida" if they want to leave before the end of their shift. That "salida chica" disco tipico is all over the country by the hundreds and I think meets the legal standard (though you don't see many reports from guys other than expats using them). Unlike brothels, discos tipico hide in plain sight and are used by couples and could be visited by tourists without anybody being too upset that they seem to have a lot more barmaids hanging out than they reasonably need.

When you are at Blackbeard's you give your money directly to the chica; not to "the house". BB's and FOD only make money on rooms, food, and drinks.

Many clubs. Including the places on Pasteur. Have been closed and reopened several times over the years. It is a cycle. Casa de Modelos aka casa de munecas got shut down at least 4 times that I can remember over the past 10 years. It's all money and politics. There is a power struggle going on in the PRD just now and the PLD is vulnerable to persistent scandal rumors surrounding Leonel. Anyway, the cycle is the neighbors complain when the clubs get out of hand with noise and neon and drug selling street boys hanging around. The clubs get shut down and then they quietly reopen one by one as money changes hand. The club owners then get greedy and start getting out of hand again. The other part of the cycle is when casas get shut guys will come on the internet and say there will be no more clubs reopening.

Heading to Santo Domingo for the first time in mid-October (16-28). Have been to Sosua several times but wanted a change. Am going to search the threads here for more information. Feel free to share any tips or suggestions.

I think if the chicas were employed as waitresses technically just as with the discos they could charge salida for them leaving the premises on their shift. The only problem then is the house mother and standardized prices which might be issues. But I think it's a big difference as you say that they are paid directly.
As other people have commented, it is of course political, but it's not like the law means nothing. It's still takes more juice to do something blatantly illegal than something that's just a little edgy.
