I have RTFF, and also contributed on the Cebu (and Africa, Middle East, India, Thailand etc) forums (used to go by the handle Sir Van Koff). Planning my Manila visit and I see a lot written about Greenbelt 3. Did some google research and what I understand now is that Havana Cafe, close to entrance 3 of Greenbelt, opposite New World Hotel is what punters are referring to when they say Greenbelt 3. Am I right, or am I missing something? How do things work at this cafe w. Are. T picking up girls?

I loved the gogos on Mango Ave. Cebu. I reckon something similar in Burgos is overpriced and not worth the effort. MBC is not an attractive option as it will set off bells ringing for my local (upper middle class, ex-expat) GF. She has advised me to stay in the Makati area. The plan is to stay in Makati and sneak in a few EDSA trips on the sly (if that's do-able). Any tips of mid to high end pick up places (discos) in Makati will be greatly appreciated. Something along the lines of Penthouse, Loft, Sunflower, Juliana (at the low end, but much fun).

I'm 32, from the US, and I've been to Thailand, Shanghai and Hong Kong in years past.

I'll be traveling to Beijing and Chongqing in May. And then will spend about a week in the Philippines (first time) strictly for fun and pussy. I may also drop by Changping in Guangzhou on my way to Manila based on what I've read here (never been to CP before)

I'll probably stay at Pan- Pacific or Diamond Hotel per ISG members recommendations.

I'd also like to either go to the beach, for some surfing, or snorkeling, etc, or somewhere for some mt biking. My Filipino travel agent and family friend is recommending Boracay for how easy it is to get to and as the island to party. I haven't found any info on Boracay by RTFF at all. My concern is that from researching the Internet outside of ISG, Boracay is over touristed, with mostly Lady Boys.

Questions to all of you gents:

1) How long should I hang out in Manila (how interesting is it compared to other PI destinations)?

2) Where would you recommend I go other than Manila? Maybe use AC as a base for a few nights and do day trips from AC for beach or other outdoor adventure?

3) How does Manila or PI in general compare to Changping? I like all types of Asian girls, but especially like light skin Chinese girls, so thought I should at least spend two nights in CP, but if you guys say it's over rated and life is better in Manila, maybe I skip it.

H2O Hotel is located right behind the Manila Hotel, off Roxas Blvd. It is inside the Manila Ocean Park.

Good Attributes:

The hotel is an exceptionally nice hotel. I would say, they have one of the best beds in Manila. They have severeal types of rooms. I always liked picking the room with the aquarium. Extremely beautiful aquarium setting, if you are into fishies. Multi-colored fishies swimming by, while you are doing the doggy. It is girl friendly, ad you get a modicum of privacy. The hotel has a swimming pool, and of course the ocean park. There is a restaurant that serves south east asia food, and some western. Quality of the food is about 8 out of 10. 10 being exceptional. Restaurant is cheap, as it caters fo the ocean park visitors as well. The buffet is excellent, which sometimes you get free when you book your room. They also have a bar overlooking the bay. It is sort of a open air lounge one a concrete platform over the ocean. You can watch those big ships pass by while you hang out here. I was stuck in Manila for 3 days once because of the typhoon, and I stayed here and had a great time. Very nice. Great place to chill and have a few beers. Sometimes with live music. You can walk to Cowboy Grill from here. You have to get out, cross Roxas Blvd, and walk through couple of blocks. Maybe a mile and a half walk. Very safe, in my opinion. I have done this couple of times. I am a walker, so not for everybody. Also, taxi can take you to to Cowboy Grill and Amazonia, which is about 10 to 15 minute ride. Glorietta Mall is about 15 minutes ride. Can't remember the name of it. At this mall there is a Starbucks which is a great location to pick up FLs. There is a TGI Friday's and many other great restaurants at this mall. I have picked up girls from both Starbucks and the mall.

The best part of the hotel is the bed. Very clean, nice, Marriott style beds. They have other types of rooms as well, but the aquarium room is a hoot. One whole part of the hotel wall is the aquarium, so in the room it is one whole side of your room wall. Really a spectacle to watch. You want to impress a chick, this will impress the crap out of her.

Bad Attributes:

It is about 1 big block off Roxas Blvd. It is not easy to get taxi's from this hotel. Sometimes you have to walk to Roxas Blvd. To catch a cab, as it is sort of hidden behind, towards the ocean. Taxi drivers tend to over charge you. They tend to over charge foreigners anyway.

Direction from the airports:

Hotel is north of the airport. Your taxi should head down NAIA road, then onto Roxas Blvd. Heading towards the hotel, the ocean should be on your left, when on Roxas Blvd. You will pass Great Mall on your left, and Rizal park (think both right and left). Keep your eyes open for Manila Hotel on the left, can't miss it. And H2O is behind Manila hotel. Just before reaching Manila Hotel on Roxas, on the right see, you will see a Starbucks, that is the closest starbucks. Myabe a 15 minute walk from H2O. No chicks here by the way. Lowest fare from airport to H2O. 350P. Highest fare. 500P. Take a metered taxi from the airport. Keywords: Hotel at Ocean Park, Hotel Behind Manila Hotel off Roxas Blvd.

If you trying to get to Greenbelt from here, it will be a 45 minute taxi ride.

Airport to hotel, will take you 45 minutes on an average day.

Unless it is really cheap or a good deal, I avoid hotels here because Roxas Blvd is one very busy street with bumper to bumper traffic. On a busy dya can take you a whole lot longer than 45 minutes to get to the hotel.

Though there are many working girls there are also non FLs too, so take a bit of care. Look for girls who are nursing one drink for hours, who are furiously texting, and who give you the hard stare.

Burgos is mostly overpriced, though there is a bar or two with more affordable bar fines. Info of the places in the forum.

Intercontinental Hotel's Icon disco. New World Hotel's Palladium. In Burgos is the Bronx Basement Disco Bar at the Royal Bellagio Hotel.

I think it is an ok hotel. I'd give it a 3 star, though on the web, is says 4 star.

There is a restaurant that serves south east asian food, and some western. Quality of the food is about 7 out of 10. Restaurant is reasonable, as it caters to the ocean park visitors as well. And it is more of a family hotel, they are girl friendly, and there are NO pick-ups at the bar, restuarant, lounge ot anywhere else at this hotel.

Getting FL's from there is quite easy, but best to observe for a few minutes to make sure they are in fact FL's and not regular girls or with bf's. Many sit at the other coffee shops too (Starbucks & Seattle's Best) next to and across from Havana. They are all located in a "U" shaped courtyard, at the open end of the "U" there are also some large planters, steps and seating areas, the FL's hang out there as well. Use caution though, lots of LB's work Greenbelt.

Don't write off Burgos St, if you strike out or don't care for the selection at Greenbelt you can take a cab to Burgos. Should only cost about 60p and take about 10 minutes if not during rush hour. Plenty of FL's walking around there and if you go on a Sunday then check out a place called "Wow, Wow's" (or something close to that) as their bar fines are half off; 750p to the bar and 2K to the girls for ST. As you head down Burgos from Kalayaan Ave towards Gen. Luna they are just past Calderon on the left side; about 100 meters down in all from Kalayaan. Small place, but decent selection of ladies. As always YMMV.

Can you fly direct to AC or Cebu or other destinations other than MNL? Borocay is a place you might want to bring a gal with you. I had some great snorkeling there, and I rented a mountain bike for a day. It's all a bit commercialized, but if you stay at 4/5 star hotels, you probably are okay with this. When I went to Borocay, I joined up with a volunteer organization which was trying to help the indeginous people who were being squeezed out by commercial interests. Beautiful Borocay can be quite ugly.

First time, with only one week, you might do well just staying in Manila. If you need a nature break, go to Taal volcano. Fantastic view and nature. Take a girl with you. This can be a one day trip.

Cebu city, several great beaches available from Cebu city. Search Alona beach (on the island of Bohol which is 1. 5 hr boat ride. Search Ocean jet).

It's only about 2 hours by bus and boat from Manila. The snorkeling and diving there is some of the best in the entire planet. There are adventure tours that offer hiking and biking in the mountains. There's also an active club scene at Batangas beach with ample takeout.

Personally, I think Havana's setup is not as good as say BAT's or CM2. I say that because you can't really walk into every area easily to go see the talent in Havana. The outside seating area is made for sitting down to drink and eat. There's not a lot of space to just walk past every table to check out the talent. It's also dark and the fact that they're sitting sometimes makes it hard to see what you are dealing with. The disco / bar area where they usually have a live band can get pretty crowded but mostly on weekends, so it can be hard to see the talent in there also except for the first section on the left. You have to be pretty patient when going to Havana. Personally, I think most of the women working there look to be a little stuck up and looking for more than they're worth. I have had better luck finding regular women out for fun than those looking P4P.

I think that Bronx place on Burgos is a like a gogo bar in disguise. I don't think they're freelancers but they get bar fined and have lady drinks. At least that's the vibe I got when I went in there. The Icon disco is in the hotel the Intercontinental. It gets going extremely late like 2am but more like 3 am. A lot of the same women from Havana will end up there along with other stragglers from other places. I think this place is losing it's touch possibly because so many P4P women came in.

I personally wouldn't worry about what your GF says about not going to Ermita and thus you skipping out on going to MBC / LA Cafe. Later at night it's not that bad of a cab ride for the cost. Just don't take any taxis lingering out front of the place, walk half a block and get one that's moving. I kind of consider this place like Top Gun. If you are willing to pay and do an investment, it doesn't hurt to shop in the Burgos gogo places. I have bar fined and paid the price there before, and then had them as regulars on their own afterwards skipping the whole bar fine thing. Some people will tell you to just get their numbers and meet them later, but that might not work out so good if you are only there for a short time. They have a tendency to come up with their own emergencies or crisis regularly so counting on those encounters can possibly ruin your trip.

Its infested with Koreans, Taiwanese and Chinese and soon the Russians are coming (last two flights I took to Manila were full of Russians on way to Boracay).

Prices are moving in lockstep with an increase in demand.

Construction waste is starting to pollute the higher of the water tables and eventually it will become an overused and out of demand destination as people seek peace and quality more than mass toursim.

There was never any infrastructure rules imposed and now the high levels of demand are creating a landgrab atmosphere, where local indigenous tribes are totally ousted based on those with power and guns. The Philippines was always thus.

In early 2011 the Philippine government gave the indigenous Ati a small tract of land on Boracay Island under some sort of writ of ancestral domain. The Ati had been contesting developers on the island, arguing that the land had historically belonged to them (the Ati) as the original indigenous inhabitants of the island. Mr. Condez was a 26 year old activist among the Ati. He was, as this column suggests, killed by a security guard for one of the resort hotels on the island. I have surmised from various pieces I have read that he was killed because some developers, and / or people they employ, were upset that the government had handed ownership of some of the land back to the Ati. This would seem to imply "taking back property rights from developers for his indigenous Ati people." Presumably the developers were similarly displeased that the government dismantled a hotel that was being built over some reef. I do not know the exact details, but it is reasonable to assume they may have blamed the Ati protest for this other government intervention, and Mr. Condez, as an activist organizer may have been targeted either to gain revenge or to intimidate other future indigenous activism on the island. In this sentence I was implying that Condez, not X-Man, was the real Gunga Din, as he paid with his life.

This sentence was meant to be facetious. If Mr. Condez had been involved as a service industry employee, serving X-Man by getting him water, for example, his fate might have been different. Sadly, as GE pointed out in a post about the high cost of electricity in the Philippines, many poor Filipinos are quite complacent about their tough lot in life. I do not believe Mr. Condez deserved to be killed for his activism. But as an observer of Philippine society for a number of years I know that things like this happen. Teachers, for example, who are responsible for running polling places, have sometimes been killed because they would not bow to the wishes of candidates trying to intervene in ballot counting. Nearly 60 people were killed in Maguindanao a few years ago-many of them innocent journalists and observers-simply because a man dared to run for office against an entrenched Governor in Muslim Mindanao. I am not the only observer on the Philippine board who has become partially resigned to the brutal reality that exists at some times in some parts of the Philippines. I am also not the only participant here who expresses resignation through facetiousness.

Well I hate to say it guys, but just back from my first 4 day jaunt in Manila and didn't get laid.

I also didn't get mugged, pickpocketed, shot at, bashed, or ripped off, well maybe you can be judge on that one.

But I did have a few lovely few Bill Clinton experiences in my hotel with knockout 18yo virgin (hence the no sex).

Pre Trip.

Joined DIA and FC. Spent way too many hours on the sites with so many contacts I had to narrow it down to a "Top 20" before I left.

All girls on my list were very specific criteria. 18-21, no kids and we should have chatted directly in FC or yahoo about coming to my hotel.

I had the top 20 all colour coded, phone numbers and brief notes, likely travel times for each girl and loaded on google docs for easy access in Mnl.

TIP 1: Limit your time on those sites to about 2-3 weeks prior to your trip, as girls come and go on there all the time.

TIP 2: Don't rely solely on cloud storage!

Most of my girls were from FC, so logged into the account to see if the email history could help me with numbers etc. Managed to get a few numbers and immediately started the texting to arrange a session the next day.

Locked in an 18yo I had chatted with a few times, for lunch the next day and headed out into the wild Malate area to see what I could find.

Wandered around with great apprehension after reading the reports here.

It was Easter time and everything was closed and the streets rather empty.

He took me to 4 places near to MBC (I didn't realise on the 1st night how close I was to it).

2 possibilities only out of about 15 girls in the various shops. Had my mind on one, but she didn't have I'd so that was a no deal.

Went back for the 2nd one after a few drinks at other casa's but she was gone.

Kept trying with various offers for tips, but she simply said bye and left the room.
