East China - Shanghai

i went to a sauna in Changning yesterday at 6:30 PM, thinking I was avoiding the busy hours because it was around dinner time. The place was superpacked, with 6 guys sitting in the reception area just waiting for a locker to become available. I spoke to the attendant, and he said because a lot of places in Minghang closed because of bad weather, many johns from that area came up to monger. Was that another crackdown or just a seasonal (New Year) ass kicking to be smoothed over? How packed the place was reflected the misguided and futile attempts to crack down on a human need, even more basic than alcohol during the Prohibition.

Minghang is going through an administration change, crackdown is still going on. I guess they still have not agreed on the bribe amount. Same for Changning a few months ago, two of my frequented places just recently reopened.

Head over to Hongkou, plenty of action there, and better value too.

Are there other places I can look for Sauna / escort / pickup options given my situation?

Not sure if I've been limiting myself to Westerner friendly options simply because I've approached it as a Westerner.

I went to Bar Rouge tonight for New Years Eve. Waste of time. They let so many people in it was wall to wall people inside bar and balcony. No possible way to move around or see what available. Definately a fire and safety hazard as there was not a foot of space open. I left about 1 am. Definately some talent in there but not sure there was many working girls.

Blue Sky is a typical Chinese drinking Girl Bar. There used to be a few in the little alley at the other end of the same road that Manhattan is one too. Same type of bar as the ones across from the Hilton just a few blocks south of there. All the girls are Chinese and they make money off of the over priced drinks that they try to convince you to buy them. Typically 100 to 150 Rmb for a Long Island ice tea type of thing. It used to be a pretty good place to bring customers who are looking to flirt and get handsy with a pretty girl or two but not looking for take out. Back when Miki used to run it I would negotiate 30-40 rmb per beer, and max 60 rmb for the girl's drinks. We could spend a few hours in there and have fun -4 guys- about 3000 rmb. We had some pretty great nights in there and a few of my friends got a little extra action in the back booths HJ, BJ etc. Ymmv. You have to be aware of the pricing when you go into these places, negotiate before you buy the first drinks and and check your bill frequently because those girls are heartless and will ripoff the unwary any chance they get.

Unfortunately Micki has moved on and last time I was there the owner was letting a few African guys deal drugs out the back so I no longer consider it a safe place to bring my customers. Shanghai Nights across from the Hilton is a better option, friendly, pretty girls and the manager Fei is very open to negotiating prices to make sure all have a good time.

One of the girls I know in Shanghai and I have an agreement that who ever gets their next promotion first has to reserve the roped off area between the two bars for the night.
