Becoming more expensive is the equivalent of eradication if you can't afford it, Amjeck. The goal has always been to prevent most people from getting it, not to prevent the elite few from getting it.
I was strolling down Soi 6 thinking 'this must be the only place left in Asia where you have girls and short time rooms in the same establishments... can't last much longer'.
No intention to flame or anything but this is of course not true, even in Thailand there are still such places.
Hi folks,
I am making my first trip to Thailand and arriving Nov 7 at 1 am at Bangkok airport.
I'm thinking just staying in Bangkok at the Business Inn for a few days and then go to Pataya.
Is this the best plan given the late hour I am arriving?
Any cheap transport options into Bangkok at 1 am from Bangkok airport?
Apologies if this has been covered. I did look for an answer first but did not find one.
All the Best.

Grab a cab and negotiate. You can probably go for 1200b. If you arrange pickup, which is much more reliable it will cost about 1600 b. Some folks recommend Mr Taxi in Pattaya, he fucked me so I do not. If you want to book someone there are lots of suggestions on the forum.
Wow, this will put them out of business (I'm sure that is the intention).

I don't think it is a permanent thing, as the police have a very nice income stream from Soi 6/Yodsak bar owners. Even if it was permanent and they were restricted to an 1800 opening...I don't think that would put them out of business. Don't worry....Soi 6 will survive an A-Bomb!!
Looks like the daytime bars are indeed facing a crackdown and won't be able to open till 6pm. Have to wait to see how long this last or how strictly it will be enforced.

Please refer to the thread titled 'Suvarnabhumi Airport Transportation Fact Sheet'. You should find your answer there.

You're best bet is to get a meter taxi from outside the airport there will be a set of wooden tables where they will ask you where you want to go and a
give you a slip and put you in a meter taxi. It depends where you are staying but it should cost around 300-400bht

The meter fare to Business Inn is 200b+/-, add in the starter fee and tolls it should not be more than 300b. If they tell you 400. go up to the departure level and catch a cab there. You won't have to pay the starter fee, and just tell the driver to use the meter, and you will pay the tolls.

Freedom
I just arrived back from 15 days in Pattaya. I also arrived at BKK at 1 AM and I arranged to have Pattaya Taxi pick me up at the airport and drive me to Pattaya. They charge 1200B for one way service, and only 2200B for the round trip.
They were wonderful to deal with..they confirmed my booking over the internet, and their driver was wating for me with my name on a sign when I exited door 3 as instructed. The car was a spotless BMW 5 series, and we made it to my hotel in Pattaya in under 80 minutes. This is really the only way to go after 24 hours in the air. Last trip I had to negotiate at 2 AM and I wound up paying 1400B for a horrible ride in a beat up old taxi.
For my return a different driver picked me up at my hotel on time in a Honda Civic, and it took a bit longer to get to the airport during the day rather than at 2 AM.
I highly recommend this taxi service.

The action is every where and you can get around on a baht bus so you do not need to stay right on walking street.
I have stayed in secrets hotel and when I arrived they wanted a damage deposit which I thought was high which they do not mention on there site. The stairs are steep and there is no lift. You also get lots of noise in your room from the bar below and the surrounding area. One night someone tried to break into my room. There are two locks on the door and I had both of them on (the staff the next morning were not bothered by my complaint).
The rooms are nice and clean and the food from the bar is very good. I do not think I would stay there again but I do enjoy going into the bar.
Why not think about getting a place with a pool like
Acrea lodge
Pattaya Bay Resort
Sabai lodge
Plus many others you should be able to find somewhere decent for 2200 bht a night

Looking at web site i think it will not be guest friendly!
Words like "idyllic family getaway" is a hint! I may be wrong!
