No, I think you and Elvis are missing the entire point. Misrepresenting it in fact
Am sure Elvis can defend hisemlf here, but I just want to point out that you are missing the entire point. I for one accept the vaccines helped some at-risk people to live a few years longer. BUt they certainly did not do as they were promoted to do, which was to prevent transmission. They are not even a vaccine for that reason, so much so that they had to try to change the definition of what a vaccine is to incorporate the health-boosters that they were peddling. The global vax mandate policies were built on false or shaky evidence and showuld never have been forced on to society. Most of the world could have gotten along just fine by follwoing the dictates in the Great Barrington Declaration. But that idea was silenced by a captured press and social media. Something I will never forget.
Widespread Claims Misrepresent Effectiveness of COVID-19 Vaccines
As the virus that causes COVID-19 has evolved, the vaccines have become less effective in preventing symptomatic infection while remaining highly effective in preventing severe disease and death. This shift has been misrepresented by anti-vaccine influencers who falsely claim that it means the vaccines dont work and have been ineffective all along.
Uh, that would be you and Elvis, JustTK.
Were you expecting a 100% zero infection rate from the very beginning like no other vaccine created for anything else in history?
The "error" of anyone, Biden, Fauci, anyone not qualifying every statement made about it such as, oh, "The chances of you not getting infected at this very moment is a sad, unfortunate and highly risky 99.999% if you get vaccinated. But it's probably a good idea to get vaccinated anyway. We're just not 100% sure", while hospital beds and rooms were filling up at major hospitals around the country is so minor as to be ridiculous.
The catastrophic error was anyone following Trump's near year long lies about it. The dummies who went with his take on it had every reason to be pissed off at their own stupidity when their not being vaccinated because "It is disappearing, it will go away without a vaccine" put them in a necessarily private hospital room or a casket. And anybody else who needed emergency attention, a bed or a hospital room at that time had every reason to be pissed off at that Trumpster's stupidity too.
By stark contrast, the vast majority who followed Biden and Fauci's lead on it had every reason to congratulate themselves for being so damn smart when the only thing a positive test result led to after getting vaccinated was two aspirin at night and cup of hot tea in the morning for 3-4 days.
Repubs vow to put an end this madness
Believe them.
Add to this; record high jobs creation, rising wages, a 50-year low Unemployment Rate, historic cuts in the deficit and a stock market so stubbornly resistant to falling into even marginal Bear Market territory it took 9 months of Trump-Appointed Fed Chairman dithering and blithering about whether or not to raise funds rates, a massive hurricane and the historically worst month of the year for the stock market, September, to finally inch the S&P 500 Index into it by a small handful of points for a few days.
Sept 13 (Reuters) - A key measure of how many Americans lived in poverty in 2021 fell to a record low thanks in large part to federal government assistance measures aimed at supporting households through the COVID-19 pandemic, the Census Bureau said on Tuesday.
The supplemental poverty rate fell to 7.8% in 2021 from an upwardly revised 9.2% in 2020, according to a measure that takes into account government support offered through programs such as food assistance, tax credits and the stimulus checks. That was the lowest rate since the bureau began collecting that data in 2009.
Of course, the GOP is champing at the bit to get in there and work their magic to "turn this economy around"!
After all, poor, job-cutting Elon Musk needs the comfort of knowing his useless, disproportionately high, deficit-ballooning Trump / Repub tax cuts will be made permanent.
Remember Flatten The Curve?
Total strawman. I enevr said the vaxs don't work at all. They are useful for old and infirm folk. But they are not necessary for anyone else, yet we were all told that they were necessary, otherwise we are endangering the lives of others. Remeber all the lies of "if you don't take this vax, you are the reason why the virus is still around"? That was all built on lies. All the folks that got fired, all the folks that had their businesses destroyed. All based all lies.
BTW Factcheck is another state-bought organisation, just like the media and social media.
Your 20-20 Hindsight Revisionist History and total blindspot to the real world realities of a virulently infectious and rapidly transmitted airborne virus tells us much about why you are a pro Repub Bothsider.
Once we knew how rapidly Trump's Pandemic virus transmitted from human to human via particles as fine as aerosol and even though most of the people who might require hospitalization or die from it were fat, old and / or had pre-existing conditions, the smartest thing to do in order to save the lives of more people in America involved mandatory closures, social distancing, mask-wearing and, when available, vaccination.
The power of the state to mandate certain behaviors and, sorry, rankle idiot "My Personal Right To Choose" crusaders and proponents exists precisely for conditions and challenges like Trump's Pandemic virus.
The real world reality is America has a "for profit" healthcare system and, sorry, also has a huge number and percentage of fat, old people with pre-existing conditions. That means there was not an unlimited number of hospitals, private rooms (it's airborne, remember), equipment and staff to deal with, as they legally and ethically must, every fat, old American with a pre-existing condition wheeled through their doors all at once over a 2-3 month period while Trump's Pandemic virus was carried and rapidly spreading and mutating like wildfire by everyone of every age and health condition even if most of the people at risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death were the huge number and percentage of Americans who were, say it with me, fat, old and / or suffering from pre-existing conditions.
See, that would be that high and wide arcing curve on the line graphs produced showing what would happen to the rate of infection without closures, social distancing and mask-wearing until vaccines were invented, tested, field tested, widely available and widely administered.
When or if that curve got higher and wider as it most certainly would have without those mandates, millions more people of every age and health condition would suffer and many more would die.
That includes kids and otherwise healthy, younger people, oh and guess what, even "My Right To Choose" vaccines and mandates crusaders.
A 19 year old motorcycle accident victim, a 45 year old Sudden heart attack patient, the guy who fell off a ladder onto a picket fence, a pot-loaded Bill Maher falling asleep at the wheel, even those who did follow the mandates, would be showing up at hospitals all around the country and greeted by hours or days long queues or might not get treatment at all because fat, old, numbskull Trumpsters and FUX News viewers believed the crap about it being a hoax, "disappearing and going away without a vaccine" were sucking up all the resources already.
In fact, that did happen in many places around the country. But as bad as it was it was not nearly as bad as it would have been if Trump's year long lying about it had bamboozled and sent millions more Americans to hospitals and graveyards than it did along with greater economic destruction.
Sure, the exponentially greater economic destruction and death to follow if that had happened would have made Repubs and pro Repub Bothsiders much, much happier. But it would have been far worse for America.
Yeah, Biden and virtually every other POTUS in recent history
Listen to you, your like a broken record. All you ever talk about is Biden, Trump, Reps, Dems, the economy. That's it! You don't need to ask me what he has done. The proof is in the pudding. Check out his popularity ratings and ask the majority of the US population that do NOT approve of him. HIs approval is now 42%. Go ask them.
Presidential Approval in Historical Context
Biden's current approval rating is roughly in line with the ratings of most of his modern predecessors at the same point in their first terms as president. The timing is significant because it is two months before the midterm congressional elections, which are widely seen as a referendum on the sitting president.
The approval ratings Gallup has recorded for first-term elected presidents in September before the midterms have ranged narrowly between 40% (for Donald Trump) and 45% (for Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama) for all but two presidents since 1978. George H.W. Bush's approval rating in September 1990 was 73%, and his son George W. Bush's rating was 67% in September 2002. The elder Bush's rating rose after the strong U.S. response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, while the younger Bush's high approval reflected the continuing rally for him after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Meanwhile, Biden's RCP Job Approval and Favorability Ratings are the highest among any elected leader of either Party, higher than the House, higher than the Senate, higher than the most likely Repub nominee chosen to run against him in 2 years.
You are way off the mark.
The GBD primary focus was on targetted measures. Focussing help on those that needed it, not a blanket guideline for the young, old, healthy and unhealthy.
250 million cases? Haha. Don't make me laugh. Maybe 250 miilion cases in USA.
Nothing to do w hindsight. I said the very same thing right at the start of the pandemic. It was so obvious how it was going to play out. I didn't have to be a prophet or timelord, just note what has happened with all the previous viruses that have arrived thru human history. And of course, keep an open mind to credible scientific recommedations like the GBD.
Yes, it is 635 million cases. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/.
So 9% of the world's population has been infected (assuming no re-infection) which is still faaaaaar from the 75% or so required for the "herd immunity" that the Great Barrington Declaration crows about. The US has had almost 100 million cases and with a population of 330 million, this is about 30% of the population which is still faaaaaar from herd immunity.
