When the vaccines were approved by the FDA, they were done with a strain of Covid where vaccines did prevent transmission. That was gone about 6 months later. The vaccines had zero to do with death. In fact, people getting the vaccine had a higher death rate than people who did not get it (the placebo group). That is the science. Period.
Once the vaccines were below being 50% effective, they should have been thrown in the trash. However, Biden and his merry band of followers doubled down on the vaccines working and said that if you get the vaccines, you will not get Covid. And of course, since then, every government and pharmacy advocate blowhard who was vaxxed x infinity has gotten Covid.

You know what science is not about? Censorship, and we are seeing that same band of so called experts you worship back tracking so quickly on the censorship issue it is not even funny, but again, you know nothing about that. It is not in the news sources you look at.
On a personal note, I have been in Mexico studying Spanish, and my teacher asked about the vaccine. I told her the side effects from it were woefully underreported. Every one I talked to had pain in the arm the day after the vaccine not from the shot itself. That was an immune reaction. I have said I was vaccinated twice: the first dose was to prevent my getting Covid and the second was purely for political purposes so I could travel but the second dose resulted in an injection site so tender that for 3 days if anyone even slightly touched me there, I winced in pain. It was no big deal but to me it was a sign to not get any more of the fucking vaccines.
Well, my teacher had no such luck. The first shot was the same as mine but the second led to an immune response that affected not just her arm but her whole body. She went from walking miles to yards and suffered from God awful heart palpitations for months. Worse, her husband ragged on her for not getting boosted and it led to her divorce. Her colleagues gave her crap as they were boosted x infinity as well while she resisted. It was like manna from heaven for her to have someone educated tell her this reaction was not in her head. Of course, you have already decided that people who suffered like her should be ignored.
What is worse though was my going to Walmart in Mexico and there was a ridiculous policy in place about mask wearing. I wanted to say, "So the Walmarts in the USA do not give a shit about people dying from Covid?
The reason the blue states finally opened up is that people had enough. Hell, Bill Maher was on his show every week bitching about how playing in red states was so much easier than blue ones. So maybe you did not get this. People abandoned the so called experts politically, and I would bet right now you go on a plane or go shopping without a mask. If so, my question to you is why? The virus is still out there spreading and killing people.

Tooms said that Trump was bitching up a storm about the Fed when he was in office, and Trump did that. The Fed raised rates during the time Trump was in office. What he left out is the Fed admitted doing so was a mistake and then lowered them later. Again, this was nothing compared to what we have today. I think they were 25 basis points moves versus the 75 basis points moves we see now.
What you did not see is my hounding Tooms about what he was invested in back in April right when the Fed announced what they were going to do. Thing is early on in Covid everyone, both red and blue, did the same thing: locked down, printed up money, and advocated for zero percent interest rates. The only difference, and another minor one in the grand scheme of things, were some Republican governors like Desantis opened up their states sooner. It was a big deal for those living there, but it was really like a 6 to 9 month difference.
So yeah, when you print up a lot of money, you are going to have all kind of asset classes go up, and they did. There are always signs of excess, and my favorite were the NFT monkeys going for millions and billions. South Park even did a bit on that. And Biden rode that rising wave of assets to a great approval rating, the economy and not being the egocentric Trump who had to dominate every conversation in the world.
What you see though is guys like Tooms and PVM who are completely oblivious to the economic reality. When you print up that much money, inflation is sure to follow. Then you will have the money printers reign things in. The job of the Fed is to take away the punch bowl when the party gets going, and they have. In my mind, any responsible Fed chairman would do likewise and the Fed has had not just Powell but all its members of the Fed out there in medialand preaching from the same book. But with Tooms, there is the political. The fed is being run by Trump appointed Powell. Ugh.
With them, economic reality is all about partisan bickering, but any smart Fed would do the same thing. Any president who is in Biden's shoes was going to have to pay for the economic sugar rush that Covid brought. Honestly, there was little that could be done to make it better but a lot could be done to make it worse, and Biden's energy policy is an example of something worse. Hell, you even have Dems now admitting they printed up too much money.

On a side note, I just finished Peter Zeihan's book and at least he acknowledges all the facts. With global warming, he recounts how devastating warming has been in Australia and how great it has been in Illinois. That is something you will not read elsewhere. But with the partisan hacks, they do not even get what the Fed is doing. They raise rates to destroy demand, and it is only when demand is sufficiently crushed that they will stop. The stock market traders are all obsessed with when the Fed will stop. They also think the Fed will pivot and start lowering rates again (like that is going to happen any time soon. LOL.) and so we have seen a market rally lately. In actuality, historically speaking, the worst time ever to be in the market is not when the Fed is raising rates but when they are done raising them.
Anyway, the technical guys are saying we are do for a bounce up, and I had sold half my short holdings two weeks ago. I will be looking to go short more when this current rally is over. Google and Microsoft reported numbers the street did not like and yet the Dow is actually up as of now. If there was not news of the Fed slowing down / stopping the market would be getting crushed today given how big a chunk of the market is owned by these two companies. The technical guys say the S&P will go back up to the 4000 area now. I am not a technical guy but I listen to the guys there who seem to be right over and over again: Guy Adami, Carter Worth, and Katie Stockton seem to never be wrong with their market calls.
All that really matters going forward politically is that the Republicans take over the House or Senate and curb Biden's spending even more. We had the senators from West Virginia and Arizona doing that and we will have the courts ending Biden's politically smart but illegal and economically brain dead policy of cancelling student debt.
The amazing thing to me is how many Dems think electing Biden meant everything was going to be great. You cannot shut down the work force, print up $11 trillion and think everything is going to be okay. The moves to do this, I repeat, were bipartisan. It is just now we have this dumb finger pointing. It is Trump appointed Powell, Trump shutting down supply chains, and Trump causing the pandemic.
Any president in office from 2020 to 2024 was going to deal with a recession. It is amazing to me that anyone could think otherwise.
