Yes, there are daily and weekly rentals. I'm a bit reluctant to post more details here in a public forum, because you don't know who is reading (in the DR or worldwide) or what use they might make of information posted here. If you post your mailing address here, I will send you a packet of information, prices, etc. In any case, I am just posting this information so that people can get an IDEA of what would be available at a certain price point. You pay less you get less, you pay more, you get more.
Regarding restaurants, I am afraid I am way too lazy to take pictures, inspect kitchens, etc, but if I get food poisoning, I will report. Last night I dined at a restaurant called La Finca which is at the junction of Dr. Rosen and Alejandro Martinez. I had breast of chicken with mango sauce, served with a salad of minced carrot soaked in orange juice, and potato croquettes. The ambience and architecture of the restaurant, the friendly service of the owner and her staff, and the cleanliness of the kitchen were all superb. However, either you find me credible and take my word for it, or you don't. The choice is yours. Don't expect me to post menus and photos. Next time I return I will probably try the goat meat in rum sauce, as I am always partial to a bit of goat.
Be honest, you don't like Sosua, for whatever reason and you seem to want to discourage people from visiting Sosua. Possibly this is because you are running a business giving people guided motor tours of the DR and don't want them to go solo? I don't know. However, please accept that people have different experiences and perspectives and that yours is not the only voice. People just ARE different. One person posted here recently that they would rather date a crack working girl than a Haitian woman who works in a Salon in Sosua. Well, to me that is a shocking statement, but then I have no experience of crack working girls, and maybe they are some great people when you get to know them. Certainly no one else has challenged this, so maybe I am in a minority point of view. But does that matter? I have traveled to about 25 countries in Europe and the Americas, so I have seen a bit of the world, and I like Sosua. You have seen even more of the world and you don't like it. That is what makes for a good discussion.

Once the hurdle of a certain degree of physical attraction has been cleared, to me the most important factors are how my personality and hers mesh together. If she is interesting to talk to or has a good sense of humor, those are positive factors and although they may not convert immediately into cash, they are more likely to win repeat business.
My own experience is that the Haitian girls you meet in the DR are often better educated and more interesting than the Dominican girls that you meet. If other people disagree, or have experiences or anecdotes to the contrary, let them post them and offer their opinions.
In the end we are writing for casual readers who probably have never been to the DR, but who might want to know what they could experience here and what they could expect. Different perspectives should be helpful, but in the end they have to make up their own minds.

IMHO, the tolerance level for differing opinions has diminished on this particular forum, but there are similar instances on other forums as well. The fact that not everyone agrees with one's opinion of attractive, fun, hot, etc. Does not make them wrong and you right, or reverse. It just makes them different! I say, Viva la difference!
I make an effort to ignore those that post things I don't agree with or let most of the silliness slide, except when someone is not giving an accurate account of a situation I am aware of, or is purposely trying to besmirch the reputation of someone I know to be different. (I think I have officially now used all the "big" words I know). It is not always easy, but I can't see the point of starting a flaming session just to start one.
Last I checked this quest is supposed to be FUN! Goodness knows there are enough outside pressures trying to ruin a good time, we don't need to start our own.

At present most gringos who visit Haiti, unless they already have trusted contacts or guides there which most of us will not have, keep to the beaten path for safety reasons and visit establishments which are said to be safe for gringos. They are not going to wander the barrios and side-streets to pick up semi-pros. And most of the "safe" establishments are patronized by the vast numbers of generally well-paid occupation military officers and NGO officials who have inflated prices.
It is as if mongers visiting the North Coast were so safety conscious that they went everywhere in taxis and, of course, the taxi-drivers only took them to places like Cristal or Passions. (Indeed, one does meet many visiting gringos who fall into that bracket). They would get a totally inflated idea of DR puta pricing that way.
I live with a haitiana and spend most of my time with Haitians. Most of them are either Evangelical Christians or connected with the charity school I help to run, so I don't discuss prostitution with them, but from the others I know that local girls in Haiti are only too happy to go for 500 gourdes or less (a gourde roughly equals a peso). This makes sense when you think that the average income in Haiti is a third that in the DR.
So there is a vast pool of fresh young girls who will go with you for peanuts in Haiti. The problem is, of course, accessing them and the expense of traveling to and around the country in safety and staying in the absurdly expensive hotels (three times the price of DR equivalents).
