Today is my third day in Hong Kong, and I've struck out in Wan Chai on both nights I've been in town thus far (Friday & Saturday, no less! I'm not sure if it's the slightly rainy weather, but the bars just don't seem to have as many girls as I've seen on previous visits. New Makati was practically empty on Friday, but a bit busier last night. Still nothing like I recall from trips a couple years back. Escape was Escape. That is, plenty of hotties around, but all asking ridiculous prices, and it still seemed more of a sausage fest than usual. Hong Kong Cafe was probably the best, but again way more dudes than ladies. I wonder what gives.
So, on to striking out: On Friday I thought I found a unicorn in HKC. A slim, pretty Shanghainese girl named Coco. She was giving all the right signals (though asking too much money, of course), but it was getting late, I was getting drunk, and feeling horny, so I agreed to $1 k S / T at my hotel. In the taxi back to Kowloon she kept up the heat with kisses, hiking up her skirt to flash me xiao mei mei, etc. Unfortunately everything changed once we got to the room. Not only did she insist on pre-payment, but when we finally got to the act and she undressed. MAJOR hygeine issues. I could smell her snatch from a mile away, and that's about all the closer I wanted to get. She climbed on for a quick ride but I was so turned off I cut it short and sent her on her way. I just don't' understand how a working girl can a) go to work in that state and / or b) not insist on a shower before the magic begins. I guess I need to start being proactive and insisting on showers, but to be honest the stank she had going on may not have washed off - it was that strong! Despite CBJ and wanting payment up front, I do think she would have been a good investment, but I couldn't get past the hygeine; it was a complete and utter boner killer.
So, on to last night (Saturday). I started at New Makati, and as I was secretely hoping, I bumped into a lovely Indo girl called Emma who I met there when I was in town a few months ago. I really wanted to meet up with her again, but I lost her contact info so I knew I'd just have to hope for the best. And I got lucky! It was very early (maybe 10:30), and she was already chatting and dancing with another guy so I just got her number and then told her I was going to get some dinner and would come back later. Truth be told I also wanted to go scout around a bit, which I did, but eventually I made my way back to NM. By that time she was committed for the evening, and she and her new friend headed out. I was only there to see her, and it was getting pretty dead, so I left shortly and made the rounds again. A while later I saw her at HKC, but she was still engaged. She texted me later saying how drunk she was and she wished she came with me, etc. Etc. I'm not sure if she left alone or not. I think she may have, not realizing I was at still at HKC. Anyway after that I went back to Escape and *almost* closed a deal with a gorgeous Filipina, but at the last minute I realized how stupid it was to pay what she was asking ($2 k S / T. At 3:30 AM no less), so I bailed and went for a kebab instead. Probably a better investement because despite about 20 Coronas, I woke up feeling pretty good this morning. By the way, ALL the girls I talked to were asking crazy prices - even at Hong Kong Cafe they were starting at $2k S/T, negotiating down only to $1.5k. Ridiculous, especially as it was very very late.
Tonight, Emma and I are supposed to get together for dinner, so at least I should get laid.
Here's a question for the regulars: am I missing any bars? My circuit includes NM, Neptune 3 (which I hate), Escape, Amazonia, HKC, and Joe Bananas. Are there any other bars in Wan Chai where ladies congregate? Seems there must be one or two I'm missing.
Oh PS, I got up early today for the "maid parade", but wasn't at all impressed. Bar 109 was full but maybe 2-3 lookers and a whole bunch of trolls; couldn't find any other bars that had more than a handful of patrons.

I agree that Wan Chai has got quieter over the years and if there are now less WG's than guys about then the price will go up. Chantik just a few days ago explained the reasons for the reduction in the number of girls.
Looks as if new areas might need to be explored. Kowloon side? But there are still gems to be found in the Wan Chai bars. Why don't you like Neptune111? I know the girls are pushy for ladies drinks, ably encouraged by Mamasan Pearla but the prices are usually payable with a bit of negotiation. Insiders is another bar but I never found it to be busy but again, you only need to find one to make your day.
NM used to be a good hunting ground but has gone down hill after the events of a year or so ago. Looks as if the 141 places need to be on my list now.

I lived in HK for about 12 years and loved the place. On a whim, decided to go there for a few days last week.
Being the organised guy I am I already lined up my dates in advance thanks to the dating sites that abound.

Its lost the charm it did once have.

She "forgot" about having dinner, but that's fine as I was more interested in dessert anyway. She said we could meet at New Makati later, bu by the time I got myself planted on a bar stool at HKC, for whatever reason I just couldn't be bothered to wander over to NM to find her. Instead I popped back to Escape and ran into a curvy and very pretty little Thai spinner named Jenny with whom I'd flirted & chatted very briefly the night before. I don't think I had any intention (or hope) of finding anyone to suit my fancy or my budget at Escape, but we really hit it off and I decided to roll the dice with her. To be honest that type of positive attitude makes the "Escape surcharge" money well spent for me, especially after my bad experiece with the Shanghainese girl. We're supposed to have dinner tonight, but after that, I'm not sure what's in store for me. Tonight is my last night in town, and while my flight tomorrow is relatively late (2 PM I think), I may make an early night of it. I don't have much interest in repeating with Jenny, despite really liking her, but she did have a very cute friend at the bar. Hmm.
We shall see!

Reckon you guys have short memories. Since when has it been 500 at Escape / Fenwick for an overnighter. I know locals who are regulars at Escape 7 or 8 years ago complained they couldn't get girls to go all night for 700 or 800 - Girls would not budge unless 1000 - Until recently sometimes you could get lucky and get a ST from Fenwick / Escape if your hotel was in Wanchai.
Prices go up every year for all goods and services. Sex workers are part of goods and services.

Example,
when I first went to Rio in 2006 I was paying the going tourist rate. It was about $45 USD for about 2 hours and $70-90 for all night.
On my next visit, I found out I can go to other places for 1/2 price. When talking to the girls later, I calmly reminded them of the cost at the other places and I was in a better position as to how much I was willing to give them for a ST romp. Sometimes it worked. It pays to be educated on current rates.

This will be the 27th time I have startd my Asian Escapade in Hong Kong. Always go to The Peak as my first port of call. When I have taken in that fantastic vista I know my holiday break has started. Cannot get Hong Kong out of my DNA and I wonder if I really want to.
