I heard that Brasilian billionaire Eike Batista purchased the L-shaped property where the Copacabana Mudial supermarket is located. The property fronts on rua Siqueira Campos and rua Barato Ribeiro. It is currently occupied by only the low rise supermarket building. The story is that he intends to build a new high rise hotel on the site. Batista's refurbished Gloria Hotel is slated to reopen in the first half of 2014. No details have leaked on the deal or what will become of Mundial in Copacabana. To Cariocas, this is bad economic news because Mundial is the lowest priced supermarket in Copacabana.

The more hotels that open in Rio will give apartments more competition that'll drive the price to rent them down. And that goes for the hotels too. The reason why the current apt and hotels are so expensive is the low accommodation inventory. Low hotel rooms in Rio is why people rent apts. Open more hotels in Rio, please!

Who has been to Rio during Independence Day weekend in September?

Plus, if it falls on a 3-day weekend (say Friday) , then Cariocas will add Thursday and Monday to the mix, make it into a 5 days mini vacation or a FERIADAO (big holiday) and leave town. You end up with a international sausage fest.

Moral of the story: Change your plans.

I havn't checked out Espaço Terapias. However Viviane, which I had this week at XYZen told me about Espaço Terapias. She used to work on their Copacabana location.
She told me the girls were goodlooking.
The prices she told me were:

Weather will be quite similar in northern and southern hemispheres as the Solstice nears. It will be a bit cool for beach activity. Tourism will be down and likewise fewer GDPs in Rio de Janeiro. Beach situation: The schools started this week and many people started to work this week as well. The beaches are suddenly much less crowded during the week.

Ho-beach had about a dozen GP's during the carnival. Now it's even more empty.

Balcony: Even though I dislike that place I ended up there yesterday. Lots of people, but very low quality. The majority of the girls don't have the standard of the privê-girls. Most Balcony girls looks very bored and hardcore. One of my buddies loves the place and picks up Blacony-girls every evening, paying R$100-150. My other buddy is very lucky with Balcony. He brought several of them back home for free.

I keep doing my mongering in privês. Right now I have a favourite in centro, charging R$50. I've been there three times this week, and there are still some girls to be tried out.
