Great place to just watch whats going on. Reminds me so much of Blue Marlin Bar at Hotel Del Rey, SJ CR. For amusement purposes only, I'm heading over there late afternoon today. After a long hiatus I might start going during my cocktail hour once or twice a week.

Went in for the nursing home cocktail hour today (4:30 to about 6:00 pm) and for awhile I was the only white guy in the place. First time that ever happened at that place. The place was half full and oddly, it was about 50/50 male / female. Alot of guys appeared to be just getting off work. There were a few girls worth looking at and a few girls worth laughing at. Enough pretty ones though to get me to go back later in the week. Damn if I could only stay awake past 9:00 pm

I will soon be visiting the Philippines again and will be staying in the Alabang area. I have been before in this area and was not able to find any place with a happy ending massage or anything similar. Anyone know of places in this area?

After a long Hiatus from international travel (I sold my startup to a 25B company) I am back again in Asia.

Most of my work is centered around Taiwan these days with the occasional jaunt to my old stomping grounds in HK and Mainland.

I am looking for some guidance with regards to a possible quick weekend tour of Philippines (Manilla). Preferably I wanted to go to a nice beach and partake in both fun and sun, but this looks complicated to do from Manilla. I only have a few days and I don't want to waste too much time in the air. I am even fine staying in Manilla.

I am on a reasonably healthy budget and need some advice on good hotels (I am a 4-5 star guy but have a good US 100-150 / night budget) , and where the local talent is. I don't really think based on the economics I am worried about paying to play and I am quality vs quantity guy.

I looked for any Manilla Guide, but couldn't find one. I have re paid for the membership (waiting on 24 hr turn on).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Then you stay close to the Makati girly action and can unwind during daytime by the pool.

Can anyone weigh in on if the extra flight to Davao is worth it versus just heading from Manilla to Angles?

From your location you should be able to fly into Cebu city which has several beach options. From Manila, do some research on Laguna, but maybe a nice pool is the alternative as someone has already suggested.

So, where is the best pool in MM? Maybe I should post this on the Mnl Hotel thread. X.

This kind of question should really be addressed to Lonely Planet's "Thorn Tree" forum. There are many flights from Manila to Boracay, the main beach party venue. From Manila, you have to go far away to outdistance the metropolitan pollution. Same for Cebu, Bangkok, etc. I took a bus once, not a long ride, from Manila to Nasugbu. I would not swim, the beach and water so full of trash.

There is Subic beach the old US navy base. About three hour ride. Take a cab and a girl or not many there. Angeles is fun. But low cost. You said you were qauility high end. Makati is it. And you have been given a good list of hotels. As suggested read back 50 pages Manila hotels and Manila thread. Have heard good things About Davao. But never for only a few days. Maybe a month. The mongering scene is not like Manila, Cebu, or Angelies. Based on your description of your Wants. Go to a pool in Manila. Use DIA before you get there. Date in Asia. Look for the best. Say 3. 500 to 4, 000 peso for long time to the boom on DIA, If they do not show you will be in the high end hunting ground. And by hunting I mean shooting fish in a barrel. Good luck

So do you think it is better to stay close to the bay in Ermita or close to Greenbelt in Makati?

I like club Havana and the great places to eat in Greenbelt, also P. Burgoes st. Is a lot of fun.

But the bay view and MBC is also a draw.
